10 Times Method Actors Made Work Hell For Their Costars

1. The Weeknd's The Idol costar Lily-Rose Depp revealed she'd 'steer clear' of him on set when he was fully in character as Tedros, an abusive and sleazy night-club owner. She told Entertainment Weekly, 'Sometimes when Abel would get — I don't want to reveal too much about where Abel's character goes, but when he would be in full Tedros mode sometimes — I would steer clear of him.' 2. Jared Leto famously sent his Suicide Squad costars a bunch of disgusting 'gifts,' including dead animals, anal beads, and used condoms. He told E!, 'I did a lot of things to create a dynamic, to create an element of surprise, of spontaneity, and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there. I mean, the Joker is somebody who doesn't really respect things like personal space or boundaries.' Naturally, a bunch of his costars called him out, including Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Will Smith, and Viola Davis. 3. Robert Pattinson admitted that he got on Willem Dafoe's nerves on the set of The Lighthouse. Robert said that because he was playing 'fucking psychotic' Ephraim Winslow, he felt it was OK to 'be mad the whole time.' "You can literally just be sitting on the floor, growling and licking up puddles of mud...[I was] basically unconscious the whole time. It was crazy. I spent so much time making myself throw up. Pissing my pants. It's the most revolting thing. I don't know, maybe it's really annoying," he said. 4. Brian Cox once said that he found his Succession costar Jeremy Strong's method acting 'fucking annoying.' For context, Jeremy has publicly shared that he refused to rehearse with his costars on the show because he wanted 'every scene' to feel like he was 'encountering a bear in the woods.' 'I think you have to go through whatever the ordeal is that the character has to go through,' Jeremy said. 'If I have any method at all, it is simply this: to clear away anything — anything — that is not the character and the circumstances of the scene … usually that means clearing away almost everything around and inside you, so that you can be a more complete vessel for the work at hand,' he shared in 2021. 5. Tyrese Gibson once claimed that his Annapolis costar James Franco 'never snapped out of character' on set. 'I respect method actors, but he never snapped out of character. Whenever we'd have to get in the ring for boxing scenes, and even during practice, the dude was full-on hitting me. I was always like, 'James, lighten up, man. We're just practicing.' He never lightened up,' he claimed. 6. Daniel Day-Lewis's method acting for Phantom Thread seriously annoyed his costar Vicky Krieps, who told the Telegraph: 'After half the movie, I was just really tired of it. Like, 'OK, I get it. It's a game. I've played it. But can we just talk normally now, please?'' 7. Paul Giamatti once called out his Man on the Moon costar Jim Carrey's 'wacky' behavior on set. He said, 'It was one of the weirdest experiences I've had making a movie, to be honest with you. It was just wacky. Jim was wacky during it. He did this whole thing where he was Andy Kaufman all the time when he was on set and when he was in the costume, and was Tony Clifton all the time when he was Tony Clifton…When he was Tony Clifton, he had cheese — Limburger cheese — in his pockets, so he smelled horrible. And he'd constantly be hugging people, and he had it all over his hands and stuff. It was disgusting. He was touching people and making them shake his hands all the time. He smelled horrible. Like, really bad. It was just weird. And that's the least of it.' 8. In 2022, Jesse Plemons called out his The Power of the Dog costar Benedict Cumberbatch for making a rude comment about him while in character. 'There was one time he got under my skin. He was like, 'Hey, big boy.' It wasn't 'fatso.' I feel like a few people in life have been like, 'Hey, big boy,' and I was like, 'Goddamn it. What the fuck,'' he told Variety. 9. Meryl Streep once called out her Kramer vs. Kramer costar Dustin Hoffman for allegedly slapping her off-script without consent. She told the New York Times, 'This is tricky because when you're an actor, you're in a scene, you have to feel free. I'm sure that I have inadvertently hurt people in physical scenes. But there's a certain amount of forgiveness in that. But this was my first movie, and it was my first take in my first movie, and he just slapped me. And you see it in the movie. It was overstepping.' 10. And finally, I had to include Timothée Chalamet's recent comments about an unnamed actor who made his on-set experience filming a Western quite 'something' after they simply 'weren't washing' in a bid to stay in character. 'It was quite something on set. That waft coming in every day,' he said. If you can think of more examples, feel free to share in the comments!

Danny DeVito makes shocking admission about ‘lusting after' Michelle Pfeiffer

Danny DeVito made a shocking admission about his former co-star Michelle Pfeiffer. The 80-year-old confided in Collin Farrell for Variety's Actors on Actors series, published Monday, that he 'lusted after' the Scarface star while working with her in Batman Returns. 'She was a goddess,' DeVito said of Pfeiffer while discussing the actresses who played Catwoman alongside him and Farrell in their respective Batman films. Both veteran actors played the iconic villain Penguin, aka Oswald Cobblepot - DeVito in Tim Burton's 1992 film and Farrell in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Farrell shared that he did a 'couple of scenes' with Zoë Kravitz, who played Catwoman in the 2022 film. 'She was wonderful,' he added. Meanwhile, DeVito gushed over Pfeiffer, saying, 'If I knew she was going to be in a scene that day… I got all flushed.' The Man on the Moon star joked that he would 'put extra makeup on — 'Give me another pound of makeup.' It was very difficult.' When Farrell asked what it was like working with Pfeiffer, DeVito said, 'Just so wonderful. And I lusted after her.' 'We're moving on from your lust. Just tell me what form did the lust take, behaviorally?' Farrell quipped, to which the Dumbo star remarked, 'It was Oswald [his character] that was lustful.' When the Thirteen Lives actor asked if Pfeiffer was 'nervous' working with him and if she called security, DeVito joked, 'I kind of feel like she liked it. She liked Oswald.' Elsewhere in the interview, the duo discussed method acting. 'Did you take it home with you at all? If a character you're playing is having very extreme thoughts, emotions, behaviors, it doesn't come home at all?' Farrell asked. DeVito said, 'No, I go home to Rhea [Perlman] and the kids,' adding, 'I played some really despicable characters; you've got to shed that.'

Rapper Kid Cudi To Testify At Sean ‘Diddy' Comb's Hearing, Details Here

Last Updated: In her lawsuit, Cassie Ventura claimed that Sean Diddy Combs wanted to blow up Kid Cudi's car out of anger. Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Kid Cudi are all set to come face-to-face, not for a musical battle but the ongoing legal trial against the Bad Boy Records founder. Kid Cudi, who will be giving a testimony in the ongoing sex trafficking case against Diddy, is expected to take the stand in the lower Manhattan courtroom on Thursday. The update came after the Wednesday hearing when the jury informed the judges and the defence team about the Man on the Moon rap star's absence in the court, with the feds unveiling that Cudi would be in the witness box on Thursday. Kid Cudi's appearance comes days after his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, during her week-long testimony delved into the details of their brief romantic relationship. She also touched upon the allegations about Combs blowing up Cudi's car in the past. It is yet to be seen how Kid Cudi's testimony sheds more light on the investigation in connection with Ventura's claims and charges against Diddy's involvement in racketeering and sex trafficking. Cassie Ventura's Lawsuit – Diddy And Kid Cudi During her testimony, Ventura revealed that Sean 'Diddy' Combs wanted to blow up Kid Cudi's car, forcing her to break up with the Happy Gilmore 2 star. She also testified to meeting with Diddy and Cudi in Los Angeles to discuss the end of their relationship. Ventura's lawsuit came with more shocking details, revealing how Diddy discovered her relationship with Cudi during a freak-off, prompting him to lunge at her with a corkscrew, as per Forbes. While Ventura managed to escape and flee to Cudi's home, she was threatened by Diddy's staff to come back. She was later subjected to physical assault upon attempting to run out of the house. It was during the Paris Fashion Week in February 2012 when Diddy admitted that he wanted to blow up Kid Cudi's car. The explosion did happen, leaving Ventura 'terrified and in disbelief." Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, won two Grammy Awards for his collaborative songs with Kanye West and Rihanna. His Man on the Moon album trilogy was also a big hit. Cudi has also appeared in several films, including Crisis and X. Sean Diddy Combs is currently charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution amid a number of other lawsuits. The trial began on May 5. First Published:

Kid Cudi To Testify Thursday In Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Sex-Trafficking Trial About Threats Against Him & Cassie Ventura

It's not exactly the rap battle anyone ever likely envisioned, but May 22 will see Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Kid Cudi going head-to-head as the Happy Gilmore 2 star gives testimony in the Bad Boy Records founder's sex-trafficking trial. Kid Cudi (a.k.a. Scott Mescudi) will take the stand in Judge Arun Subramanian's lower Manhattan courtroom on Thursday, prosecutors confirmed today. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey (Yes, as we've noted before, daughter of former FBI Director, U.S. Attorney and Trump foe James Comey), the feds expect Kid Cudi to be a brief witness. Along with the Grammy winner, the prosecution intends to call a total of five witnesses on Thursday – all to be dealt with quite quickly, they insist. RELATED: Joining the likes of Cassie Ventura, a couple of male escorts who were paid to have filmed sex with Ventura in the much-discussed 'freak-offs,' Ventura's mother and some law enforcement officials, Mescudi will be the 13th witness for the U.S. Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York in Combs' criminal case. Like every day of the trial, jury selection and pre-trial hearings, Combs was in court today, and will be tomorrow. Predicted to last eight weeks, the criminal trial of the much-accused Diddy follows his arrest last September on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and more. Incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest, after a trio of failed $50 million bail attempts, Diddy has always insisted he is innocent. He has taken the same position in the dozens of civil suits of abuse and assault that have been filed in the court dockets over the past several months. Rejecting a plea deal from the government, Combs could face life behind bars if found guilty in this criminal trial. RELATED: From the moment Cassie Ventura filed her very quickly settled ($20 million) abuse and assault suit against ex-boyfriend Combs in late 2023, the name of Kid Cudi has been connected to the self-described 'toxic relationship' between the 'Me & U' singer and the 'All About the Benjamins' performer. As various filings, plus testimony from Ventura and her mother have stated, the singer and Mescudi had a short romantic relationship in 2012. Along with various threats against the duo, a jealous Combs promised to blow up Kid Cudi's car in his own driveway to keep him away from Ventura. As Ventura's 2023 filing bluntly said: 'Around that time, Kid Cudi's car exploded in his driveway.' At the time, reps for Kid Cudi confirmed the car destruction from a decade before. Cudi will testify right after the jury has heard more from former Diddy executive assistant George Kaplan. In court Wednesday under the duress of a subpoena, like fellow Combs ex-EA David James who testified earlier this week, Kaplan entered the witness box around 11:45 a.m. PT. Detailing his gofer duties today to the court, Kaplan is known to have left Combs' employ after a year, in some part due to the violence he is said to have seen. Before Kaplan, this third day of the second week of Combs' May 12-starting trial heard testimony from psychologist Dawn Hughes and Homeland Security Investigations special agent Gerard Gannon. The latter was involved in the raid on Combs' Miami residence in the spring of 2024. Along with the Combs' trial, Kid Cudi will be back in lower Manhattan next month in a completely unrelated manner. Co-starring Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow, Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes and Brandon Scott, the rapper's short vampire themed film Neverland is set to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7. Directed by Ti West and produced by Jordan Peele, the short is connected to Kid Cudi's latest single of the same name.
