Is Basai waste plant expansion feasible? MCG will study
Gurgaon: MCG is planning to assess the financial viability of expanding the Basai construction and demolition (C&D) waste processing plant's capacity. The evaluation follows their proposal to the urban local bodies (ULB) department sent over a year ago, requesting an increase in the plant's processing capacity from 300 metric tonne per day to a minimum of 1,000 tonne per day (TPD). The ULB department, in collaboration with MCG, has decided to conduct a cost analysis to ensure the expansion doesn't strain the municipal body's financial resources "We are going to conduct a cost analysis of the existing plant before pushing for its extension. In addition to this, we are studying various successful models of collection, transportation and processing of C&D waste across the state," said a senior MCG official. The plant, inaugurated by former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar in 2017, started operations in Oct 2019. Since then, it has processed 300 TPD of construction waste. Moreover, in the absence of an agency to collect C&D waste, the one operating the plant has been given the contract to collect it from 15km radius of the plant. The civic body floated three tenders for C&D waste collection and transportation since Jan 2025 but failed to find contractors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Meanwhile, MCG officials said they have plans to revive the auto market C&D waste collection site and set up a construction waste collection centre in Sector 29. According to MCG estimates, the city produces around 1,500 to 2,000 tonnes of construction waste daily. As per the request for proposal (RFP), waste collection is a Rs 9-crore project which mandates the use of GPS-equipped vehicles and the establishment of a dedicated helpline for the resolution of complaints within 48 hours. The agency hired would also need to submit their vehicles' registration details and fitness certificates before starting work. However, agencies are not participating in the bid, officials said. In Sept last year, MCG hired nine private agencies for collecting C&D waste from across the city but had to terminate their contracts citing substandard performance.

Vatika Chowk elevated road set to mirror Dwarka Expressway
Gurgaon: GMDA is considering a plan to build a Dwarka Expressway-inspired elevated corridor on the Southern Peripheral Road, which – if approved – will facilitate a signal-free ride between the capital and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway without having to navigate city traffic. Officials told TOI on Monday that the authority hired a consultant this year to prepare a detailed project report to renovate SPR between Vatika Chowk and NH-8. The consultant submitted its design for this 5.5km stretch. "Detailed deliberation is currently going on, and we are also factoring in infrastructure proposed to be built along the stretch. The corridor will be designed not just for today's needs, but for the mobility requirements of the future. While we are in the process of finalising the design, the detailed project report is currently being prepared," a senior GMDA official said. According to the proposal, the elevated corridor will be a six-lane carriageway with no traffic signals, and ramps for entries and exits. It will be linked with the Dwarka Expressway and NH-8 through the existing cloverleaf intersection and will connect to the Sohna highway (which is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, NH-248A) at Vatika Chowk. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Descubra os melhores remédios e suplementos para impotência de 2025! Vice-versa, any commuter on the Sohna highway can reach Delhi without any hassle. Conceived in 2019, the plan to redevelop this SPR stretch has been pending for years. In 2022, administrative approval was given for construction of eight flyovers and widening of SPR to six lanes, but this proposal was scrapped after questions were raised about low traffic density on the stretch. A year later, then chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed GMDA to modify the design and explore the possibility of a direct elevated road to connect NH-248A with NH-8 and Dwarka Expressway. CM Nayab Singh Saini in July 2024 gave the green light for the elevated corridor. GMDA's board has sanctioned Rs 750 crore for the project, of which Rs 620 crore is for construction and Rs 130 crore for land acquisition. Residents said on Monday that SPR needs to be redeveloped. "Traffic volume on SPR has gone up over the past few years, and during peak hours, vehicles come to a crawl. Any effort for road repairs will not have a lasting impact as new projects are coming rapidly, and traffic volume will only grow. A redevelopment project is needed," said Rohit Malik, who lives in Sector 69.

Pushkar Singh Dhami government seeks over Rs 8,800 crore for energy, housing projects from centre
NEW DELHI: The Uttarakhand government has sought financial assistance of over Rs 8,800 crore from the Centre for a series of key infrastructure and housing initiatives aimed at boosting energy production and urban development in the state. In a meeting on Monday with union minister for power and housing and urban affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requested Rs 4,000 crore as viability gap funding (VGF) for hydroelectric projects in the Kumaon and Upper Yamuna regions and Rs 3,800 crore VGF for pump storage projects in remote and hilly areas. These projects are aimed at enhancing energy capacity and promoting local development. The CM also sought Rs 1,007.82 crore under the Power System Development Fund for two major transmission projects of state utility Pitkul, requesting full central funding for the same. Additionally, Dhami urged the undergrounding and automation of electricity lines in the Haridwar-Rishikesh region to reduce disruptions in the power network of this high-footfall pilgrimage zone. On the urban development front, Dhami flagged implementation challenges in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), particularly the cash flow issues arising from lump-sum central assistance. He requested that the phased assistance model (40:40:20), currently applicable to government land projects, also be extended to private land-based initiatives. He further sought clear guidelines for banks and NBFCs to ease credit access for EWS beneficiaries. The CM also urged an extension of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) from Modipuram Meerut Road to Haridwar to improve connectivity and economic growth in the state.
