Economic growth anchored in social justice under all Cong. govts: Bhatti

Economic growth anchored in social justice remains at the core of Congress governments and the work being undertaken in Telangana under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is a reflection of this conviction, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said here on Friday. Addressing the 6th edition of CSR and Sustainability Conference and Awards for 2024, organised by Assocham Southern Region, the Deputy CM said, 'In Telangana, we are shaping a new development narrative, one that does not separate economics from ethics. We are committed to building a State that is fiscally responsible, socially inclusive and environmentally conscious.' Look beyond balance sheets Asserting that true development is one that empowers people to stand on their feet, especially in today's 'world of unprecedented resources and extraordinary inequality,' Mr. Vikramarka urged business leaders to look beyond balance sheets to a future we are shaping together. Let us not act not out of charity but out of shared responsibility… work for transformation and build societies that flourish.' Telangana is an ideal destination for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The State provides a platform not just to fulfill CSR mandates, but to do so with 100% impact and transparency. He called upon companies across India to consider Telangana as a prime hub for their CSR investments. The State offers an industry-friendly ecosystem where there are no language barriers; law and order is maintained; and offering abundant, affordable skilled human resources, which the government had set out to enhance with initiatives such as the Young India integrated residential schools and the Young India Skills University. Above all, the State has a proactive, friendly government, the Deputy Chief Minister said. Telangana's competition is not as much with other Indian states as with developed nations. In sectors like healthcare, pharma, IT, and agriculture produce, the State has set an unmatched trajectory, he added. Real purpose of CSR is not ticking the box but recognising that growth without inclusion is fragile and that profits without purpose are hollow. Sustainability is not only about the environment, it is about human dignity too, he said. Assocham in a release said that special addresses, and panel discussions on various topics formed part of the conference. Over 20 organisations were presented awards across various categories for their contributions in CSR and sustainability.

Bhatti launches 1912 electricity ambulance service in Khammam

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that the 1912 Electricity Ambulances, manned by emergency response team personnel, have been deployed to attend to power supply interruptions promptly, on the lines of 108 medical emergency services. Consumers can dial 1912 from anywhere if there is a power issue to avail the services of the electricity ambulances equipped with ladder, electric cables and requisite tools. This service is available across the State, he noted. Mr. Vikramarka, who holds the portfolios of Energy and Finance, launched the 1912 electricity ambulance service of the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) and inaugurated a health camp for electricity department staff in Khammam on Wednesday. He also inaugurated a sub-station real-time feeder monitoring system and fault passage indicators at the electricity sub-station at Janakipuram in Bonakal mandal. He said that all power projects in the State, including the first to seventh phases of the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS), were initiated and completed under Congress rule. In contrast, not a single unit of electricity was added during the 10-year rule of BRS, he said, pointing out that though some projects were started, none were completed. 'During TRS rule, the demand in March 2023 was 15,000 MW, but under Congress rule, it rose to 17,162 MW by March 2025,' he added. Despite the surge in demand, uninterrupted power supply was maintained, he said, appreciating the electricity staff for providing quality services round-the-clock even during midnight and floods. Telangana will require 26,299 MW by 2029-30 and 33,773 MW by 2034-35, he said, quoting a Central government agency's report. The State government is already preparing estimates to double power generation to meet the future demand. The new Green Energy Policy envisages production of 20,000 MW of green energy by 2029-30, he noted. He emphasised that government is currently supplying free electricity to 29,000 agricultural pump sets on 24/7 basis and providing free electricity to eligible households up to 200 units benefiting over 50.71 lakh poor families. The government is spending ₹11,500 crore annually on behalf of farmers and paying ₹2,293 crore to power utilities for free electricity scheme up to 200 units. Later, the Deputy Chief Minister, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, laid the foundation stone for a new bus stand in Madhira town at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore.

Telangana Deputy CM Vikramarka launches broadside against BRS leaders over Kaleshwaram project

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has criticised BRS leaders for 'shamelessly' promoting the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) as a 'mega project' despite serious safety concerns raised by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). The NDSA has flagged the project as extremely dangerous, citing discrepancies between its design and actual construction. Speaking at a public meeting in Bhupalpally on Tuesday, Mr. Vikramarka launched a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, alleging that ₹1 lakh crore was misappropriated in the name of KLIP. 'How can BRS leaders call this an engineering marvel,' he asked. He referred to the collapse of piers and structural flaws in the Medigadda barrage, pointing out that the NDSA had confirmed the construction did not match the approved design. In contrast, he said, irrigation projects built by successive Congress governments, such as SRSP, Sripada Yellampally, Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam, have stood the test of time without such failures. Earlier in the day, Mr. Vikramarka and IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated a 33/11 kV sub-station and laid foundation stones for three power sub-stations worth ₹8.70 crore in the district. Continuing his attack on the previous administration, Mr. Vikramarka blamed the Kaleshwaram project fiasco on the undue interference of BRS leaders in engineering decisions. He said qualified engineers were sidelined and political interference compromised the integrity of the design and construction. Highlighting the Congress government's achievements, he pointed out that Telangana recorded a peak power demand of 17,162 MW in March 2025 — 2,000 MW more than March 2023 during the BRS regime — without a single minute of power interruption. He called it a significant milestone in the State's power sector performance. Mr. Vikramarka also said the government had released ₹16,000 crore to power utilities under the 24-hour free power scheme for farmers. In addition, free power is being supplied to 50,000 families (up to 200 units) and all government institutions. Later, at a review meeting with senior officials of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Bhupalpally, the Deputy Chief Minister urged the management to diversify into other mining sectors beyond coal to adapt to evolving market trends. He also suggested appointing consultants to assess global demand and availability of critical minerals. He said strengthening the SCCL, a public sector enterprise with over 45,000 employees, is a key goal of the State government to ensure livelihood opportunities for future generations. He emphasised that the entire region spanning the vast coal belt must benefit in terms of welfare and development.

Congress government committed to farmer welfare: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the Congress government's commitment to farmers' welfare despite criticism from BRS leaders. Speaking at the Rythu Nestham programme, Vikramarka said the government had faced several challenges but had remained steadfast in assisting farmers. 'We have faced all sorts of challenges and have stood by farmers,' he said. Vikramarka alleged that BRS leaders were attempting to malign the government. 'While this government is providing help and cooperation to the people, BRS leaders are burning with jealousy. Even BRS leaders themselves have admitted their party is filled with evil spirits. Today, these spirits are making a spectacle. Chase them away, don't allow them into your villages,' he said. He outlined the government's vision for the agricultural sector, expressing hope that farmers would prosper and that crops would flourish. He assured that new welfare schemes would be introduced in the coming months. Vikramarka stressed that the Congress government had not discontinued any welfare scheme introduced by the previous regime and was implementing additional programmes aimed at supporting farmers. He pointed out that within three to four months of taking office, the government had deposited Rs 21,000 crore under the farmer loan waiver scheme, an initiative unmatched by any other state.
