Huge sign AC/DC is set to announce an Australian tour after rumours the rock band would return to home turf - and which city will be their first stop?

Speculation has swirled for weeks suggesting AC/ DC is set to announce an appearance Down Under at the end of 2025 for their Power Up World Tour. Now, one huge sign in Melbourne, spotted by live music watchdog Whatslively, may have just confirmed the rumours. The iconic Nylex Clock silos in Cremorne lit up on Friday night with a projection of a red lightning bolt which looked almost identical to the infamous AC/DC logo. Melbourne locals would recognise the heritage listed silos as an iconic landmark built in 1961 by Neon Electric Signs, not far from the Melbourne Cricket Grounds (MCG). The link is yet another hint AC/DC may be coming to Australia, as rumours have recently emerged they are set to play the MCG in November. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 3AW's Rumour File said on Monday they had 'confirmed' from an inside source AC/DC would play at the venue on November 12 and 16 this year. It would mark the first time the Aussie rock band has returned to their home turf since the 2015 Rock or Bust tour. The Power Up Tour is in support of the band's seventeenth studio album Power Up, released in 2020. The group kicked-off their global shows in Germany in May 2024 with confirmed legs throughout Europe and North America. AC/DC have yet to confirm a tour in Australia this year. Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the MCG for further comment. AC/DC were last rumoured to be announcing a world stadium tour, with Brian Johnson resuming his position on vocals, in 2020. Broadcaster Eddie McGuire leaked the news on his Triple M Melbourne breakfast show at the time. 'The greatest rock band in the history of Australian music will be reforming and playing in Australia in October/November this year!' he announced. 'My mail is, there will be a new album released by AC/DC in February or March this year, but also that AC/DC will be touring Australia [in] October/November 2020. 'And after a lot of work and a lot of technical research they have been able to get a hearing aid for Brian Johnson, who will be out front, and even Phil Rudd might be back in the group either playing percussion or drums.' Brian's hearing problems forced him to leave the band mid-tour in 2016. He was temporarily replaced by Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, who served as vocalist for the band's remaining concerts. Doctors had advised the frontman, 77, to either quit performing live or face the possibility of 'total hearing loss'. 'That was the darkest day of my professional life,' Brian said of the diagnosis at the time. Eddie also claimed lead guitarist Angus Young would join the tour, as well as drummer Phil Rudd, who left the group in 2014 amid legal troubles. 'I'm hearing the album will be out February [or] March, and we'll all be banging our heads like the old days,' he added. However, rumours of AC/DC's return to Australia in 2020 fell flat as the band never announced a tour Down Under, despite releasing an album at the time. AC/DC was formed in Sydney in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Following the death of lead singer Bon Scott from acute alcoholic poisoning at the age of 33 in 1980, Brian was hired to replace him. Rhythm guitarist Malcolm was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 and retired to a Sydney nursing home. He died on November 18, 2017 at the age of 64.

‘Not at the level we expect': Australia drop Marnus Labuschagne for first time in six years for 1st West Indies Test

A week on from their ICC World Test Championship final defeat, Australia have made two changes, including the axe of batter Marnus Labuschagne for the first time in six years from the Test XI since he burst onto the scene. After five scattered Test appearances, Labuschagne took to the spotlight during the 2019 Ashes at Lord's when he came in as a concussion substitute, replacing Steve Smith who is also ruled out of the forthcoming Test in the Caribbean due to a finger injury he suffered during the WTC final. Labuschagne had since gone on to compile 11 Test hundreds and amass over 4000 Test runs while leading the charts for Australia for the majority of the three WTC editions. However, a barren run since December 2022 had Labuschagne's Test average take a massive dip from 60 to below 47 this year. The 30-year-old was moved up to open the batting in the WTC final defeat to South Africa, making only 39 runs in two innings. 'Marnus at his best can be a really important member of this team. He understands his output hasn't been at the level we, or he, expects,' Australia chairman of selectors George Bailey said in a statement. 'We will continue working with him on the areas of his game we feel he needs to rediscover. We continue to value his skill and expect him to work through the challenge positively.' Post the WTC final loss, Australia head coach Andrew McDonald had sounded out that the team would back Labuschagne to bounce back in the Caribbean. 'He's missed out on big scores. He threatened at the MCG (when he) got a pair of 70s, and, you know, if they had been a pair of hundreds, the conversation shifts as well. 'But we're confident that he could return to his best and hence (that is) why we keep picking him. It is at what point do we stop picking him?' Konstas, Inglis in Sam Konstas who made a sprightly debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take Labuschagne's spot while Josh Inglis will replace the injured Smith after having notched up a century against Sri Lanka on debut in February. Australia tour of West Indies schedule, squads First Test: June 25-29, Bridgetown, Barbados Second Test: July 3-7, St George's, Grenada Third Test: July 12-16, Kingston, Jamaica Australia Test squad: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster West Indies Test squad: Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican (vc), Kevlon Anderson, Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Mikyle Louis, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales

Australia in West Indies: Marnus Labuschagne dropped for first Test but Sam Konstas and Josh Inglis named

Marnus Labuschagne has been axed from Australia's Test team in a sensational move six days out from the first match against the West Indies. Australian selectors have taken the rare step to reveal two changes to the side almost a week before the start of the series. They have confirmed on Friday morning teenage sensation Sam Konstas and West Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will both return to the team for the first Test in Barbados. Steve Smith has been ruled out of the match with his dislocated finger — but is pushing to be available for the rest of the series — while the poor run of form that has plagued Labuschagne for two years has finally caught up to him. Labuschagne has not posted a Test century since the 2023 Ashes series, which was also the last time he averaged more than 30 in a season. He scored 17 and 22 in Australia's World Test Championship final defeat to South Africa last week. 'Marnus at his best can be a really important member of this team,' selection chair George Bailey said. 'He understands his output hasn't been at the level we, or he, expects. We will continue working with him on the areas of his game we feel he needs to rediscover. 'We continue to value his skill and expect him to work through the challenge positively.' A final team for the match — which begins next Wednesday — has not been confirmed, but it is likely Konstas will open the batting and Inglis slots into the middle-order, possibly at Smith's vacant No.4 It will be Konstas' third Test for Australia after lighting up the MCG with his cavalier attack on Jasprit Bumrah on Boxing Day, where he ramped, scooped and slashed his way to a remarkable 60 off 65 balls. Inglis made a century in Galle against Sri Lanka in his only Test. 'Steve needs more time for the wound to heal so we'll give him another week's rest and assess his functionality after that,' Bailey said. 'We have made the decision to give Josh and Sam the opportunity to replace Steve and Marnus. We are excited to see them get the chance to further their fledgling Test careers. 'In his only opportunity in Test cricket to date, Josh was outstanding in Sri Lanka, showing great intent and ability to put pressure on the opposition.'

Is Basai waste plant expansion feasible? MCG will study

Gurgaon: MCG is planning to assess the financial viability of expanding the Basai construction and demolition (C&D) waste processing plant's capacity. The evaluation follows their proposal to the urban local bodies (ULB) department sent over a year ago, requesting an increase in the plant's processing capacity from 300 metric tonne per day to a minimum of 1,000 tonne per day (TPD). The ULB department, in collaboration with MCG, has decided to conduct a cost analysis to ensure the expansion doesn't strain the municipal body's financial resources "We are going to conduct a cost analysis of the existing plant before pushing for its extension. In addition to this, we are studying various successful models of collection, transportation and processing of C&D waste across the state," said a senior MCG official. The plant, inaugurated by former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar in 2017, started operations in Oct 2019. Since then, it has processed 300 TPD of construction waste. Moreover, in the absence of an agency to collect C&D waste, the one operating the plant has been given the contract to collect it from 15km radius of the plant. The civic body floated three tenders for C&D waste collection and transportation since Jan 2025 but failed to find contractors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Meanwhile, MCG officials said they have plans to revive the auto market C&D waste collection site and set up a construction waste collection centre in Sector 29. According to MCG estimates, the city produces around 1,500 to 2,000 tonnes of construction waste daily. As per the request for proposal (RFP), waste collection is a Rs 9-crore project which mandates the use of GPS-equipped vehicles and the establishment of a dedicated helpline for the resolution of complaints within 48 hours. The agency hired would also need to submit their vehicles' registration details and fitness certificates before starting work. However, agencies are not participating in the bid, officials said. In Sept last year, MCG hired nine private agencies for collecting C&D waste from across the city but had to terminate their contracts citing substandard performance.
