€80m Liverpool deal is now OFF

Luis Diaz to Barcelona is off Barcelona went into this transfer window wanting a winger and all suggestions were that Luis Diaz topped their list. Sporting director Deco has been a fan of the Colombian for a while now, and Diaz's contract talks with Liverpool have been at a standstill with just two years remaining on his deal. Sport were among those claiming he was priority no.1. Liverpool hoped to get €80m out of a sale, slapping that price tag on Diaz and seeing if Barcelona would bite.

Liverpool preparing offer for £75m England forward

Then there's the case of Luis Diaz. Out of contract in 2027, he could be sold to either Barcelona or a team in the Saudi Pro League in order to avoid losing him for a diminished fee. Anthony Gordon back on the radar Those sales would pave the way for a high-quality replacement. Advertisement And there is no question which winger would come out on top of the Reds' wishlist. Liverpool were tantalisingly close to agreeing a deal for Newcastle's Anthony Gordon last summer. The move ultimately fell apart at the final hurdle - with Liverpool said to be reluctant to add Jarell Quansah to the deal. The Magpies needed big sales in order to comply with PSR regulations and ended up getting rid of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead. Gordon stayed put - signing a new deal in October - but Liverpool haven't gone away. © IMAGO - Anthony Gordon Liverpool Liverpool prepared to make offer for Gordon A new report by DAVEOCKOP claims that club execs have maintained contact with Gordon's representatives and are ready with an offer this summer. Advertisement It would require some of Liverpool's current wing options being shipped out first - and Gordon has been valued at around £75m. 'Liverpool have remained in active contact with Anthony Gordon's representatives since last summer,' the report reads. 'The Anfield club are prepared to make a significant move for the Newcastle United winger if one of their current forwards departs this summer – with the likes of Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez, and even Luis Diaz facing less than certain futures on Merseyside. 'The Reds' interest in the England international has persisted following their failed attempt to secure his services.' Advertisement Last season wasn't his best, scoring six goals and adding five assists as the Geordies regained their Champions League status. He fell out of the lineup towards the end of the campaign but the England international remains a high-class player. Gordon enjoys a friendship with Curtis Jones and was on Liverpool's books during his schoolboy days.

New Liverpool talks signal Luis Diaz EXIT

Liverpool may well be signalling Luis Diaz's exit from Anfield. They've entered talks over a replacement. Luis Diaz's future is firmly up in the air despite his best season in a Liverpool shirt so far. The Colombian scored 13 Premier League goals across the title-winning campaign, assisting another five. Diaz has two years remaining on his deal, which is the initial deal he signed when moving to Anfield in 2022. There have been no pay bumps, no extensions, and little to convince Diaz that Liverpool are ready to invest in him further. Then comes the interest from elsewhere hoping to capitalise on that. Barcelona are eager to sign Diaz, with sporting director Deco viewing him as an ideal signing. There's also interest from Al-Nassr, who hope to find a blockbuster summer signing. Would Liverpool sell? We imagine they would for a major offer - Diaz is 28, not quite an untouchable member of the team, and this is the final chance to get a substantial fee for him. Advertisement So with that in mind, new Liverpool talks appear to be very notable. Malick Fofana in, Luis Diaz Out? L'Équipe reports that Liverpool have entered discussions with agency Roc Nation over Malick Fofana. The Lyon star is a wanted man right now after 11 goals last season. Liverpool are now one of the teams seeing if a deal is possible and that's immediately interesting. The Reds have two left-wingers in their first-team squad with both Diaz and Cody Gakpo. It seems incredibly unlikely that Fofana would want to move to Anfield and compete with two senior players. It also seems unlikely that Liverpool would pay money to have three left-wingers. The deal only really makes sense if Diaz is off, with Fofana then a perfect backup to Gakpo. The hope there would be that the Belgian develops as everyone expects, surpassing the Dutchman and taking the spot for himself. Advertisement That's the kind of competition Liverpool like: an established starter and a player who has what it takes to overtake him in the pecking order. We just don't see why there would be any interest in Fofana unless Diaz is off. There is the case where Gakpo is the one to leave - but that seems a lot less likely at this stage. Either way, the Fofana interest points to a major exit one way or another.

Malick Fofana agent has already dropped major Liverpool transfer claim as enquiry made

Liverpool are among a number of clubs being linked with young Lyon winger Malick Fofana. And if the Reds choose to pursue an interest in the 20-year-old, they may have a significant advantage over other potential suitors. Advertisement Chelsea have reportedly made a verbal enquiry about Belgium international Fofana, who scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 41 appearances for Lyon this season. At present, the Reds are well stocked on the left flank with Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz having vied for the position throughout the recent title-winning season. However, there are doubts over Diaz's long-term future with the player having admitted holding talks with other clubs - Barcelona and the Saudi Pro League are among those monitoring his situation - with two years left on his Liverpool contract to run. Speaking about Fofana's next club, his representatives from BF SportsPartner told Africafoot earlier this year: "The choice of heart would be Liverpool. He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and El-Hadji Diouf. "He has the profile to succeed in the Premier League. He possesses qualities similar to those of Manchester United's Amad Diallo, namely speed, impact, and the ability to create opportunities. "There's no doubt he can shine. For him, this would be an opportunity to continue his development and, above all, to showcase his talent in a league that favours transitional play. "However, he'll have to choose the right club, as competition is fierce across the (English) Channel."

Barcelona fear Liverpool will ask a fortune for top attacking target after key purchase

Barcelona fear Liverpool will ask a fortune for top attacking target after key purchase Liverpool appear to be on the verge of securing the services of Florian Wirtz, who is set to join from Bayer Leverkusen on a big-money move. Wirtz will easily become the biggest purchase in Liverpool's history, which may even have a trickle-down effect on the club's transfer activity this summer. Advertisement At least that is what Barcelona think. Barcelona's fear about Luis Diaz According to Victor Navarro, Barcelona fear that Liverpool may ask for a fortune for Luis Diaz after paying a hefty fee for Wirtz. The club, though, have set a strict boundary and are not expected to pay more than €60 million for the winger. Barcelona, therefore, will not entertain any move for the Colombian international if Liverpool ask for anywhere between €65-80 million. Barcelona face a tricky situation with regards to the Luis Diaz pursuit (Photo by) This comes on the back of earlier reports which claimed that Luis Diaz, despite being Deco's favourite, has been overtaken by Nico Williams as Barcelona's top target. Advertisement The Catalans are, in fact, looking at potential solutions that will allow them to meet the Spaniard's €62 million release clause at Athletic Club. Barcelona, though, do have an advantage should they go after Luis Diaz instead. Unlike Nico, they can afford to pay for the Colombian through various instalments. Not to mention, the Nico deal does seem all too sudden, with many in the Barcelona camp even raising concerns over the club's pursuit of the Spaniard. Nico's close proximity to Lamine Yamal and other Barcelona players could be a major risk factor, though it appears Joan Laporta is ready to overlook the issue and sign the player regardless.
