‘We no longer have any association with Anmol Bishnoi: fresh audio shows rift between Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar
A purported audio clip has further revealed a rift between two of India's most notorious gangsters — Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail, and his once-close aide Goldy Brar. Sources recently told The Indian Express that Central intelligence agencies and state police have said Bishnoi and Brar have parted ways after Bishnoi got upset with Brar and Azerbaijan-based gangster Rohit Godara over their handling of his brother Anmol's case in the US. 'Central intelligence agencies received information that Brar and Godara did not help Anmol file the required bail bond. Anmol was later released but with an ankle bracelet tracker,' a source said. Lawrence Bishnoi's brother was arrested by US immigration authorities in November last year for allegedly travelling with fake documents. Also Read | New headache for sleuths tracking gangsters: Lawrence Bishnoi & Goldy Brar part ways The latest clip, purportedly released by Goldy Brar and going viral on social media, further suggests the two are no longer on the same page, despite having previously claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The Punjab Police said they are looking into the audio's authenticity. 'Goldy Brar is booked in several terror-related cases. We are examining the audio. But it won't matter what he says. Law will take its own course,' said a Punjab Police officer. 'Misinformation is being spread on social media' In the 2-minute 40-second audio, Goldy Brar is allegedly heard claiming responsibility for a June 17 shooting incident in Ganganagar, Rajasthan. The target, Ashish Gupta, was shot in the leg. 'The attack on Ashish Gupta in Ganganagar was planned by me and Rohit Godara. He was not meant to be killed — only taught a lesson. That's why we shot him in the leg. If he doesn't understand this time, next time he'll be shot in the head. No issue,' Brar can be heard saying. Brar also claims that 'misinformation' is being spread on social media, where the attack was allegedly claimed in the name of Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother. 'We no longer have any association with Anmol Bishnoi. All our brothers have been clearly informed about this,' Brar says. 'Never acted against the nation' Goldy Brar also denies allegations of having any links with Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's intelligence agency. 'I urge the media and administration to confirm facts before labelling someone a patriot or a traitor. We have never acted against the nation,' he can be heard saying in the clip. Lawrence Bishnoi had made similar claims in an interview aired just before Sidhu Moosewala's first death anniversary in March 2023. 'I am not anti-national. I am a nationalist. I am against Khalistan. I am against Pakistan,' Bishnoi had said. Also Read | Declare Lawrence Bishnoi gang a terrorist group, says BC premier Location unknown While Goldy Brar's current location remains unclear, security agencies say he fled to the US after Moosewala's murder, even as some reports claimed he could be in Canada. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann once claimed that Brar had been arrested in the US, but no official confirmation followed. In September 2022, the Centre and Punjab authorities claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, Anmol Bishnoi, had been detained in Kenya. However, in April 2023, videos surfaced on social media showing Anmol dancing at a wedding event in the US, raising suspicions that Brar had arranged shelter for him. In November 2024, again, there were unconfirmed reports that Anmol Bishnoi was arrested for illegal stay in the US. So far, neither the US nor Canadian authorities have made any official statement on Goldy Brar. The apparent fallout between Brar and the Bishnoi, combined with the denial of ISI links, has added a new dimension to the ongoing gang conflict.

Surrey trucking company targeted twice in suspected extortion case
A Surrey business owner says his business was shot at early Thursday morning, about 24 hours after a previous incident. Raghbir Singh Nijjar, owner of Nijjar Trucking, which is in an industrial area in northwest Surrey, said someone shot at the building and the company cars parked in the lot. When Surrey Police Service officers arrived on the scene, they found bullet casings. No one was inured, even though staff were inside when the shooting happened, but the shooting happened just under 24 hours after vehicles were damaged at the same location. On Wednesday, June 18, at approximately 3:50 a.m., suspects used gasoline to damage vehicles but were scared off by on-site security. SPS officers arrived on scene and gathered evidence from this incident as well. Nijjar said that about a year ago, someone called his business and demanded money for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Story continues below advertisement India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) describes the group as a criminal gang headed by Lawrence Bishnoi, whose lawyer says contests more than 40 cases accusing him of crimes such as murder and extortion. He said he is scared of what is going on. 'We (are) working every day,' he added. 'We (are doing) hard work. We (have been here) since '91. That's why we came over here (for) safety and (a) better future.' 2:15 Maple Ridge shooting believed tied to extortion attempts Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton with the Surrey Police Service would not confirm on Thursday that these incidents are linked to extortion. Story continues below advertisement 'Well, we'll be looking at all of the motives and all potential links, whether it's to past investigations and this current investigation, as with any investigation, we have to let the evidence dictate the course of that investigation,' he said. 'It may turn out that it is related to previous investigations or previous incidents, but we have to let the investigation take its course.' This incident comes after a home in Maple Ridge was shot at twice in what is believed to be linked to an extortion attempt and last week, the brazen murder of an Abbotsford man with no known criminal ties reignited extortion fears in B.C.'s Lower Mainland. In this case, SPS's Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) has assumed conduct of both investigations. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-50413 (SP) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or

Brampton mayor echoes call for PM to label Bishnoi gang a terrorist group
Social Sharing Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is joining a call for the federal government to declare the Lawrence Bishnoi gang a terrorist organization, saying the India-based gang has been linked to crime and violence in the Peel region. Brown said Peel police suspect the notorious gang has been involved in cases of extortion and targeted shootings in the region. "They terrorize communities, they terrorize individuals and, and you know, they're a predatory organization," Brown said in an interview with CBC Radio's Metro Morning host David Common Thursday. "They're a transnational crime run out of a different country, it's a threat that we haven't had to deal with in a very long time." Earlier this week, B.C. Premier David Eby called on the federal government to list the gang as a terrorist group over concerns that the group has been involved in extortions and other crimes against the South Asian community. Eby said Tuesday that he would write to Prime Minister Mark Carney to ask that the gang be given the terrorist designation "to enable police to be able to use the necessary tools to investigate." Brown said he believes the designation would help Peel police investigate similar crimes in the region. Attempts to repair Canada-India relationship The calls come the same week Canada and India agreed to reinstate their high commissioners and look at renewed visa services for each other's citizens and businesses. Carney announced the move after a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit in Alberta. The two countries expelled each other's high commissioners, senior diplomats who are similar to ambassadors, last fall after the RCMP accused the Indian government of playing a role in a network of violence in Canada, including homicides and extortions. The RCMP also claimed that the Bishnoi gang was targeting members of the pro-Khalistan movement on Canadian soil, allegedly at the behest of the Indian government. Labelling the Indian gang a terrorist group could complicate Carney's attempts to rebuild the Canada-India relationship, given those past allegations, said Sanjay Ruparelia, Jarislowsky Democracy Chair at Toronto Metropolitan University and an expert on Indian politics. "It's complicated because the claim last year in October was that they were used as a proxy for these operations in Canada. That's the allegation," he said. "Now … we've had what seems like the beginning of a reset, of a breakthrough." Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said Wednesday that he was aware of Eby's comments but hasn't received an official request.
