"Act Of Terror Will Be Considered An Act Of War"": PM Modi Tells Trump
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed US President Donald Trump that India will regard any act of terrorism, not as proxy actions, but as acts of war, stated Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Wednesday. The Prime Minister, during a 35-minute-long phone conversation, also conveyed to Trump that India does not seek and will never accept any mediation on matters related to Pakistan. President Trump, according to Mr Misri, fully understood India's position and expressed support for its fight against terrorism. PM Modi also informed Trump that India will consider any terror act emanating from Pakistan as an act of war, and that Operation Sindoor remains ongoing. Mr Misri revealed that this conversation between the two leaders was their first since the Pahalgam terror attack and India's retaliatory Operation Sindoor. The call took place after a scheduled in-person meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the G7 Summit was cancelled due to Trump's early return to the US. "The phone conversation was held at the request of President Trump," said Misri, adding that PM Modi used the opportunity to detail India's measured military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 innocent tourists. The attack was claimed by The Resistance Front, a group affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. "Prime Minister Modi said that on the night of May 6-7, India had targeted only terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India's actions were very measured, precise, and non-escalatory," Mr Misri said. "India had made it clear that it would respond to Pakistan's 'goli' with 'gola' (a strong, proportionate military response)," he said. Operation Sindoor saw India strike nine high-value terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and PoK. In response, Pakistan launched military strikes not only on Indian military infrastructure but also on civilian and religious sites, prompting further escalation. The Foreign Secretary also disclosed that on the night of May 9, US Vice President Vance conveyed to PM Modi that Pakistan could launch a major retaliatory strike. "Prime Minister Modi told him clearly that if this happens, India will respond with even greater force. India's strong counterattack on the night of May 9-10 caused heavy damage to Pakistan's military. Several of their airbases were rendered inoperable," Mr Misri said. He noted that following India's forceful retaliation, Pakistan approached India with a ceasefire request. "Prime Minister Modi stated that the ceasefire was agreed to only at the request of Pakistan and that India does not want mediation. He made it clear that at no point during this episode were India-US trade talks or third-party mediation discussed," Mr Misri stated. "The halt to military action was discussed directly between the two countries through existing military channels," he added. Reiterating India's long-standing position, Misri said, "Prime Minister Modi stressed that India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it, and will never accept it. There is complete political unanimity in India on this issue." President Trump reportedly asked if PM Modi could stop by the US on his return from Canada, but the Prime Minister expressed his inability due to prior commitments. However, both leaders agreed to try to meet soon. The conversation also covered international developments, including the Iran-Israel conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war. Both leaders agreed that direct dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv is necessary for peace. "They also discussed the Indo-Pacific and the vital role of the QUAD. Prime Minister Modi invited President Trump to India for the next QUAD summit, and President Trump accepted the invitation," Mr Misri said.

New Delhi [India], June 16 (ANI): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on Monday praised the decision of the Indian government to send seven multi-party parliamentary delegations to highlight the issue of cross-border terrorism and asserted that the issue of nationalism and national security were 'beyond political parties and interests.' He said that all-party delegations visiting foreign countries have invoked the 'right responses' both inside and outside the nation. 'I appeal to everyone -- particularly those in the political class of the country -- that issues of nationalism and national security are beyond political parties and interests. I am happy to note that a visionary step by the Prime Minister -- to send an all-party delegation of Members of Parliament abroad -- has evoked the right response, in the country and outside. All political parties converged. That is the Bharat we need -- every day on national security and national development. I am sure this will go a long way,' Dhankar said while interacting with students and faculty members at JIPMER Pondicherry. Underlining the success of Operation Sindoor, Dhankhar stated India destroyed the headquarters of terrorist organisations such as Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba under its policy of 'zero tolerance for terrorism.' 'About two months back, all of us were concerned, worried, and traumatised. On April 22, in Pahalgam, the terrorists struck us -- they challenged our ethos. The world's most peace-loving nation, a nation that has never engaged in expansionism, was visited by this horrendous terrorist attack. The Prime Minister pledged to the nation: We will have zero tolerance for terrorism. And, I must congratulate our Armed Forces for having vindicated the promise of the Prime Minister, because Muridke and Bahawalpur are witnesses to the testimony of the potency of our BrahMos. The headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba were demolished -- devastatingly -- by calibrated, precise, and calculated attacks,' the VP said. He said that through Operation Sindoor, which was carried out in retaliation for the ghastly Pahalgam terrorist attack, the world has come to realise the importance of the indigenous production of defence material for India. 'The evidence was given to the entire world -- that this is a different Bharat: bold, confident, but calculated. Because war is not a solution. Prime Minister Modi has hinted -- we are not living in an era of war. We have to take recourse to diplomacy and dialogue. But the message has gone loud and clear. The world has come to realise that indigenous production of defence material means a lot to us,' he asserted. 'For any progress, peace is an essential aspect, and peace comes from a position of strength. The best guarantee to peace is that we are ever prepared for war, and that comes when the national mindset is nation first. We have to believe in our nationalism', he added. The Vice President argued in favour of developing more diagnostic centres and greater research while focusing on the significance of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. 'Ayushman Bharat means, we need more human resources in the shape of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. We need more diagnostic centres, more outlets for medicines, we need greater research. We need springing of hospitals, healthcare centres, both in public and private sector,' Dhankar said. He added, 'Health of the nation is fundamental for growth. A person may be very talented, very keen, committed. He wants to give everything to society, he doesn't have self interest. But what if he's not in good health! Who is ever keen to contribute for welfare of others becomes an object of sympathy by others. Therefore, Fit India can be the only answer and you are its watchdogs.' (ANI)

Participants were grouped based on experience—from first-term MLAs to those in their third or ninth term—encouraging peer learning and shared reflection. Several participants reflected on the impact of the session. Concluding the camp, Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma confirmed that the training was a focused and serious effort to equip lawmakers for principled public life. Though senior BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and 15 MLAs were unable to attend, the overall turnout and depth of discussion were seen as strong signs of internal cohesion and preparation.
