Boy missing after crossing overflowing stream found dead in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: The body of an 11-year-old boy, Aman Jalaluddin Bhaldar, was recovered Friday noon from an overflowing stream at Sarnobatwadi village in Kolhapur. Aman, a Class 6 student, had been missing since Thursday evening after attempting to cross the swollen stream on his bicycle to attend tuition classes. According to district disaster management head Prasad Sankpal, Aman lost control while cycling over the bridge, which was submerged by the overflowing water, and was swept away. "A search operation began on Thursday night, but was suspended due to heavy rain and darkness. Kolhapur Disaster Rescue Force (KDRF) resumed the search on Friday morning, locating the boy's body in nearby bushes. We urge the people to avoid entering flowing waters during heavy rainfall," Sankpal said.
