Harrison County Chamber holds 2025 legislative preview lunch
BRIDGEPORT, (WBOY) — To give its members an opportunity to meet with local representatives before they head to Charleston for the 2025 West Virginia Regular Legislative Session, the Harrison County Chamber hosted its annual legislative preview lunch on Tuesday. Chamber President Kathy Wagner said that another important facet of this annual event is to allow delegates and senators to share with the community what they expect to see in the upcoming session. 'It's gonna be interesting,' Wagner said of the coming session, with the committee structure being a little different this year and Governor Patrick Morrisey recently announcing a potential state deficit. How a federal funding freeze could impact programs across West Virginia 'So, that's always a question and we wanna monitor taxes on business, keep track of infrastructure in Harrison County and north central West Virginia, and just make sure that there's nothing that would be a detriment to the business climate,' she added. Wagner added that it's important to ensure that business owners and the local community are aware of what's going on and who to reach out to with any concerns. 'If there is an issue, you wanna make sure you […] know who your delegates and representatives are.' The Harrison County Chamber invited both district senators and all four of the delegates who represent Harrison County to attend this luncheon. After they were given the floor to speak about what they anticipate is coming up during the session, attendees got to participate in a Q&A to discuss matters that are important to them as well. Wagner stated that she was grateful to have a great turnout, adding that the chamber is appreciative of the representatives for all they do for Harrison County residents in Charleston.
