Ruru Madrid says 'Green Bones' changed him: 'Habang-buhay kong ipagpapasalamat'

Ruru Madrid expressed gratitude and pride anew after 'Green Bones' premiered on Netflix this week. The Kapuso Primetime Action Hero and 'Lolong' star took to Instagram to announce the film's availability on the streaming platform, and said it's a film "na habang-buhay kong ipagpapasalamat—at ipagmamalaki ko kahit kanino.' 'This film didn't just challenge me… it changed me,' he said. Ruru said he hopes more people would watch 'Green Bones' and learn lessons from it just like he did. 'Para sa sining. Para sa bansa. At para sa ating lahat na pinipili pa ring maging mabuti sa mundong ito,' Ruru said. 'Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta—ngayon pa lang, ramdam ko na kayo,' he added. Produced by GMA Pictures, "Green Bones" is directed by Zig Dulay based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs. The story centers on Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what. The film swept several awards at the MMFF 2024: Best Picture, Best Screenplay, (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens). It also won four accolades at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards: First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig). —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News

Kylie Padilla admits it's painful to see fellow Sang'gres incomplete: 'I'm heartbroken every time I watch it'

Kylie Padilla admitted that it is painful for her to see her "Encantadia" sisters, Glaiza De Castro, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez, incomplete because of her exit from the well-loved Kapuso series. In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the Kapuso actress said their opening scene for "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" is "bittersweet." "Kasi siyempre I know my role in the whole series. Super ganda ng mangyayari kay Amihan, especially when it comes to the birth of the new Sang'gres. Kasama si Amihan do'n," she said. "But then, also sad, because, 'yon, patay pa rin si Amihan. She's still an Ivtre (spirit). So sad ako nga ako every time na I watch it and I see my three sisters nang wala si Amihan. I'm heartbroken every time I watch it," she added. She also looked back at the time when she had to exit the show after getting pregnant. "Sobrang pinaghirapan ko para lang magustuhan 'yung Amihan ko, 'yung version ni Amihan. And then, at the height, I got pregnant. It was unexpected. And I really didn't know how else to handle it," she said. Kylie acknowledged that her pregnancy may have shocked the project's creatives and writers on how they will adjust the story. "Sobrang malaking ano—not just regret, it's a huge—feeling ko kaya ko pang bumawi. Sana. 'Yun 'yung expectation ko dito. Dream kong mapanood kami ulit na kumpleto kami nang hindi patay si Amihan. Pambawi lang sa mga kapatid ko," she said. "It's really painful to see them not complete just because of me," Kylie said. Per Kylie, she and her "Encantadia" sisters never really talked about their reaction to her sudden pregnancy. "Siyempre kinongratulate. 'Congratulations. Happy for you,' ganiyan. Pero never namin napag-usapan 'yung how they felt after I left. Never. Siyempre ako din may fear ako na baka may disappointment," she said. "Sang'gre" is a spinoff of the iconic Kapuso fantaserye "Encantadia." It will introduce the newest keepers of the brilyantes: Terra (Bianca Umali), Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), and Deia (Angel Guardian). "Sang'gre" airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." You can also watch it online via the Kapuso Stream on YouTube. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News

Pokwang explains why she will use comedy when judging on 'Stars on the Floor'

Pokwang is all set to bring in the laughs for her stint as a judge on 'Stars on the Floor.' Although she is part of the panel of judges, also called the Dance Authority, everybody's favorite Mamang will bring her signature high-energy comedy to the show. At the series' grand media conference, Pokwang said her past experiences inspire her style of judging. Pokwang started her career by participating in dance contests and as a professional dancer and choreographer. She added that the judges see the contestants' nerves and exhaustion. 'Kailangan naman natin balansehin. Tawa-tawa tayo,' Pokwang said. As a judge, she is looking for a contestant's determination, eagerness, and ''yung hindi sila talaga matatakot harapin kung ano 'yung mga ibibigay sa kanila na genre.' 'Stars on the Floor,' dubbed the ultimate "COLLABanan ng Stars sa Sayawan" brings together personalities from entertainment and the digital world to pair up for a dance-collab competition. The stars will take part in dance styles from hip-hop, contemporary, and ballroom to jazz, swing, disco, Latin, dancehall, and more, with the best choreographers in the Philippines to guide them. The Celebrity Dance Stars are Glaiza de Castro, Rodjun Cruz, Faith da Silva, Thea Astley, and VXON Patrick. Meanwhile, the Digital Dance Stars are Zeus Collins, Dasuri Choi, JM Yrreverre, Kakai Almeda, and Joshua Decena. Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, the Star Comedienne of the Dance Floor Pokwang, and the Dance Trend Master Coach Jay Joseph Roncesvalles, are the show's judges, or the Dance Authority. It is hosted by Alden Richards. 'Stars on the Floor" premieres June 28 at 7:15 p.m. on GMA Network. It is directed by Miggy Tanchanco, Paolo Valenciano, and Johnny Manahan. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
