Catch these 5 massive movies in Dubai this summer

If heading to the mall is on the top of your 'Ways to escape summer' plans, why not add in a movie to your shopping experience? Over the next few months, there are a number of top movies being released, giving you the perfect excuse to sit back, relax, and enjoy some entertainment in the cool AC. Here are 5 movies you don't want to miss this summer in Dubai F1 Release date: June 26 Formula 1 fans, time to take your place on the grid as F1 finally roars into theatres on June 26. The movie which took four years to produce, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick . It stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and even the current Formula 1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly. The movie follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a promising driver who had an accident that nearly ended his career. 30 years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces him to return to racing and become 'the best in the world.' Driving alongside the team's hotshot, Sonny learns the road to redemption is not an easy task, and not one to travel alone. Will Formula 1 fans give this movie the champagne celebration it deserves, or will it be a 'DNF'? We will have to wait and see. Keep your eyes peeled as some of the scenes were shot in our very own Abu Dhabi. PS. Our review of the movie will be out shortly after its release, so stay tuned. Get your tickets here. Jurassic World Rebirth Release date: July 3 For fans of the franchise…our terrifying, scaly friends are back on the big screen this July. Now in its seventh installment, the roaring action of Jurassic Park Rebirth takes place several years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion . We will join a team of scientists heading to a remote island on a mission to secure some genetic material that could possibly be a medical breakthrough that could save thousands of lives. If you thought the dinosaurs from past editions were scary, well… you'd be wrong. The ones on this island were deemed too dangerous for the original park, and we are about to meet them…and something a lot more disturbing. The movie stars Scarlett Johanson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend. Get your tickets here. Superman Release date: July 10 If you're out of touch with this iconic DC Comics character, thankfully you don't need to start from scratch, as director James Gunn has designed it to be a fresh starting point for new viewers. We bid a teary farewell to Henry Cavill and welcome David Corenswet who soared into action, taking over the blue and red suit. The plot, however (and as with most superhero movies), is hard to pinpoint. What we do know is Clark Kent is working as a reporter at the Daily Planet newspaper with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and he is trying to live a normal life, or at least a balanced one. But are things really that simple? He faces trouble when Lex Luthor – a smart and powerful enemy – comes in his way. While we're obviously used to seeing Superman dominate in the 'good versus evil' theme, this movie showcases a Superman that is driven by compassion with an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind. Get your tickets here. The Naked Gun Release date: July 15 Remember protagonist Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen)? How could you forget him? The bumbling police lieutenant – without a doubt – bought the giggles with his performance in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad as he somehow managed to save the day without even realising it. And now… 27 years later, we are being gifted a reboot. Meet Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson), the son of Frank Drebin. He too, is a bumbling cop. What can we say… like father, like son. Drebin Junior's quirky police department is in danger of being shut down unless he can crack a major case. He teams up with Beth (played by the one and only Pamela Anderson) to solve her brother's murder… but not without stumbling through it all. Expect the classic gags, nods to the original movie, and modern twists. It's pure, chaotic, old-school comedy. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey share friendly smooch at 'Jurassic World Rebirth' premiere

Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey were all smiles at the world premiere of " Jurassic World Rebirth" this week. The duo stepped out on the blue carpet Tuesday night in London and shared a friendly kiss. Their co-stars Mahershala Ali and Rupert Friend, as well as director Gareth Edwards, were also in attendance. Johansson channeled Old Hollywood glamour in a custom white gown by Vivienne Westwood, while Ali wore a custom look by Etro. Bailey wore Prada. The upcoming film, out next month, marks a new chapter in the "Jurassic World" trilogy. According to a press release from Universal Pictures, the new film follows an extraction team as they "race to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park, inhabited by the worst of the worst that were left behind." "Five years after the events of 'Jurassic World Dominion,' the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs," the press release continues. "Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived." It adds, "The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind." Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert assigned to lead a team on a "top-secret mission to secure the genetic material." In an interview with ET Online, Johansson called herself a "Jurassic Park nerd" and said she experienced what she described as several "pinch-me" moments on set. "I remember the first scene that we shot -- of course they throw us right into the most complicated set," Johansson said. "We shot on this very remote island in Thailand where we had to take a boat to another boat… and when I walked down, there was a mudslide and a six-hour monsoon and all this craziness." She continued, "By the time we got to the set, I walk down the little stairs, and we come out on this isolated beach, and it's that moment that you have where you're like, the John Williams music is going in your head. I'm looking across at the other cast members. We're all wearing our, you know, tactical suits and everything, and I was just like, 'This is really happening.'" "It was just… tears in my eyes," she added. "I couldn't believe it."

Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey On Why He Signed Jurassic World Rebirth: 'Bit Of A Nerd'

Last Updated: Jurassic World Rebirth: Jonathan Bailey revealed he was five years old when he first watched Jurassic Park, and even as a child, the film struck a deep chord with him. Jurassic World Rebirth: When Jonathan Bailey first appeared as the smitten Lord Anthony in the Bridgerton series, he had everyone's hearts in a chokehold. The actor then appeared as the feisty Fiyero in Ariana Grande's Wicked, further cementing his footing in today's zeitgeist. Now, Bailey is all set to star in the next instalment of the Jurassic Saga, Jurassic World: Rebirth. Bailey plays palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis in the film, and he exclusively opened up to us about his role and memories of the franchise. Bailey recalls his first memory of the beloved dinosaur franchise and tells News18 Showsha, 'I was five years old when my family took me to Jurassic Park, so a slightly questionable choice by my parents, given that it was PG-13." The actor mentions that the film struck a deep chord with him, even as a child. He explains, 'I remember it was kind of spiritual, not only because of the vision and the fantasy, but because it spoke to something about the modern world's relationship to the past and nature. The characters were so vivid and playful, the writing was so taut, and because it was Spielberg, it was a sumptuous escapist delight. The John Williams score! How do you rank the John Williams scores? I'm literally paid to say this now, but I do think it's number one." Bailey's film will now lead the Jurassic Saga fans into a new era of fantasy and grandeur. The actor will take the franchise forward from Sam Neill, who has previously played palaeontologist Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park series, as well as in Jurassic World Dominion. Interestingly, Bailey's Loomis has a special connection with Neill's Grant. Henry Loomis uses the same trowel in Jurassic World: Rebirth that Alan Grant used in Jurassic Park. Jonathan Bailey considers it an honour to represent the franchise's next-gen hero-palaeontologist. 'To carry forward the baton of Alan Grant is special," Bailey says and adds, 'And to play Henry, who embodies the love of nature and our best curiosities about it, was great fun. David Koepp's script was exciting and so fascinating in its ideas. It struck a chord in the part of me that's a bit of a nerd." About Jurassic Park: Rebirth Jurassic World: Rebirth will be released worldwide on July 4, 2025. Directed by Emmy Award-winning director Gareth Edwards, the film promises to immerse audiences in a thrilling new era. Leading the stellar cast is Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson, joined by Emmy Award nominee Jonathan Bailey and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. Following Jurassic World Dominion, the story shifts to an isolated equatorial region where surviving dinosaurs have found a familiar, thriving habitat. Now, the fate of humankind may rest on the three most immense among them, who hold the secret to a miraculous, life-altering drug. First Published: June 18, 2025, 14:47 IST
