‘Andhra Pradesh poised to be logistics gateway of South Asia': Minister BC Janardhan Reddy
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for R&B, Infrastructure and Investments BC Janardhan Reddy has said Andhra Pradesh is set to redefine its role as the logistics gateway of South Asia. Speaking at the CII Ports and Logistics Conference on 'Building Andhra Pradesh - The East Coast Logistics Capital of India' in Visakhapatnam on Friday, he said the government has laid emphasis on strengthening ports and road infrastructure recognising that robust logistics is the engine for industrial growth and regional prosperity. 'As India approaches its centennial year of Independence, Andhra Pradesh is guided by the Swarna Andhra @2047 Vision. Our goal is to become a high-growth, innovation-driven economy, targeting $2.4 trillion GSDP, and $42,000 per capita income by 2047. This vision ensures our growth is inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive,' Janardhan Reddy said.

CII meet stresses maritime development in Andhra Predesh
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Visakhapatnam organised a Ports and Logistics Conference on Friday, focusing on unlocking the State's port potential, improving last-mile connectivity, and promoting multimodal logistics integration. Participating in the programme, Minister for Roads & Buildings, Infrastructure & Investments B.C Janardhan Reddy said that Andhra Pradesh's ports contribute over 5% of the State's GSDP and support nearly one million jobs. Visakhapatnam Port alone handled 82.62 million tonnes in FY 2024–25, while Krishnapatnam Port and Gangavaram Port together handled over 54 million tonnes. He noted that the government was investing over ₹20,000 crore to improve connectivity through 1,040 km of new highways and major corridors such as Badvel-Nellore and the VCIC railway line. He spoke about the development of logistics parks, warehousing, and cold chains to modernise supply networks and reduce logistics costs from 15.7% to 7%–8%. He emphasised the strategic importance of the ₹26,000 crore Dugarajapatnam shipbuilding cluster in Nellore, which is expected to generate 35,000 jobs and attract large-scale manufacturing investments. Industrial corridors D. Satyanarayana, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board, said that six operational ports and three new greenfield ports at Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, and Bhavanapadu were being developed not in isolation, but as part of integrated logistics and industrial corridors, fully connected through road, rail, and multimodal networks. The State is also promoting multimodal logistics parks at Kakinada and Visakhapatnam, and connecting industrial zones in Krishna, Guntur, and Anantapur to coastal gateways. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, noted that most major ports in the State were currently operating at 50% capacity, indicating significant untapped potential. To fully realise this, he stressed the need to develop the entire maritime value chain, including skilling, logistics, shipbuilding, and allied industries, alongside core port infrastructure. G. Murali Krishna, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh, emphasised the urgent need to modernise coastal infrastructure, develop smart ports, and position Andhra Pradesh as a globally competitive and climate-resilient logistics hub. D.V.S. Narayana Raju, Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam, said Andhra Pradesh is now among the top three cargo handling States in India, with non-major ports handling over 117 MMTPA of EXIM cargo. G. Sambasiva Rao, Convenor, Ports & Logistics Panel, CII Andhra Pradesh, stressed that completing key corridors like the 12-lane Sheela Nagar-Anakapalli road would support faster cargo movement and time-sensitive exports.

Infra development priority for coalition govt, says minister
Vijayawada: Minister for investments, infrastructure, roads and buildings B C Janardhan Reddy said here on Wednesday that the coalition government is prioritising the development of infrastructure, including roads, railways, airports, ports, and fishing harbours, along with their connectivity across the state. He stated that in line with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's vision, systematic steps are being taken to ensure the state has at least 20 ports and fishing harbours combined, and specifically 14 airports, as part of a future-oriented action plan. In a statement outlining various ongoing development initiatives in the state, Janardhan Reddy confirmed that the state government has authorised the Andhra Pradesh Airport Development Corporation Limited to proceed with the tender process for selecting consultants. These consultants will prepare the Techno-Economic Feasibility Study Reports (TEFR) for the proposed greenfield airport projects in Nagarjuna Sagar and Ongole. He added that district collectors have already identified suitable sites for these two airports, and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has completed preliminary feasibility studies. Approval has already been given for the consultant selection tender process for TEFR preparation for the Amaravati and Kuppam airports. The state government has granted administrative approval for two development projects at Kurnool Airport for the 2025-26 fiscal year including Rs 3.6 crore for correcting the Runway End Safety Areas (RESA) and other maintenance works and Rs 4.433 crore for providing a taxiway to the Flying Training Organisation (FTO) at Kurnool Airport. Janardhan Reddy said that the government has reconstituted a 12-member Technical Evaluation Committee to review bids for the selection of consultants and developers for airport projects undertaken by the Airport Development Corporation Limited in the state. Approval has been granted for the payment of bills totalling Rs 70.82 crore to 29 organisations previously owed by AP State FiberNet Limited (APSFL). The minister announced that the 7th State-Level Sagarmala meeting will be held on July 4 with Central and state government officials. Chaired by him as the minister for investments and infrastructure, the meeting will discuss various aspects, including the supervision, development, progress of ongoing projects under the Sagarmala project, and proposals for new projects.

Complete road works taken up with NDB funding at earliest: Andhra Pradesh Minister BC Janardhan Reddy
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for Roads and Buildings, Investments and Infrastructure BC Janardhan Reddy has directed officials to complete the road development works taken up with the funding of New Development Bank (NDB) at the earliest. He asked the officials to set a realistic target for completion of the road works taken up with the support of NDB by the end of 2026 with proper planning. Holding a review meeting with representatives of NDB and R&B officials in Vijayawada on Thursday, the Minister said out of the Rs 637.76 crore worth works taken up with NDB aid, Rs 488.30 crore has been spent so far. Taking stock of the reasons for the delay of NDB road development works in some districts, the Roads and Buildings Minister instructed the officials to resolve the issues if any, and complete the works on a war footing.
