How Prince Harry's wild Las Vegas night with Ryan Lochte ended in scandal

When Prince Harry and Ryan Lochte descended on the Las Vegas strip - with bikini-clad models and gallons of alcohol - scandal was sure to follow. The star swimmer had taken a month out of the water after dominating the London Olympics with two gold medals. He headed straight for Sin City that August for a belated birthday party, after turning 28 during the Games. He once told Kelly Osborne: 'I went with my friends, I just wanted to relax and have some downtime.' But what he wasn't counting on was bumping into Prince Harry, who'd also fled to the Strip for a recharge after representing the Royal Family as an Olympic ambassador. The then 27-year-old had been showered in praise for his maturity during the huge event - but that quickly changed after his run-in with Lochte. So when the Prince went largely unnoticed by revelers at a party hosted by Jennifer Lopez the night before meeting Ryan, he would have been forgiven for thinking the old saying of 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas' really was true. As J-Lo walked the red carpet at the afternoon event, hours before playing a show, Harry threw a beachball around in a pool with friends without anyone looking twice at him, even in his baggy red Bermuda shorts. The following night, they were at the luxurious Wynn Hotel and had been drinking since waking up. At around 2am, the Prince spotted Lochte, either recognizing him from his London heroics or noticing all the women that had surrounded his table. 'I curled into the corner of a leather banquette and watched a procession of young women come and go,' Harry recalled of the night in his autobiography Spare, which didn't mention Lochte. Soon enough, the swimmer and his friends were interrupted, approached by a man none of them knew. 'Prince Harry is here,' he told Lochte. 'You want to meet him?' The following night, they were at the luxurious Wynn hotel and had been drinking since waking up. Ryan said: 'Let's go!' accepting immediately. For a man whose life revolved around being number one, he was left thrilled to be in demand from royalty. He would later tell the Daily Mail: 'It was a huge honor to meet him. He's a great guy.' But after a little bit of mingling, Harry stopped Lochte from leaving. 'I was like, "Alright, I'm going to head back to my table with my friends, it was nice meeting you," and he was like, "Wait,"' Lochte said. 'He was like, "You want to get in the pool and race me? Right now?"' Lochte couldn't say no. He had just beaten the great Michael Phelps to win gold in the 400-meter individual medley in London. Why not add Prince Harry to the list? With music blasting, Harry whipped his top off and jumped in before Lochte followed, joining the groups of guys and girls who had also taken the party into the early hours. The crowds split either side of the duo to form a faint 10-meter racetrack. A girl in a bikini waited at the end to mark the finish line. Ryan admitted: 'Watching him swim, he does have good form. I was surprised. But of course, I won.' Ryan also previously told the Daily Mail of the race: 'He was a great competitor but in the end it was Team USA all the way! 'I was surprised that he challenged me. I didn't know if he had any skills in the pool but I definitely wasn't going to take it easy on him.' Surrounded by admirers, the pair stayed in the water to soak up the attention - Harry never did find his shirt again. They left the venue at around 4:30am, splitting the party in two and taking it back to their respective hotel rooms. But after a long day of drinking, only one of them was smart enough to keep the following antics behind closed doors. While Ryan confiscated the phones of those who joined him back at his hotel, Prince Harry was covertly pictured in his VIP suite by a guest, playing strip pool, naked with a scantily-clad woman next to him. Harry wrote of that day in Spare: 'We ordered breakfast, Bloody Marys. It was pool-party season in Vegas, so a big blowout was raging. 'My mates invited four or five women who worked at the hotel to join us (at the end of the night), along with two women they'd met at the blackjack tables... They looked dodgy.' After playing pool with his bodyguards, Harry admits he 'suggested we up the stakes' with strip pool. He continued: 'I was the big loser, reduced to my skivvies. Then I lost my skivvies. It was harmless, silly, or so I thought. Until the next day. 'Standing outside the hotel in the blinding desert sun I turned and saw one of my mates staring at his phone, his mouth falling open. 'I was naked before the eyes of the world. I berated myself. How had I been so stupid? Why had I trusted other people? 'I'd counted on those dodgy girls to show some basic decency and now I was going to pay the price forever. Those photos would never go away. 'My sense of guilt and shame made it hard at moments to draw a clean breath.' Ryan told Inside Edition: 'It could happen to anyone. I just tried my best to make sure that no cameras came in (to my party).' It sparked major humiliation for Harry and the Royal Family, just weeks after starring at the Olympics alongside his brother, William, and sister-in-law Kate. The late Robin Leach, a veteran entertainment columnist for the Las Vegas Sun, wrote at the time: 'That's why people come to Vegas. To let their hair down and behave badly.' Ryan said he didn't get an invite from the Prince to his suite: 'He never said anything like that. After our race, we went our separate ways.' A year later, the athlete would describe his encounter with Harry as 'a one-time thing.' It is thought that the pair haven't met again. Weeks after the shock pictures of Harry emerged, he was back serving with the army in Afghanistan as part of a 20-week deployment that ended in 2013. Certainly for Harry in the following years, the optics of being pictured with Ryan would have served as a reminder of a night where he ended up tarnishing his family's reputation. The swimmer eventually got back in the pool - he joked in one interview that racing Harry reignited a competitive streak inside of him - and headed to the Rio Olympics in 2016, where he was embroiled in his own needless controversy. Ryan, along with fellow USA swimmers Gunnar Bents, Jack Conger, and Jimmy Feigen, fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint by thugs posing as cops in Rio. The story unraveled spectacularly in front of a global audience. The scandal did major damage to Ryan's credibility and he lost sponsorship deals with Speedo and Ralph Lauren. He was also charged in Brazil with falsely reporting a crime but a judge threw the case out in July 2017. Whether he broke a law or not, for Harry it would have been another stark reason not to rekindle the friendship.

left fans open-mouthed wearing a very daring look during her performance at WorldPride DC. The singer, 55, performed for the crowd in a number of sizzling looks as she belted out her hits - but one sexy armor-inspired ensemble, designed by New York-based brand The Blonds, was hard to ignore. At one point the star looked as though she was at risk of a serious wardrobe malfunction as she danced wearing the skimpy thong number. J-Lo, who turns turns 56 on July 24, completed her sexy look with shimmering over-the-knee boots. She jumped to her Instagram page to showcase the numerous outfits from the night - and thanked the designers as well as her stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. 'Major shout-out to @theblondsny for slaying my sparkly WorldPride stage looks - and to @fashionbyreyortiz for that fierce black catsuit moment. 'You all didn't just understand the assignment, you rewrote it. Queens of the stage, crowned and confirmed!' In between belting out songs for the crowd, J-Lo took time to give a special message to her queer fans, per Out Magazine. 'Over the years, your love and your support have been a source of strength for me and today I am here to celebrate you. 'I'm so happy to be able to be here to celebrate community, diversity, love, and freedom. 'We all have the right to be who we want to be, the way we want to live, to be the people that we want to be. 'We have the right to be free. God gave us that right and nobody can take it away.' During her performance, J-Lo also sang the song Kiss Of The Spider Woman - which is from her upcoming movie of the same name. She gushed about the film - which was produced by her ex Ben Affleck and his close pal Matt Damon - calling it 'beautiful.' The star described the premise as being 'about love and acceptance, impossible circumstances about seeing humanity in one another' and also 'falling in love, not for who we are on the outside, but for who we are on the inside.'

A visit to Astana, Kazakhstan's futuristic city

The city of Astana is a magnificent sight, especially at night. Note the 105m Baiterek Tower that resembles a bird's nest. (Kazakhstan Embassy in Malaysia pic) PETALING JAYA : At first glance, Astana – with its polished steel, bold lines and endless symmetry – feels like a city too new to have a soul. But spend a few hours on foot, take in the angles, enjoy the cool spring winds and the warmth behind the cold exterior, and something begins to shift. Kazakhstan's capital grows on you in ways you don't expect. It's clean, efficient, and full of contradictions, with the older generation speaking in broken Russian and Kazakh, while the youths converse in almost fluent English. The city has a population of 1.5 million and holds over 500 international events (fun fact: is slated to perform there in August!). Its Opera House, for instance, showcases some of the best talents with a fusion of nomadic, Russian and European culture. Here are some of the highlights of the city, which officially became this post-Soviet nation's capital in the late 1990s. Baiterek Tower Every capital has its monuments. Astana has Baiterek, which is a 105m tower resembling a bird's nest. Locals say it represents a mythical bird that laid an egg in the tree of life. The elegant Ak Orda Presidential Palace is located at one end, while the tent-shaped Khan Shatyr shopping mall sits at the other. The Astana Grand Mosque has four 130m-tall minarets, each made of five parts to symbolise the five pillars of Islam. (Kazakhstan Embassy pic) Astana Grand Mosque With Islam being the predominant religion practised in Kazakhstan, the Hazrat Sultan Mosque was built in 2022. This 68,062-sq-m house of worship, with its marble and turquoise domes standing majestic against the skyline, is able to accommodate close to 250,000 people at one time. This makes it the largest mosque in Central Asia and among the 10 biggest in the world. National Museum From the Stone Age to the Silk Road era, the biggest museum in Central Asia is home to many historical artefacts as well as contemporary art pieces. Check out warrior and nomadic costumes, rock carvings, Soviet memorabilia, and much more. It also has a separate hall for temporary exhibitions. The Ramstore Bridge bisects the 2,450km-long Ishim River, which divides the city into older and newer halves. (Kazakhstan Embassy pic) River and ferry rides A walk along the Ishim River will likely make you fall for Astana. There are wide walkways lined with weeping willows and bridges. Locals speak in Kazakh, Russian and English, while kids zip past on scooters. Lines of cafés serve crisp beer, coffee, and delicious horse meat. With the distant smell of barbecue in the air, couples lean on railings, enjoying the cool spring breeze. Like Paris, the city is divided by the river into the left and right banks. On the right bank is an older part of the city, featuring mainly Soviet-style architecture. The left bank holds the newer, more futuristic part of town, full of glittering high-rises. As the sun sets, the modernity of the city becomes even more evident. (Kazakhstan Embassy pic) Cuisine Often paired with salads, cheese and flatbreads are staples. Halal horsemeat dishes are also frequently on the menu. Desserts are mostly dairy-based. Baursak, deep-fried dough balls that resemble airy doughnuts, are dipped in jam or honey. For something creamier, try kurt, a salty fermented cheese ball. Wash it all down with shubat, a fermented camel-milk drink that's considered a delicacy and tonic to aid digestion. Incidentally, beer lovers are in for a treat: a generous-size can of local beer costs just US$1-2! The tenge, Kazakhstan's currency, trades at roughly 500 tenge to US$1 (about RM4.25). Sink your teeth into baursak, deep-fried dough balls that are dipped in jam or honey. (Kazakhstan Embassy pic) When should you visit? The best time to head over is during spring (April-June) or early autumn (September-October), when the air is crisp and the city comes alive with outdoor festivals, long sunsets, and breezy riverside strolls. How do you get there? AirAsia flies directly from Kuala Lumpur to Almaty, from where you can board a domestic 1.5-hour flight to Astana. Kazakhstan is open to the world with visa-free entry for many countries, including Malaysia. With growing foreign investment and a strong push towards global integration through tech, trade, and tourism, the country is primed to position itself as a bridge between Europe and Asia.

Jennifer Lopez's raciest outfits revealed after star donned THAT bodysuit ahead of 56th birthday

Jennifer Lopez broke the internet this week when she performed in a jaw-dropping bodysuit. The flimsy leotard left little to the imagination thanks to a dangerously high-cut thong. While the skimpy ensemble had fans' jaws dropping, it's certainly not the first racy look that JLo has rocked. The 55-year-old has been baring her famous curves on stage and on the red carpet for years. One of her most iconic outfits is her green Versace jungle dress. The plunging green and turquoise silk chiffon dress that the performer wore to the 42nd annual Grammy Awards in 2000 has long been considered a piece of fashion history. She later donned the iconic garment once again in 2019 at Milan Fashion Week. The stunner later went underwear-free in two revealing cutaway dresses at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2017. Before the show, Lopez put her stunning figure on display in a long black dress that featured a plunging neckline and cut-out panels along her ribs and hips for the first number of the night. She revealed even more leg with a thigh-high slit as she arrived at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida for the actual ceremony. The diva is also fond of baring her derriere on stage during her electrifying performances. Lopez put on a leggy display in a bodysuit during a stop of her It's My Party tour in 2019. The outfit only covered one of her legs, leaving the other completely bare. For a performance at her 2016 Las Vegas residency, she wore a diamond G-string bodysuit that showcased her famous curves. It comes after Lopez shocked fans with her daring look as she hit the stage for WorldPride D.C. The songstress performed for the crowd in a number of eye-catching looks, including a bodysuit that exposed her pubic area. One ensemble in particular was created by New York-based brand The Blonds and additionally contained a deep plunging neckline on the front that showcased her cleavage. The skimpy bodysuit was made of a shiny silver material and contained sparkling embellishments that dazzled underneath the bright stage lights. Lopez - who was recently branded 'desperate' by fans over her lesbian kiss at the AMAs - completed the outfit by slipping into a pair of shimmering, over-the-knee boots and allowed her long locks to cascade down past her shoulders in light waves. The stunner went underwear-free in two revealing cutaway dresses at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2017 The hitmaker left little to the imagination in a sheer gown in 2015 Lopez put on a leggy display while stepping out for an event in 2023 The Jenny From The Block singer turns 56-years-old on July 24. The star sported other head-turning outfits during her performance over the weekend - which were also designed by The Blonds. One was a bikini top with fiery flame details as well as matching bottoms that flaunted Lopez's toned figure. She also wore a black catsuit that left little to the imagination and was designed by Rey Ortiz. In between belting out songs for the crowd, Jennifer took time to give a special message to her queer fans, per Out Magazine. 'Over the years, your love and your support have been a source of strength for me and today I am here to celebrate you,' the singer expressed. The diva is also fond of baring her derriere on stage during her electrifying performances 'I'm so happy to be able to be here to celebrate community, diversity, love, and freedom.' She also added, 'We all have the right to be who we want to be, the way we want to live, to be the people that we want to be. We have the right to be free. God gave us that right and nobody can take it away.' Earlier this week, the trailer for the musical film Kiss Of The Spider Woman officially dropped - with Lopez looking unrecognizable in her role. The mom-of-two took portrayed the character of Ingrid Luna/Aurora/The Spider Woman in the project, which was directed by Bill Condon. Throughout the trailer, Jennifer could be seen showing off her vocal skills while also sporting platinum blonde locks. The film is an adaptation of the 1976 novel of the same name written by Manuel Puig - and also stars Diego Luna and Tonatiuh.

Why fans think Mariah Carey isn't singing on her comeback track... amid claims she's been replaced with AI

Mariah Carey has been caught up in another wild conspiracy theory just weeks after fans believed that she'd been replaced by AI. The diva, 56, returned to the music scene with a new rap single this week called Type Dangerous, but a lot of fans have pointed out that Mimi sounds different compared to before. 'Is it just me or it doesn't sound like Mariah at all,' asked one confused listener. 'Is it just me or does Mariah's new song sound like a JLo song? Also… she sounds nothing like herself, the overproduction is weird. Doesn't sound like her even a little,' wrote another. A third wrote, 'Now who is singing bc that doesn't sound like Mariah.' Another added, 'What's strange about this new Mariah song is I saw her live a year and a half ago and she can very much still sing live. Why on earth did they add whatever this is on top of her voice? It doesn't even sound like her.' However, other fans argued that the talented vocalist was just using a different style of singing. 'Just listened to Mariah Carey's new song. She used her voice in a different way than we're used to, but the song is nice! I like it,' wrote one. Another explained, 'She's just using her lower voice and experimenting. She's always doing something new and original.' It comes after Mariah left some of her Australian fans confused after appearing disinterested as she sat down for an interview with The Project. The pop diva gave a series of short answers, sometimes uttering single word reposes in a bored monotone while speaking with host Georgie Tunny. When asked how she handles criticism, Mariah replied simply: 'By not coping is what I do.' After a pause she continued: 'I mean, just don't pay attention to it, you know? And everybody else goes through it, so... whatever.' The 56-year-old was also asked what she'd like on her tour rider for her upcoming Aussie tour, to which Mariah oddly replied in deadpan: 'A kangaroo.' Mariah was likewise asked about her notorious love of good lighting, to which she said dismissively: 'Good lighting is everything. I don't know why people even have rooms that are poorly lit.' The interview plodded along at painful length, with some viewers branding it 'bizarre' and some even asking if the clip was AI. 'Was that an AI version of MC? That poor lady. I feel sorry for you. You did your best. She hasn't been called a DIVA for no reason... Maybe in the shadow sooner then she likes' wrote one person. 'Sure she wasn't an AI version of Carey? Weird smile, no eye contact. Bot for sure' someone else asked. 'That was the most bizarre interview!!' yet another chimed in. Despite the controversy, Mariah is currently preparing to release her 16th studio album. According to Forbes, the songstress, who has 19 number one singles, is aiming to get her 20th chart topper with Type Dangerous. 'She's fighting to stay contemporary,' her longtime producer LA Reid told the publication. Mariah left her label Epic Records, who released her last album Caution, to partner with new music company Gamma for her comeback.
