Saiyami Kher Reveals Hardcore Ironman 70.3 Prep: 'Nothing Comes Easy'

Last Updated: Saiyami Kher is training for her second Ironman 70.3 with daily 10km runs, 40km cycling, and 1.5km swims — all while juggling a film career. Saiyami Kher is not just conquering roles on screen—she's also pushing her physical boundaries in the real world. The actress and athlete is currently in the thick of training for her second Ironman 70.3 triathlon, and her regimen reflects a grit and determination that rivals professional athletes. A known fitness enthusiast, Saiyami has always straddled the line between cinema and sport. But her current training schedule for the triathlon is next-level. She recently offered fans a peek into her daily routine—an impressive 10-kilometre treadmill run clocked in at just over 70 minutes, followed by a 40-kilometre cycling session around Mumbai averaging 25.6 km/h, and a pool swim of 1.5 kilometres completed in under 38 minutes. Each workout is a testament to her discipline, and yet, Saiyami remains modest about her progress. 'Olympic size distance felt great but feeling far from ready for the 70.3," she shared, acknowledging the steep climb that still lies ahead—both literally and figuratively. The triathlon's route was changed after she registered, transforming it into a more difficult, hilly terrain. But Saiyami isn't backing down. If anything, it has only fuelled her to train harder. 'Being an actor comes with its own physical and emotional demands," she said. 'Training for something like the Ironman 70.3 while shooting or traveling is extremely challenging. But I've never liked doing things halfway. This race is a test of not just the body but the mind too. I know I have a long way to go… This race is way tougher than what I did last year. Which is why I need to put in even more effort. Juggling work and training gets tough. But nothing comes easy :)" Saiyami Kher made her acting debut with the Telugu film Rey in 2015 and her Hindi debut with Mirzya in 2016). She has since appeared in Mauli (2018), Choked (2020), Wild Dog (2021) and Ghoomer (2023). She has also starred in the streaming series Special OPS (2020) and Faadu (2022). Mass. school employee stole food, supplies for his Cape Cod snack shack, authorities say

A Plymouth County public schools employee faces larceny charges after officials say he stole food and cafeteria equipment for several years for resale at his snack shack on Cape Cod. Patrick VanCott, 62, of Sandwich pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Plymouth District Court on Friday. His charges include larceny over $1,200 by a single scheme, larceny from a building and larceny under $1,200 by a single scheme. He was ordered held on a $50,000 cash bail and to stay away from all Plymouth school campuses and school storage facilities. He's been placed on administrative leave, according to officials. A superior court judge lowered his cash bail to $10,000 after his attorney petitioned for a bail review on Friday, court records show. He posted the bail and was ordered to wear a GPS monitor upon his release. 'People should be reminded that folks are innocent until proven guilty and we are going to vigorously defend this case,' Nate Amendola, an attorney for VanCott, said on Sunday. Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz's Office said public school officials contacted the police after they received an anonymous letter 'alleging criminal activity' at the Plymouth Community Intermediate School. 'The letter alleged that a person has been stealing commercial equipment and food products from the school,' officials said. The property is owned by the town and paid for with federal dollars, officials said. VanCott, the director of food services for Plymouth public schools, was identified as the suspect after a police investigation. He is the only person with the authority to place orders for the cafeteria, officials said. VanCott also runs a snack shack at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable, officials said. His orders consisted of premium Angus hamburgers, hot dogs, lobster meat, and other food products that were not served to students or school staff, officials said. Surveillance footage shows VanCott taking two commercial refrigerators from the school and onto his truck in April, officials said. Police reviewed cafeteria financial documents and compiled a list of items purchased by VanCott but not currently in the public schools' storage facility that totaled over $8,300 in goods, including: Refrigerated sandwich table: $1,700 2 frying pans: $96 Convection oven: $850 Undercounter freezer: $1,700 Microwave: $299 Bagel warmer: $294 Cuisinart coffee maker: $84 In June, police executed a search warrant at the snack shack and found an industrial-sized refrigerator and other kitchen equipment and 'government-issued' food. VanCott was taken into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21. Oscar Pistorius' return to sport, a disrespect to Reeva Steenkamp's legacy

Convicted killer Oscar Pistorious was in Durban last Sunday participating in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon. Image: Leon Lestrade / Independent Media Oscar Pistorius' father Henke, has declined to comment on his son's participation in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon challenge in Durban last weekend. Pistorius, who is out on parole for the Valentines Day murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, participated in the event that took place at Ushaka beach on Sunday, raising the ire of the United Democratic Movement Women's Organisation (UDEMWO). UDEMWO condemned convicted murderer Pistorius' participation in the Ironman sporting event, labelling it a blatant insult to the memory of his deceased girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Henk's only response when contacted was that his son was capable of speaking for himself. Sunday was Pistorius' first public appearance in sports since being granted parole in January 2024, following the murder of Steenkamp 12 years ago. Reeva Steenkamp's mother June Steenkamp says she wants to live the rest of her life in peace and continue with her daughter's legacy. Image: File Video Player is loading. His return to the public sporting domain has triggered vehement reactions. Thandi Nontenja, MP and UDEMWO secretary general, said the organisation was appalled to learn that Pistorius participated in the triathlon. According to media reports, his attorney Conrad Dormehl confirmed the athlete's involvement as 'part of his rehabilitation', and Pistorius' parole officer allegedly approved his travel from Pretoria to Durban, she said. Nontenja stated that this was unacceptable, and the fact that Pistorius was granted parole in the first place was a travesty of justice. 'His public return to sport as though nothing happened is a deep insult to the memory of Reeva Steenkamp and a painful reminder to her loved ones that her life was violently cut short. She will never again celebrate a birthday or milestone, while the man who ended her life enjoys the privilege of sport and public presence. 'This situation leaves a bitter taste for women in South Africa,' said Nontenja. 'In a country overwhelmed by gender-based violence and femicide, how can a convicted murderer be allowed to resume normal life so easily? How is it possible that a man who committed such a horrific crime against a woman is now participating in events alongside law-abiding citizens?' she asked. According to Nontenja, this was a glaring indictment of South Africa's justice system. She said the fact that Pistorius was free and engaging in leisure activities wass a 'slap in the face' to the Steenkamp family and to every survivor of gender-based violence. 'It shows just how poorly the country is doing in enforcing laws that are meant to protect women. Our parole system is failing the very people it is supposed to safeguard,' she said. UDEMWO demanded that Pistorius not be allowed to live as though he were a free man while on parole. 'Public sporting events are for citizens who have not committed unspeakable crimes. We also demand a thorough investigation into the conduct of his parole officer,' said Nontenja. She added that the organisation was equally concerned about the failure of the National Prosecuting Authority under the leadership of Advocate Shamila Batohi to prioritise and effectively prosecute gender-based violence cases. She said UDEMWO remained committed to fighting for justice for all victims of gender-based violence. 'We will not be silent in the face of a justice system that continues to fail women in South Africa,' stated Nontenja. Speaking after Pistorius was granted parole, Reeva's mother, June Steenkamp, said there could never be justice if your loved one was never coming back. 'No amount of time served will bring Reeva back… We, who remain behind, are the ones serving a life sentence.' Asked what her reaction is to Pistorius returning to sport, June's lawyer, Tania Koen, said June's focus was on the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation and continuing Reeva's legacy. 'What Oscar does is of no significance to her.'
