5-star Immanuel Iheanacho takes on Dan Lanning in push-up contest during Oregon visit

We've seen Dan Lanning rip his shirt off and jump into a pool with a recruit before, and now we've seen him take on a monster of a prospect in a push-up contest as well. On Saturday morning, 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho posted a video to his X account of him and Lanning going head-to-head in a push-up contest, seeing who could get to 25 reps the fastest. In the video, and again in his caption, Iheanacho declares himself the winner, though to Lanning's credit, it was a very close call. Advertisement This is a huge visit for the Oregon Ducks, with Iheanacho arguably the No. 1 player on their recruiting board as the No. 2 OT in the 2026 class, and the No. 8 player in the nation. Standing at 6-foot-6, 345 pounds, Iheanacho projects to be a massive difference-maker at the next level, and the Ducks are doing everything they can to try and get him on board. This isn't the first time that Lanning has participated in a recruit's video, with the first one coming early in May when Oregon's coach did a cannonball alongside 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley to announce his commitment. Wesley later decommitted a couple of weeks later, but it was a good chance to show that Lanning is willing to do what it takes to land a recruit and participate in their fun announcements. There's a feeling that the Ducks aren't going to need to do too much to get Iheanacho on board. The 5-star has been predicted to commit to Oregon for a couple of months now, and while he has an announcement date of August 5, there is speculation that his commitment could come as soon as this weekend while on his official visit in Eugene. Oregon football offers brother of 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho

The Oregon Ducks are hosting 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho on an essential official visit this weekend, hoping to get him on board and in the 2026 recruiting class before he leaves town at the end of the weekend. It appears that they are going the extra mile to do so, as well. On Sunday morning, it came out that the Ducks extended an offer to Michael Iheanacho, the younger brother of Immanuel. Michael is a member of the 2028 class, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound offensive tackle who is currently unrated by 247Sports. Advertisement Meanwhile, Immanuel stands as one of the most significant players on Oregon's recruiting board in the 2026 class, rated as the No. 8 overall player in the class while standing at 6-foot-6, 345 pounds. He is considering Oregon alongside the Penn State Nittany Lions, LSU Tigers, and Auburn Tigers. Iheanacho has set a commitment date for August 5, but there is some speculation that he could end up announcing his commitment as soon as Sunday before his visit is over. If offering his younger brother — someone who could ultimately be a highly-touted recruit in the 2028 class — is something that will help push that decision along, then the Ducks made the right call in doing so. Dan Lanning Turns Heads With Another 5-Star Recruiting Video

Dan Lanning Turns Heads With Another 5-Star Recruiting Video originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is not opposed to going out of his way to participate in fun activities with recruits and make sure they're happy. We saw this earlier in the spring when the young coach ripped off his shirt and did a cannonball alongside 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley to announce his commitment, and now we're seeing it again with 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho. Advertisement While it wasn't a commitment announcement, Lanning is turning heads this weekend for his participation in a push-up contest with the 6-foot-6, 345-pounder. The two raced to see who could get to 25 push-ups first, and while Iheanacho apparently won, it was definitely close. Hopefully, this video will have a better long-term result for Lanning than the pool jump with Wesley did. Just 17 days after the commitment, Wesley decommitted from the Ducks and opened up his recruiting process once again, which led to Lanning getting some backlash among college football fans for his recruiting antics. Most notably, the USC Trojans poked fun at Lanning, posting Will Ferrell's cannonball scene from Anchorman to announce one of their commitments. Fortunately, it doesn't seem as if the Ducks are going to have to go the extra mile with Iheanacho to get his commitment. The 5-star, who is rated as the No. 8 player in the 2026 class, has said for a couple of months now that Oregon is leading his recruitment, and there are multiple predictions for him to commit to the Ducks. Advertisement Whether or not that commitment gets announced with Lanning partaking in the video is yet to be seen, but at this point, we know the Oregon coach will do what he needs to do to land the recruit. Rival Big Ten school makes move for Oregon Ducks 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho

Rival Big Ten school makes move for Oregon Ducks 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho The Oregon Ducks are looking to go on a hot streak in the recruiting world this summer, with several high-profile recruits set to come off of the board before the football season begins. One of those recruits is 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, the No. 8 player in the 2026 class. The Ducks have been among the top schools, if not the leader for Iheanacho for quite a while, but this past weekend, a rival Big Ten team hosted the 6-foot-6, 345-pounder on an official visit; it reportedly made a pretty good impression. The Penn State Nittany Lions moved up Iheanacho's board this weekend, according to On3. Iheanacho also said on his social media that he plans to return to Happy Valley this year and check out the campus for the whiteout game, which has been announced for September 27 when the Ducks come to town. While the Nittany Lions may have done well to move up the 5-star's board this weekend, the Ducks have an opportunity next week to get their shot, with Iheanacho taking his final official visit of the year to Eugene. Oregon's coaching still will have a chance to get the final word in, and set the plan for the 5-star OT in stone ahead of his schedule commitment on August 5.
