Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally clinched their maiden IPL title in 2025, with Virat Kohli top-scoring in the final. However, post-match attention shifted to mentor Dinesh Karthik after ex-England captains Atherton and Hussain hilariously roasted him on a podcast. They teased Karthik for giving Kohli a 'five-minute lecture' before his dismissal. Though caught off guard, Karthik laughed it off. Despite the fun, his role in RCB's success remains widely appreciated. and subscribe to our channel and never miss a to CricketNext YouTube channel to never miss a video: CricketNext on Facebook: CricketNext on Twitter: CricketNext on Instagram: : Kohli , Dinesh Karthik , IPL 2025 Final , RCB vs PBKS , Royal Challengers Bengaluru , Punjab Kings , Michael Atherton , Nasser Hussain , Sky Sports Podcast , Kohli Karthik Moment , IPL Final Drama , Kohli Dismissal , RCB Coach , RCB Champion , IPL Funny Moments , Cricket Banter , Cricket Podcast , Dinesh Karthik Coaching , Kohli RCB , IPL Trophy , IPL Memes , Cricket Humor , Kohli Out After Timeout , Kohli DK , IPL Final Highlight , RCB First Trophy , IPL Strategic Timeout , Indian Premier League , IPL Viral Clip , Cricket Fans , IPL News , RCB IPL 2025 Win

WTC Final 2025: Josh Hazlewood's flawless finals streak ends in heartbreak as Australia fall to South Africa

Australia's Josh Hazlewood, left, reacts after bowling a delivery. (AP Photo) Josh Hazlewood 's incredible record in cricket finals finally met its end at Lord's on Saturday, as South Africa stunned Australia to win the 2025 ICC World Test Championship. The victory handed South Africa their first-ever WTC title and ended Australia's reign as champions — and with it, Hazlewood's perfect finals streak. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The composed Australian pacer, known for delivering in high-pressure games, had won nine out of nine major finals in his career heading into the clash. From the 2010 U19 World Cup to the 2025 IPL Final, Hazlewood had consistently been part of title-winning sides. But in his tenth, the Proteas proved too strong. Poll What do you think about Josh Hazlewood's performance in the 2025 WTC Final? Below expectations Decent but not enough Solid performance overall Outstanding as always Hazlewood had a modest performance with the ball, finishing with figures of 1/27 and 1/58 across the two innings. However, he had a brief moment of impact with the bat. On Day 3, Hazlewood combined with Mitchell Starc for a 59-run stand — the joint-highest 10th-wicket partnership in an ICC knockout match — helping Australia set a challenging 282-run target. Still, it wasn't enough. South Africa chased down the target clinically to clinch the WTC mace, breaking their ICC title drought and spoiling Hazlewood's decade-long record in the process. The 34-year-old's glittering finals résumé includes being Player of the Match in the 2010 U19 World Cup final, vital spells in the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup triumphs, and a key role in Australia's T20 and WTC titles. Most recently, he helped RCB to their maiden IPL title in 2025. But at Lord's, the winning streak ended. For the first time in his career, Josh Hazlewood left a championship final without the trophy — a rare blemish on an otherwise legendary finals ledger. Hazlewood pushes selection case for World Test Championship Final

London, June 7 (UNI) Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood made a seamless transition from the IPL to the red-ball as he pushed his case for selection in the ICC World Test Championship Final on Saturday with a strong hitout during his first training session since arriving in England. Hazlewood won the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this week and only arrived in London on Wednesday night ahead of the Ultimate Test against the Proteas at Lord's that commences on June 11. The right-armer looked in good touch in Beckenham on Saturday at an optional training session for the Aussies, with head coach Andrew McDonald and selector Tony Dodemaide keeping a close eye on proceedings as Hazlewood battles with fellow seamer Scott Boland for a spot in the playing XI. Hazlewood unsurprisingly hit his usual line and length quickly when bowling to Australian teammate Marnus Labuschagne and the 34-year-old said he would increase his pace over the coming days in the lead-up to the clash with South Africa in north London, an ICC report said. "Today is sort of, post-flight and just to get moving," Hazlewood said prior to training. "I will probably nail down a few more overs tomorrow and then over the next few days, tick a lot of boxes," he said. "I ticked over some good overs just before the IPL Final in Ahmedabad in different weather than this and it was quite a tough session," Hazlewood said. "And then obviously, every time you play a game in the IPL, you're probably going to get almost seven or eight overs in, if you really want to. So in and around with warm-ups and obviously the four overs in the game. And we bowled second a lot of the time in IPL, so that was sort of two warm-ups, so you can squeeze in overs here and there and things are going pretty well," he said. Hazlewood hasn't played a red-ball contest since he featured in the third Test against India in December, with Scott Boland edging his way into Australia's line-up for the remainder of that series and impressing with a 10-wicket match haul in the series finale in Sydney. The pair are seemingly battling it out for one place in Australia's XI to face South Africa, with skipper Pat Cummins and left-armer Mitchell Starc certain to feature in the one-off contest with first-choice spinner Nathan Lyon. "Everyone looks in good shape," Hazlewood said of his fellow bowlers. "We've all been in different parts of the world playing or training over the last couple of months, so it's good to get everyone together and catch up with everyone yesterday and the day before and get all on the same page moving forward," he said. Hazlewood took five wickets in his most recent match at Lord's during the 2023 Ashes series against England and the experienced quick believes the conditions at the iconic venue will suit his bowling style. "Any time I bowl in England I'm reasonably confident," Hazlewood stated. "I've had some good tours here over the last 10 years and Lord's in particular," he said. "I haven't lost before at Lord's yet as a player, certainly in red-ball cricket for sure and we have had a couple of good wins there over the years," Hazlewood added. UNI BM

Lodged by Police Inspector Girish A.K., the FIR has been registered under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by using dangerous weapons or means), 118(2) read with Section 3(5) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt, when the act is done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 190 (unlawful assembly), 132 (criminal force to deter a public servant), 125(a) (filing false affidavit), and 125(b) (rash and negligent acts that endanger human life). Footwear strewn near one of the gates to Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. 'This incident occurred because appropriate arrangements were not made for the fans to enter the stadium. The announcement by the RCB on their official website that free passes would be distributed at the gates for the public is the reason for the gathering of lakhs of people. It was difficult to avert the incident. The police had deputed sufficient officers and cops, initiated all required security measures, and thereby averted a much larger tragedy,' the FIR stated. The FIR clarified that the officers of the Cubbon Park Sub-Division were deputed to duty until 5.30 am on June 4 (the morning after RCB's title win). The FIR states: 'At 6 p.m. on June 3, Shubendu Ghosh, the Chief Executive Officer of the KSCA, submitted a memorandum to the Police Inspector seeking arrangements for security measures for the victory celebrations at the stadium on June 4. The inspector told him clearly that if RCB wins, the fans will celebrate all night, and security arrangements will have to be made for that. If the KSCA organises another programme the next day, there will be disruption. ' The FIR further stated that RCB, KSCA, and DNA managements, by not providing correct information on passes and free entry to people and fans, created confusion among lakhs of fans that reached the stadium, resulting in pushing and chaos. Following this, a stampede occurred at gate numbers 2, 2A, 6, 7, 15, 17, 18, and 21. Child faints outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium as a massive crowd gathers to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2025 victory 'The Police Inspector told him that time was needed to arrange security measures, and permission was therefore denied for victory celebrations. Despite the denial of permission, RCB, DNA, and KSCA exerted pressure for the victory celebrations event to be held on June 4. "Afterwards, senior officers prepared security measures and sought permission from the Bengaluru Police Commissioner. Police personnel were immediately brought in from all police stations of Bengaluru city, and security was also arranged at the Vidhana Soudha programme to felicitate players,' the FIR mentions. To manage the crowd, additional staff was brought in from the Police Training Centre and Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP). Traffic police were deputed to manage vehicle movements, and a traffic advisory was issued. Security was arranged at the HAL airport where the RCB players arrived, at the star hotel where they checked in, and separate pilot escorts were arranged for the RCB players, says the FIR. Karnataka HC seeks report from govt. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addresses a press conference, in Bengaluru. (PTI) The Karnataka High Court sought a report from the state government on the lapses and other details concerning the stampede incident near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Taking cognisance of the stampede incident, the high court registered a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and sought a report from the state government. A division bench, headed by acting Chief Justice V. Kameshwar Rao, expressing concern over the tragedy, questioned the government on whether the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were followed and if adequate guidelines were framed to handle the situation at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the victory celebrations. Arrests made, top cop suspended Nikhil Sosale Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the suspension of five senior police officers, including the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and DCP (Central Division) in connection with the to stampede. The order underlined that: 'The CEO of RCB had intimated Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City on June 3 about holding the victory parade and celebrations on June 4. However, the office of Police Commissioner failed to give written reply to the organisers, rejecting permission on the grounds of lack of time to prepare for such a huge event.' On Friday (June 6), the Karnataka Police arrested RCB Marketing Head Nikhil Sosale and DNA Event Management Company staffers - Sunil Matthew, Kiran, and Sumanth - at the airport. As per news reports, hunt is on for Rajesh Menon, Head and Vice President of RCB; K.T. Yash Dayal Interview: 'Whatever is done for Virat (Kohli) bhaiya is very less'

AHMEDABAD, INDIA - JUNE 03: Yash Dayal of Royal Challengers Bengaluru appeals unsuccessfully during the 2025 IPL Final match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium on June 03, 2025, in Ahmedabad, India. (Photo by) NEW DELHI: On a glittering Tuesday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, it was not only Virat Kohli who ended his 18-year wait to win the IPL trophy, but the win was also pretty special for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's left-arm seamer Yash Dayal. In Ahmedabad, Dayal's name had been associated with a bowler who hid his face with a towel after conceding five sixes and failing to defend 28 runs in an IPL match. He was ridiculed after being hit for five sixes in the final over by Rinku Singh. His family had been wary of tuning in to IPL's high-pressure matches involving their son, but with RCB winning the IPL title at the same venue, the 27-year-old pacer had buried the ghost of that "nightmarish" IPL night. I want to play in the IPL and I want to play for India, and that is the kind of redemption I seek. But I would say in cricket, it can happen to anyone at a certain level as a bowler," he told in an exclusive interview. Yash Dayal revealed that while most of his teammates shed tears, he struggled to cry after the final. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트 최대 할인 지원해드려요 임플란터 더 알아보기 Undo "To be very honest, I was emotional. But I did not cry like usual. It was more a sort of happy emotion," he said. IPL 2025 Final | Rishi Sunak Interview: 'I am a big Virat Kohli fan... RCB is my team' With Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the 27-year-old forged a three-pronged pace attack, which played a crucial role in RCB lifting their first IPL trophy. "Both of them are world-class bowlers. Bhuvi bhaiya and Josh Hazlewood joining the team after the auction made my work very easy. I was stress-free, and as a unit, we followed simple bowling plans and stuck to them. I enjoyed working with them a lot and would like to do so in the future also," he said. "With Josh and Bhuvi bhai around, the plan given to me was that I should swing the ball aggressively, make the most of the new ball, and try to stay ahead of the batsman [batter]," he added. In two and a half months, Dayal has picked Hazlewood's brain to work on his red-ball bowling. "What I have learned from Josh is to bowl at the perfect spot. The top of off stump with pace. What we say is bowling on a coin consistently without being erratic," he revealed. Virat Kohli's love for 'dhaba' food, priority for family & more | RCB bus driver shares stories RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in the final in front of more than 91,000 fans, who erupted in joy when Kohli lifted the trophy at the world's biggest cricket stadium. The 36-year-old Kohli, the only man to have played all 18 years for the same IPL team since its inaugural season in 2008, fittingly top-scored with 43 to anchor Bengaluru to victory. Kohli, who captained Bengaluru in 143 matches between 2011 and 2023, had been on the losing side in three previous IPL finals. Dayal admitted that they wanted to win the trophy for Virat Kohli and vowed to repeat it in the future as well. "Whatever is done for Virat bhaiya is very less. He has given this franchise 18 years and has seen so many ups and downs. And we are very happy to have won the trophy and want to repeat it in the future also," he said. The 27-year-old shrugged off the suggestion that his omission from the India A squad for the England tour, which he has been part of in recent years, added extra motivation to do well in the final. "I don't know about India A and India selection. My job is to work hard day and night until I reach that stage. There is no shortage of motivation in life," he said.
