Ashley Tisdale on what makes her High School Musical character iconic

Washington DC [US], June 22 (ANI): Actress and singer Ashley Tisdale talked about her 'High School Musical' character and what made it iconic. Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans, a student with a love of theatre in the hit Disney franchise, recently shared what she thought was "so funny" about the role, reported People. "When I played the character of Sharpay -- I think it was probably what made her so funny -- was that I truly thought [Sharpay] was the popular girl in school. I thought Sharpay was popular, and I played it like she was popular," Tisdale recalled. "And [director] Kenny Ortega enhanced that. He made me feel like I was popular. But what's so funny is that she's not the popular girl. She's the drama queen. And my husband's like, 'That's what's so funny about how you played it. You thought you were popular,' " she continued, according to People. The actress also shared how it feels "so cool" to see the character find new life on social media and in meme culture. "Sharpay is -- I swear she's mother to everybody -- because it's like she just keeps coming back on these memes and people keep talking and doing the songs," she said, adding, "And I'm just like, I mean, out of everyone in High School Musical, my character is the most iconic. It's so cool." Tisdale, who also voices Candace Flynn in the hit animated series Phineas and Ferb, said how lucky she feels to have been a part of multiple franchises that have reached cult status. "I mean, it's so cool ... It's really awesome to be a part of these projects that have really been so prevalent in pop culture and to play these characters," she adds. "It's just, you're like, 'Dang, man.' I can't believe out of everything that I auditioned for [...] I got this animation [series] that has lasted this long. Or I was always trying to get a Disney movie, and never got the movie. And then, I got High School Musical," according to People. "Out of all the ones, I get that. This is pretty awesome," she said, reported People. 'High School Musical' became one of the most successful Disney Channel Original movies of all time. It generated two popular sequel films, the third of which was released in theatres in 2008 and earned more than USD 250 million worldwide at the box office, per Variety. Two sequels, High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year, were released in August 2007 and October 2008, respectively. (ANI)

Ashley Tisdale Jokes About Her Daughter's Obsession With High School Musical

Last Updated: Ashley Tisdale shared that her daughter has become a big fan of the High School Musical trilogy and loves the songs Ashley Tisdale's daughter, Jupiter, recently made a fun discovery that her mom is Sharpay Evans from the popular High School Musical movies. In a TikTok video, Ashley shared that Jupiter has become a big fan of all three films and loves the songs too, especially Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, which the actress dislikes. Ashley explained that her daughter only started loving the movies again after watching her niece perform in a High School Musical stage play. Before this, Jupiter had seen the movies but wasn't very interested. But seeing her cousin act as her mother's character seems to have sparked a new love for the trilogy. She explained, 'Jupiter saw my niece in the High School Musical play last weekend. When she's seen the movie in the past, she never really cared about it, but I think seeing my niece in the play, play me, has just changed her. So she had to watch all three movies. She will not stop listening to the music. It's playing in the house right now. When I'm on walks with her, she asks for me to play it. When I'm in the car, she asks me to play it, specifically High School Musical 2. Her favourite song is Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, I hate that song. I don't know what kind of karma this is, but this is wild." 'She screams out, she screams out in public, 'I'm Sharpay's baby,' like I can't. I just feel so embarrassed when I'm walking into a store and she's like, 'We're all in this,' and I'm like, 'Oh, my God.' It's really sweet, but after like, a good week straight of listening to the music again, it's like, 'Ok. We're good. We don't need to watch this again. We don't have to listen to this anymore.' I always have to be like, 'Don't sing that next to me.' Because it's like, someone's gonna be like, 'Oh my god, I saw Ashley strolling her child and she was listening to her own music from High School Musical'," Ashley Tisdale added. It was added later in the extended version, which came out on DVD and streaming platforms. Other than Jupiter, Ashley Tisdale also has another daughter named Emerson, whom she shares with her husband, Christopher French. First Published:

Ashley Tisdale Shares Daughter's Reaction to High School Musical

Originally appeared on E! Online Ashley Tisdale's daughter Jupiter has some fabulous requests. After all, the 4-year-old has learned from the best: her mom's High School Musical character, Sharpay Evans. The 'Be Good To Me' singer recently shared that Jupiter—whom she shares with husband Christopher French—will 'not stop' watching the Disney film after she saw her cousin play her mom's former role in a play. 'When she's seen the [original] movie in the past, she never really cared about it,' Ashley, 39, said in a May 13 TikTok video. 'But I think seeing my niece in the play has just changed her. She had to watch all three movies. She will not stop listening to the music. When I'm on walks with her, she asks for me to play it.' More from E! In fact, Jupiter's favorite song is Sharpay's duet with brother Ryan Evans (played by Lucas Gabriel) in the second movie, 'HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A'—although, Ashley isn't a huge fan of the Tiki-inspired hit. 'I hate that song, but I'm having to listen to it over and over,' she joked. 'Also, she screams out in public, 'I'm Sharpay's baby!' I literally can't.' Jupiter's newfound love for the musical film doesn't stop there, as Ashley—also mom to 11-month-old son Emerson—revealed her daughter sings 'We're All in This Together' when they're shopping in the store together. And while she occasionally gets 'embarrassed' by the moment, she also finds it endearing. 'It's really sweet,' she continued, 'but after a good week straight of listening to the music again, it's like, 'Okay…we're good. We don't need to watch this again.' Jupiter's latest reaction to High School Musical is just as hilarious as her first watch over a year ago, where she believed that Troy Bolton (portrayed by Zac Efron) was her dad. 'She's like, 'Daddy!' I was like, 'No, no, no,'' Ashley recalled in the Jan. 15 episode of the Breaking Beauty podcast, before sharing what made her daughter believe she had familial ties to Zac. 'Just because they have dark hair.' Ashley Tisdale's daughter tells people she's ‘Sharpay's baby': ‘What kind of karma is this?'

Ashley Tisdale is a mom of two and a business owner. But before that, she was best known for originating the role of Sharpay Evans in Disney's hit trilogy 'High School Musical.' Now that she has daughters of her own, Tisdale said in a new TikTok that her oldest daughter, 4-year-old Jupiter, has discovered a love for the 'High School Musical' movies and its music. 'I don't know what kind of karma this is, but Jupiter saw my niece in 'High School Musical' the play last weekend,' Tisdale shared in the TikTok video. 'When she's seen the movie in the past like she never really cared about it. But I think seeing my niece in the play, play me (Sharpay Evans) has just changed her so she had to watch all three movies.' As Tisdale continued, she said Jupiter 'will not stop listening to the music. It's playing in the house right now. When I'm on walks with her, she asks for me to play it. When I'm in the car, she asks for me to play it, specifically 'High School Musical 2.'' The actress said Jupiter's favorite song is 'HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A,' a song Tisdale admits she hates. 'I'm having to listen to it over and over.' 'Also, she screams out, she screams out in public. 'I'm Sharpay's baby.' I just feel so embarrassed when I'm walking into a store and she's like, 'we're all in this together.' I'm like, 'oh, my.'' Although Tisdale says it's 'really sweet' to see her daughter taking an interest in her work, 'after, like, a good week straight of listening to the music again, it's like, 'Okay, we're good. We don't need to watch this again.'' In addition to Jupiter, Tisdale and her husband, Christopher French, are also parents to a second daughter, Emerson, who was born in September.
