Operation Marhaba 2025 Focuses on Traffic Fluidity, Enhanced Security & Local Support

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, said on Tuesday 03 June that Operation Marhaba 2025 is set to be mainly focused on ensuring traffic fluidity, enhancing security, providing local support and maintaining heightened health vigilance. Speaking during question time at the House of Councillors, Bourita stated that 29 ships belonging to seven shipping companies will operate 12 routes from the ports of Italy, France and Spain, adding that a budget of around MAD 28 million has been allocated to improve the reception infrastructure at the port of Tanger-Med. The minister also highlighted that security is set to be enhanced thanks to strengthened border control mechanisms, and that local support will be provided through 24 reception centers, including 18 in France and 6 abroad, in addition to the mobilization of additional human resources, on the High Royal Instructions. Bourita added that consulates will operate from June 15 to September 15, as usual, on a permanent basis (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays), noting that staffing levels will be increased and mobile consulates will be set up "to support this large-scale operation, placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for the benefit of three million citizens." Health vigilance is also part of this general mobilization, with the presence of specialized teams on the roads and at rest areas, he added, emphasizing that "the aim is to improve this operation year on year, so as to live up to the ambition of His Majesty the King." Bourita also recalled that preparations for this large-scale, unparalleled operation included several meetings of the National Transit Commission, chaired by the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the organization of a Moroccan-Spanish meeting in Cadiz on May 29, in addition to thematic sectoral meetings. Technical Delegation from Morocco's Foreign Ministry Visits Syria to Operationalize Royal Decision to Reopen Embassy in Damascus

In line with the decision of HM King Mohammed VI to reopen the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Damascus, a technical delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates visited the Syrian capital to finalize the necessary arrangements for the embassy's reopening. During the visit, the Moroccan delegation held discussions with senior officials from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, focusing on the logistical, legal, and diplomatic components required to operationalize this decision. These talks form part of the implementation of the High Royal Instructions aimed at restoring full diplomatic relations between the two brotherly nations. It is worth recalling that HM King Mohammed VI announced the decision to reopen Morocco's embassy in Damascus during His speech to the 34th Arab Summit, held on May 17 in Baghdad. The embassy had remained closed since 2012. In His speech, the Sovereign emphasized that this step 'will contribute to opening up broader prospects for the historical bilateral relations between our countries and our peoples in the two sister nations.' Moroccan Government Achieves Goals of Royal Plan on Social Protection- Govt. Head

The government succeeded in achieving the objectives of the Royal initiative to generalize social protection, aimed at strengthening social cohesion and promoting equitable access for all citizens to their fundamental rights, Government Head Aziz Akhannouch on Tuesday at the House of Councillors. Speaking during the monthly session dedicated to oral questions on general policy relating to the consolidation of the foundations of equity and social protection, Akhannouch emphasized that "the social protection initiative is emblematic of the Kingdom's civilizational and humanitarian depth, and reflects the pioneering nature of Morocco's reform model." This Royal project served as a foundation for the government's social responsibility and a guiding framework for establishing strong and inclusive social protection systems, he added, stressing that "driving structural transformation in the social field has become an urgent necessity, forming the core of a modern social state that ensures social justice and promotes inclusive and sustainable development." Furthermore, Akhannouch stated that the government has adopted an integrated vision to accompany the various changes taking place in the social protection sector, with the aim of increasing its effectiveness. "The development of institutional governance, along with the strengthening of its technical, logistical, and financial capacities, constitutes the operational arm responsible for translating governmental interventions into a genuine social bond with tangible effects on the ground," he stressed. In addition, the government has allocated a significant budget to the Direct Social Assistance Program—25 billion dirhams (MAD) for the year 2024 and 26.5 billion MAD for the current year, with the goal of reaching 29 billion MAD by 2026, Akhannouch said. He noted that this program, generalized in accordance with the High Royal Instructions, is intended to address various aspects of the social deficit faced by vulnerable families, with the ambition of targeting 4 million households—approximately 60% of families not currently covered by a family allowance scheme. The program is based on providing eligible families with a monthly social allowance, starting from a minimum of 500 MAD and reaching up to 1,200 MAD, depending on the household composition and the specific situation of its members, he concluded.
