The Kuala Lumpur sessions court sentenced two police officers and two others to 12 years' jail for robbing a businessman of RM1.13 million in 2021. KUALA LUMPUR : Two policemen and two others have been sentenced to 12 years in prison and five strokes of the rotan each for robbing a businessman of RM1.13 million in cash four years ago. Sessions court judge Hamidah Mohamed Deri meted out the sentence after finding police officers Hasrol Irmey Abu Hasim and Muhammad Helmi Jamaluddin, as well as Amir Moktar and Mohd Ridhwan Azman, guilty of robbing Ngan Hock Leong in the carpark of a building at Jalan Chan Sow Lin on Dec 14, 2021. She said the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution's case, and ordered the sentences to take effect immediately. Defence lawyer Nur Azimul Azami Mohamad Nor requested a stay of execution, saying they intend to file an appeal. Hamidah told the defence to file a formal application, which the court would deal with accordingly. Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir appeared for the prosecution. The four men were taken into custody after the decision.
