Every Lucid Group Investor Should Keep an Eye on These 2 Numbers
Lucid is expected to grow sales aggressively in 2025 and 2026. But two other metrics are equally important for investors to track. Gross profit margin and shares outstanding will be key for returns. 10 stocks we like better than Lucid Group › Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) is ready to ramp up sales aggressively over the next year or two. Following this year's release of its Gravity SUV platform, analysts now expect sales to jump by 73% in 2025. Next year, analysts predict another 96% jump in sales. But it's not just sales growth that investors should monitor. The two metrics below are equally important to track. As of last year, both Tesla and Rivian Automotive -- popular EV stocks that compete with Lucid -- achieved positive gross margins. Lucid, meanwhile, continues to lose money on every car it sells. Some analysts believe gross margins will stay negative for the company through 2026 even though management has stated that they expect profitability to improve incrementally over that time period. A lack of profitability has forced Lucid to raise more debt from its biggest investors. But the company has also turned to share dilution in order to plug the financing gap. Over the past year, Lucid's total shares outstanding have increased by roughly 30%. Why are these numbers important to track? Rivian was able to achieve positive margins last quarter without any models priced under $50,000 -- a feat that typically allows an EV manufacturer to scale considerably -- a boon for most profitability metrics. By contrast, Lucid is still a few years out from releasing more affordable vehicles, and it doesn't benefit as strongly from selling automotive regulatory credits. However, improvements in gross margins similar to what Rivian was able to achieve should slow cash burn, reducing the need to raise more debt and further dilute shareholders. Still, the path forward for Lucid will require additional funding. The company has a reliable investor in Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, but minority shareholders could end up holding the bag if margins don't improve and major dilution is necessary. Is Lucid Stock a Millionaire-Maker?
Lucid is trying to double its vehicle production this year. Sales and deliveries are growing, but the company still faces significant headwinds. Lucid is dealing with a long path to success and slowing demand for EVs. 10 stocks we like better than Lucid Group › Electric vehicle (EV) maker Lucid (NASDAQ: LCID) experienced a share price surge after the company went public in 2021. But since about mid-2022, the stock has been on a steady decline and is down 96% from its all-time high of about $58. The massive drop may have some investors hoping that if Lucid can just regain its momentum in the EV market, perhaps it can achieve its previous share price -- which would be more than a 2,500% increase from its current price. The right amount of money, paired with those gains, could mint millionaires. But Lucid looks far from being able to achieve returns of that magnitude. Here's what you should know if you're hoping for big returns from Lucid's stock. While Lucid has significant hurdles in its path to success, the company does have some positive momentum. For example, Lucid management says the company will double its vehicle production from last year and produce about 20,000 vehicles by 2025. It's a lofty goal, but if Lucid can achieve it, then it wouldn't be surprising to see its share price make some gains. Lucid also made some strides in its first quarter for both revenue and vehicle deliveries. The company delivered 3,109 cars in the quarter -- a 58% jump from the year-ago quarter -- and sales increased 36% to $235 million. Those are all good signs that Lucid is moving in the right direction, and the company could add to that momentum if Lucid's new Gravity SUV attracts customers. While expensive at a starting price of around $80,000, the Gravity is Lucid's first SUV and its second model. Lucid is hoping to tap into consumer demand for SUVs, which is the best-selling vehicle category in the U.S. This vehicle sharing some parts with the Air sedan could eventually create economies of scale for the automaker. Lucid will also launch a midsize SUV, called the Lucid Earth, in either 2026 or 2027. The vehicle is rumored to start at $48,000. That's far cheaper than the Air and Gravity and would help Lucid attract more customers. If all of the things I mentioned above were the end of the story, then I'd have a much more optimistic opinion about Lucid's stock. Unfortunately, the company is facing significant headwinds. For one, American consumer interest in electric vehicles is at an all-time low. The interest has fallen from 23% in 2023 to 16% now, according to AAA. The decline is likely temporary and brought on by the rising cost of vehicles over the past few years, but it's hurting electric vehicle companies nonetheless. With Lucid still only offering luxury vehicles, which start at around $70,000, many U.S. buyers simply can't afford Lucid's products. For comparison's sake, Lucid's lowest-priced Air sedan costs 43% more than the average transaction price for a new vehicle. What's more, Lucid's management has said that the current automotive tariffs could hurt gross margins in the range between 8% to 15%. If the company continues to feel that pressure, it might have to raise prices to offset rising costs. Making matters worse, the Trump administration appears eager to pull back on EV tax credits and EV charging infrastructure. While Lucid's vehicles were too expensive to qualify for the credits, the federal government's pivot away from helping the EV industry build infrastructure isn't good for mass adoption of electric vehicles. Lucid is on a long, winding path on its way to success, and there are no guarantees it'll get there. The next few years will likely be critical for Lucid as it ramps up production, launches new models, and tries to increase sales and lower costs. All those obstacles would be difficult on their own, but they're exacerbated by the fact that people appear to be cautious about buying EVs right now. I think Lucid is making progress, but it's probably not enough to kick its share price into overdrive and make it a millionaire-maker. Still, I'll be keeping a close eye on what the company is doing as it carves out a niche in the EV market. Dr Norah Patten on the less glamorous side of space training
When you picture astronaut training, chances are you're imagining extremely serious, Hans Zimmer soundtracked scenes from the likes of Interstellar, Gravity or Ad Astra. Chances are you're probably not picturing a Ballina woman perfecting her zero gravity approach; however, Dr. Norah Patten: engineer and Ireland's very own spacebound trailblazer, is the REAL face of space exploration in 2025. As she edges closer to becoming the first Irish person in space, Norah's training regimen is, as you'd expect; rigorous, technical, and full of acronyms. But it also comes with a healthy dose of chaos and very human moments. She sat down with this week to lift the visor on what really goes on behind the scenes of astronaut prep. When you picture astronaut training, chances are you're imagining extremely serious, Hans Zimmer soundtracked scenes from the likes of Interstellar, Gravity or Ad Astra. Pic: Facebook 'I think with social media, it's been great having that as a platform to share some of the some of the preparation we do, and some of the programs that we've we've worked on,' she began. 'I think people like to hear about the kind of quirky things…for example, the microgravity flights are often named 'the vomit comet' because people get motion sick on them. 'Because you're flying in this trajectory on the aircraft where it's like you're flying up and down, and you're getting this 20 seconds of weightlessness, and you then transition into like a 2g pull, so everything becomes heavy, and often in those transitions, people can get motion sick and and so people often like to hear, did you get sick? You know, and what do you eat in advance?' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aer Lingus (@aerlingus) Norah sees her pre-flight meal as an essential part of the launch day routine, admitting she has it down to a 'fine art' by now. 'I know a chicken wrap, a plain chicken wrap, maybe two and a half hours before I fly and I'm perfect. I haven't gotten sick. If you don't eat, you're more likely to get sick. So there's all these combinations.' Another lesser-known but entirely practical part of space preparation is the use of adult nappies—yes, even astronauts have to think about bathroom breaks when suited up, with Norah spilling the beans on the less glamorous side of space exploration. Chances are you're probably not picturing a Ballina woman perfecting her zero gravity approach, however, Dr. Norah Patten: engineer and Ireland's very own spacebound trailblazer is the REAL face of space exploration in 2025. Pic: Instagram/ Dr Norah Patten 'It's a maximum absorbency garment, it's a mag, and you actually wear those on the space flight. Astronauts wear them on the way to the space station. It's just, if you did have to go to the toilet, there's no toilets on the spacecraft. So what do you do? You wear a mag on your space flight. I think it's those interesting little facts that people like to get a sense of that the human side.' Norah's journey has also quietly transformed her into a role model for a new generation of space enthusiasts, especially in Ireland. Her presence in the space world shows young people—particularly girls and those from underrepresented communities—that space isn't just for a select few. It's a career path that can start with stargazing in Mayo and lead all the way to orbit. As she edges closer to becoming the first Irish person in space, Norah's training regimen is, as you'd expect; rigorous, technical, and full of acronyms. Pic: Facebook 'It's sometimes hard to put into words, because it's something I don't for one second take for granted,' she remarked of her newfound fame. 'Sometimes I get recognized out, you know, with little kids coming up, and they're like, 'oh, there's Nora!' And it's really, really special to see. 'I just want to be able to use the flight as a means of engaging with as many, not just kids, adults too, in Ireland, just to share what we're doing, inspire them and If there was some big dream or ambition they had, to find possible routes to make it happen.' Norah has been selected for a mission on board Virgin Galactic's second generation of spacecraft that will hopefully launch in 2026 Aer Lingus has since partnered with Dr Patten ahead of her historic space mission, with the Irish airline proudly flying Norah as she crosses the Atlantic while undertaking this vital space research.

Lucid Prepares Next Wave Of EVs As Trademarks Signal Product Expansion
Several new trademarks have revealed the possible names for Lucid's next models, as the company looks to expand its lineup beyond the full-size Air sedan and Gravity three-row SUV. Considering Lucid already occupies these segments, these future models should hopefully be more affordable, giving the brand higher-volume alternatives to the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. The brand has, after all, already teased a midsize SUV and confirmed a Model Y competitor. Here's a look at all the latest Lucid trademarks. The Lucid Earth trademark already popped up a few weeks ago, and it has since been confirmed that this will be a new smaller EV. It's set to go into production in 2026, when it should compete head-on with the Tesla Model Y. The newest trademark is for an Earth Dream Edition, filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, adding further confirmation that this is a new Lucid production model. The brand's Dream Edition EVs are typically sold for a limited time after a new car is launched. They offer the best outputs and features, and also carry the highest prices. A price of under $50,000 and a class-leading range are expected for this model, but the Dream Edition could cost more than this. Another trademark, this time filed with the Government of Canada, is for the Lucid Ocean. If that name sounds familiar, you may be thinking of the Fisker Ocean SUV. However, Fisker's recent bankruptcy presumably means that the "Ocean" name is back up for grabs, and since it fits in thematically with other Lucid model names, it's a logical choice. It's not known what vehicle the Ocean name could apply to, but a smaller sedan to slot in below the Air sounds like a logical move. It would give the brand a true BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE rival, leaving the Air to do battle with the i7 and EQS. The last time "Lucid Space" was mentioned, it was by former Lucid CEO, Peter Rawlinson. However, he was specifically referring to the Lucid Space Concept, which doesn't refer to a particular model, but references one of the brand's philosophies. Rawlinson was explaining how Lucid cars free up an amount of interior space beyond the physical footprint of a given vehicle. Once again, though, "Space" fits in well with other Lucid names like Gravity and Air, referencing the elements and/or the natural environment. Last year, Lucid ruled out a station wagon, but was open to the idea of a more rugged vehicle. Given the brand's luxury focus, a classy coupe doesn't seem out of the question, but electric coupes are exceedingly rare. The word "Space" sounds applicable to something larger, but the Air and Gravity are already full-size models, so it's anyone's guess what this model could be. While Lucid has not yet come close to toppling Tesla, it's doing what a lot of other EV startups couldn't: surviving. And, with only two high-end models on sale presently, the potential for growth is enormous if the brand launches two or more models that are more accessible. The Earth is the only one that looks like a guarantee, but we can't wait to see the possibilities of the Ocean and Space nameplates. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
