'Iran Can Never Have Nuclear Weapon': G7 Leaders Sign Joint Statement Amid Middle East Conflict
Last Updated: Iran Nuclear Weapons: G7 leaders opined that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons and called for de-escalation in the Middle East, including a Gaza ceasefire. G7 Summit 2025: The G7 leaders signed a joint statement Monday night saying Iran 'can never have a nuclear weapon", as they urged a 'broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza". The G7 leaders also stressed Israel had the right to defend itself in the escalating Middle East crisis. 'We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself," the statement read. 'We have been consistently clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon," it added. 'We urge that the resolution of the Iranian crisis leads to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza," the statement read. On his part, US President Donald Trump said Iran 'is not winning this war, and they should talk immediately before it's too late". Trump also warned that Tehran needs to curb its nuclear programme before it's 'too late." He said Iranian leaders would 'like to talk", but they had already had 60 days to reach an agreement on their nuclear ambitions and failed to do so before the Israeli aerial assault began. 'They have to make a deal," he said. Asked what it would take for the US to get involved in the conflict militarily, Trump said Monday morning, 'I don't want to talk about that.' The G7 originated as a 1973 finance ministers' meeting to address the oil crisis and evolved into a yearly summit meant to foster personal relationships among world leaders and address global problems. It briefly expanded to the G8 with Russia as a member, only for Russia to be expelled in 2014 after annexing Crimea and taking a foothold in Ukraine that preceded its aggressive 2022 invasion of that nation. Israel Strikes Again: Who Was Irans Top Commander Ali Shadmani Killed In Airstrike?
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Tuesday that it had killed Major General Ali Shadmani, Iran's recently appointed senior military commander, in a nighttime airstrike in Tehran, a sharp turn in the Israel-Iran war. Shadmani, commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was promoted just days ago on June 13 by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after his predecessor, Lieutenant General Gholamali Rashid, was assassinated in previous Israeli attacks. Khamenei named Shadmani with "meritorious services & valuable experience" in an X post, promoting him to Major General and as commander of the emergency command center. The IDF had called Shadmani Iran's "war chief of staff" and the most senior military official closest to Khamenei, claiming that he oversaw both the IRGC and Iranian Armed Forces. The military asserted that with Shadmani in charge, the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters oversaw combat efforts and sanctioned Iran's offensive plans against Israel. "In all his positions, he had a direct impact on Iran's offensive plans against the State of Israel," the IDF had said. For the second time in 5 days— the IDF has eliminated Iran's War-Time Chief of Staff, the regime's top military commander. Ali Shadmani, Iran's senior-most military official and Khamenei's closest military advisor, was killed in an IAF strike in central Tehran, following precise… — Israel Defense Forces (@IDF) June 17, 2025 The strike followed Israel's "Operation Rising Lion," launched on June 13, which targeted over 100 Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing several top commanders and scientists. The assassination of Shadmani, described by Israeli officials as a "major disruption to Iran's command structure," comes amid heightened tensions and retaliatory missile strikes between the two nations. The world leaders attending the G7 Summit 2025 signed a joint statement on Tuesday, supporting Israel's "right to defend itself" in the war. "We, G7 leaders, reaffirm our dedication to peace and stability in the Middle East," the statement, released by Canada, stated. Iran officially confirmed no death for Shadmani, though state media indicated intensified Israeli strikes in Tehran. The war, which has had Iran retaliate with "Operation True Promise III," continues to instill fear of an expanded regional war.

G7 Leaders Issue Stern Warning to Iran Over Nuclear Ambitions
World leaders on Iran of Seven (G7) countries meeting in Canada issued a statement on Monday declaring that Iran "can never possess Iran nuclear weapon ban" and calling for an immediate deescalation throughout the Middle East. This statement comes just days after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a strike on Iran's nuclear sites. The G7 Summit 2025 live expressed support for Israel's right to self defense in the statement. The statement stated, "We affirm that Israel is entitled to self-defense." "We have always been clear that Iran will never possess a nuclear device." It also shows that Canada must have a positive relationship to India... India is a fantastic country for a trade agreement - a highly educated populace, brilliant people and motivated people. A democracy, and a huge market. Canada would benefit greatly from a good relationship with India. Chinmoy Naik, the acting Indian High Commission to Canada, said that PM Modi was invited by Canadian PM Mark Carney to attend the G7 joint statement Iran as a outreach guest country. India will be speaking about new technologies like AI and quantum in the G7. These are current topics that affect us all. There will also be bilaterals at the sidelines. The G7 summit brought together world leaders who urged US President Donald Trump, to stop his trade war and de-escalate it. They warned that this could threaten global economic stability. Canada tried to avoid provocating Trump but leaders insisted that he reverse his plans to impose even higher tariffs starting next month. Unidentified senior German officials stated that "multiple participants requested to end the dispute as quickly as possible." The argument was that the dispute would weaken the G7 economies, and ultimately only benefit China. Trump's protectionist policies, according to reports, were damaging to the six other G7 countries.
