Liverpool enter talks for £43m star as transfer 'approved' by striker
Liverpool are enjoying a busy summer transfer window and are set to finalise Florian Wirtz's move to Anfield with the German international expected to undergo his medical on Friday Liverpool are set to move a step closer to finalising their British record transfer for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. The Germany international is expected to begin his medical on Friday ahad of his £116million move. It marks a quick start to the transfer window by Arne Slot's side who have seen the addition of Jeremie Frimpong. The Reds have already said goodbye to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher to Real Madrid and Brentford respectively. And there is more to come as the Premier League champions move to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth to strengthen their options at full-back. A new forward could be on the agenda too with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike of interest. There could be more exits too. Andy Robertson, Jarell Quansah and Federico Chiesa all have uncertain futures at Anfield. Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours. Liverpool enter talks Liverpool are ready to rival Chelsea for Malick Fofana, as Lyon demand £43m for his exit. Fofana, 20, is said to favour a move to Merseyside. According to L'Equipe, Chelsea have opened talks over a move but Liverpool have made contact with the player's new agents, after he joined Roc Nation. Manchester United are also claimed to have a strong interest in the player. Earlier in the year, Fofana's then agent Bobo Fofana hinted Anfield could lie in the youngster's future. "The choice of heart would be Liverpool," he said earlier this year. "He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, and El-hadji Diouf." Darwin approves transfer Darwin Nunez has given his approval on a move to Napoli, according to reports in Italy. Sky Sport Italy claim the Serie A champions Napoli have started talks to sign Nunez and the Uruguay international, 25, has 'already given the ok'. But Liverpool's demands could yet prove problematic. The Reds have set a £59.8m asking price and want £55.6m of that to be paid up front. Chiesa message New Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso has revealed Federico Chiesa must find more playing time to feature in his squads going forward. The former AC Milan midfielder and manager was speaking at his unveiling having replaced Luciano Spalletti. 'In these days, I called 35 players [who did not make the squad], I spoke to everyone,' he said. 'Even Chiesa, whom I told to play consistently. "There are players who have been out but who can lend a hand. The pitch speaks: if you do things well, the doors of the national team are open." Liverpool forward has FINALLY decided which club he will join
Liverpool are planning to overhaul their forward options during the upcoming transfer window. The blockbuster £100m+ transfer for Florian Wirtz is nearing its conclusion - a move which will give the Reds an attacking totem to build around for years to come. And one more title winner looks like he is living his last days as a Liverpool player - despite joining the club less than 12 months ago. Federico Chiesa tipped to leave Liverpool Federico Chiesa, 27, moved to Anfield from Juventus back in September in what was seen as an opportunistic deal. The fee for the Italian international could reach £12.5m overall but even at that price the Reds haven't got value out of Chiesa. Advertisement He played only SIX times last season in the Premier League - for a total of 104 minutes - and barely contributed on the starts he was permitted in other competitions. The writing was on the wall for the Euro 2020 winner back in January, when several Serie A clubs came forward for the 'homesick' forward. But Chiesa opted to remain for the second half of the season, earning a Premier League winner's medal, and now it looks like his departure is imminent. Advertisement Napoli coach Antonio Conte would like to add Chiesa to the ranks, according to reports in Italy, and now it's been claimed that the Diego Maradona Stadium is the player's preference. "Chiesa would return to Italy,' states Sportitalia journalist Alfredo Padulla. 'If it were up to him, he would go to Napoli, because Conte respects him a lot, because the conditions could be right. Milan also like Chiesa, but his priority is Napoli.' Previous attempts from Italy to bring Chiesa home came to nothing and that has been attributed to the player's salary demands. With a pay packet reaching a reported £120k per week, the former Fiorentina winger is out of reach for most of the league.

Liverpool are plotting a MAJOR attacking overhaul this summer. Among the arrivals is expected to be Florian Wirtz, with a deal finally agreed with Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old is set to become a cornerstone of a new era at Anfield - and comes with a hefty price tag that could potentially reach £116m. Sales - including Nunez and Jota - will help furnish incomings like Wirtz and potentially a new striker. But it's not just Liverpool's current selection of No9s at risk. Federico Chiesa could leave this summer Wingers - including Luis Diaz and Ben Doak - could also be sacrificed. Diaz, 28, is of interest to Barcelona and teams in Saudi Arabia while Doak could command a useful fee if he's sold to another Premier League team. But the biggest uncertainty currently surrounds Federico Chiesa. The Italian winger joined the Reds less than a year ago - on a £12.5m deal from Juventus. The Euro 2020 winner played in only SIX league games - for a total of 104 minutes - and failed to win over the doubters on his rare starts in other competitions either. Back in January it was speculated that Chiesa would cut his Liverpool adventure short and return to Serie A. © IMAGO Real Betis want Chiesa The transfer noise has increased once again during this off-season - but the forward may well have an opportunity to test himself in a different environment. That's because according to a new report in Fichajes, Real Betis have got plans to add Chiesa on loan next season. Advertisement 'The Italian winger, who failed to establish himself at Liverpool, is now in the sights of the Betis, who see him as a market opportunity to strengthen their attack,' reads a report. 'Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly approved a possible loan move, convinced that the Italian international would fit perfectly into his offensive system.' Betis had a very good season - finishing sixth and qualifying for the Europa League as well as earning a runners-up spot in the Conference League. But they are losing talisman Antony - who is returning to Manchester United after a successful loan. Chiesa would presumably come to the club as an Antony replacement on the right wing.

In order to accommodate the new arrivals, however, some outgoings will be required. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota could both be on their way out as the club source a new No9 and there is uncertainty over Slot's current array of wingers too. Chiesa could be set for exit It appears that Luis Diaz's future is hanging in the balance amid transfer interest from Barcelona and Al-Nassr. And in an item discussing Napoli's transfer business this summer, it was revealed by Caught Offside that Chiesa knows his Liverpool days are OVER. 'A year ago, [Antonio] Conte had shown interest in Federico Chiesa, who was on his way out of Juventus,' a report reads. 'However, there was no negotiation at the time. After a season with little playing time at Liverpool, Chiesa considers his English adventure over.' It remains to be seen whether the Italian title-holders come forward with an offer and Chiesa's wage demands have scuppered previous interest from Serie A.
