Robin Propper demands Rangers transfer sitdown as he wants answers, Balogun eyes reunion and Morelos airs pride

The defender is considering a return to former club FC Twente while Alfredo Morelos reflects after 200 goals Robin Propper has slammed the brakes on his move back to FC Twente until after a sit down with new Rangers boss Russell Martin. The Dutch defender played 43 games for Gers last season, but was often on the end of stick from fans and pundits alike as he suffered an indifferent campaign after Philippe Clement brought him to Glasgow from the Eredivise. ‌ Twente are keen to bring their former skipper home and a deal could be done to bring the 31-year-old back to the Netherlands for £1.5million ‌ But Jan Streuer, Twente's new sporting director has revealed Propper is still weighing up his options and isnt ruling out staying to fight for his place until he's spoken with Martin. Streuer said: "We have to wait and see with him. Robin wants to hear from his club on what they're going to do. "I understand that there are new owners, a new technical director, a new manager and new coaches. "They always have new ideas and they also bring their own players with them. "The question is what all this means for Robin. But he's welcome back here." Meanwhile, Leon Balogun looks set to link up with former Rangers defensive partner Connor Goldson and sign for Cypriot club Aris Limassol. ‌ The veteran Nigerian international was released this summer after ending his second spell at Ibrox. And he's in talks to join up again with Goldson in Cyprus after ambitious Aris offered him a deal to play on the Mediterranean island. ‌ Goldson moved there last summer after making over 300 appearances in six years for Rangers and he partnered Balogun at the back often. Aris were disappointed they missed out on the title to Pafos FC and are desperate to push for the league next season. Balogun and Goldson played together in both of Rangers' recent cup triumphs - in the 2022 Scottish Cup win over Hearts and the League Cup victory against Aberdeen a year later. ‌ Now they could be set to link up again in Cyprus. Finally, Alfredo Morelos insists he's proud of his career as the ex-Rangers star smashed the 200-goal barrier. The Colombian ace netted a double for his club Nacional in a 2-1 win at Santa Fe to take him past a double century of goals. He scored a penalty to make it 200 goals and added another later on. ‌ He was picked up a trademark booking after showboating by juggling the ball on his head, which infuriated the opposition players and sparked a bust-up. Morelos' 201 goals include 124 goals in 269 games for Rangers in a six-year spell. ‌ He's now at homeland club Nacional, where he has scored 22 goals. He's also netted five for his first club, Independiente Medellín, 46 for HJK Helsinki and four in an ill-fated spell at Brazilian giants Santos. Morelos said: "I'm happy and blessed to achieve this feat because it hasn't been easy. "Always in my career, I walked onto the pitch with humility and tranquillity. "To score two goals was wonderful and I am thankful to my coaches and teammates throughout my career for all their help over the years. "I hope to score many, many more goals in my career. "I had to wait a while to get past the 200-goal barrier. But a goalscorer never forgets to score goals, that's the truth. "I work every day, showing that I'm up to the task and the net opened up for me. The secret? You have to stay calm in front of goal."

Rangers star 'agrees' to leave Ibrox after just one season

The 31-year-old Dutch defender is said to have "agreed" to return to his homeland, according to sources in the Netherlands. He was signed by Philippe Clement last summer from FC Twente as Connor Goldson's replacement. Propper has faced criticism for his performances, partly due to injuries, and the Scottish league's pace and physicality. He did, however, manage to make 39 appearances across all competitions and scored twice, including in a 3-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox. TwenteFans reports that Propper has reached an agreement to return to his former club, Twente, although a fee is not mentioned. He is contracted at Ibrox until the summer of 2028. The site suggests that Propper will sign a three-year contract with the Eredivisie side. His departure would mean new head coach Russell Martin, who was unveiled yesterday, will have an immediate task in shaping his squad. The former Southampton boss will start working with the team ahead of their pre-season return later this month.

Robin Propper 'reaches agreement' over Rangers transfer exit

Sources in The Netherlands claim the defender, 31, has 'agreed' to return to his homeland after just one season in Glasgow. Philippe Clement signed the centre-back last summer from FC Twente. He joined as Connor Goldson's replacement. However, things haven't panned out as planned for Propper in a Rangers jersey. He has copped plenty of criticism for his performances at the back, with the Scottish game seemingly too quick and physical for his capabilities, although, injuries were also an issue. Propper did go on to make 39 appearances across all competitions though, scoring twice, including during a 3-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox. Read more: Now, according to TwenteFans, it looks like Propper's short stay in Scotland could be coming to an end. The site claims he's reached an agreement to go back to his old club, Twente. The report fails to mention a fee, with the defender contracted at Ibrox until the summer of 2028. However, they have suggested that Propper will sign a three-year contract at the Eredivisie side. Russell Martin was yesterday unveiled as Rangers' new head coach. The former Southampton boss will immediately get to work on shaping his squad ahead of the players returning for pre-season later this month.

Robin Propper Rangers transfer exit 'agreed' with Dutch defender set for quickfire Eredivisie return

Reports in the Netherlands claim that Propper's stint in Glasgow is over after one season Robin Propper is reportedly on the brink of leaving Rangers to return to FC Twente - with the Light Blues set to make a loss on the money forked out to bring the defender to Ibrox less than 12 months ago. Dutchman Propper was signed last July for around £2.5million after being identified by boss Philippe Clement and director of football Nils Koppen as someone who could add some experience to the back line. ‌ However, Propper's time in Glasgow has been far from a resounding success. A combination of injuries and lack of form often saw Leon Balogun and John Souttar selected as the first choice pairing at centre back by Clement and his successor Barry Ferguson, who took on the reins at Ibrox for the remainder of the season after the Belgian was sacked in February. ‌ And according to growing swirls on social media in the Netherlands, Propper won't be around to play for new Rangers head coach Russell Martin. The reports claim that FC Twente have struck a €1.2 million (£1million) deal to re-sign the 31-year-old, who will pen a contract with the Eredivisie club until the summer of 2028. Twente are in the market for another defender after being priced out of a move for Celtic misfit Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swede spent the whole of last season in the Netherlands, making 20 league appearances to help Twente secure a sixth place finish in the Eredivisie. Lagerbielke joined the Hoops from Elfsborg in the summer of 2023 but has made just 10 outings in total for Brendan Rodgers' team. However departing transfer chief Arnold Bruggink confirmed last week that the chances of the Dutch club signing Lagerbielke permanently are very slim. ‌ He said: "Lagerbielke will most likely go back too. "That's what it looks like at the moment." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Well to play Twente during pre-season trip to Netherlands

Motherwell will return to the Netherlands for their pre-season preparations for the third year in succession. The team will travel out to their Delden-based camp on 25 June and will play two friendlies in Beckum before returning home a week later. The Fir Park side will face Eredivisie club FC Twente on 1 July, with their opponent for their first match on 28 June yet to be confirmed. "Supporter entry and ticket pricing will be confirmed in due course," Motherwell say in a statement. The Lanarkshire side remain managerless following the shock exit of Michael Wimmer, who left to join German third-tier outfit SSV Jahn Regensburg last week. That means the club have a month to find a new first-team boss before the team are due to go abroad for their pre-season camp.
