Samsung's 2025 Galaxy Watch lineup is... interesting, but there's something missing

I absolutely hate that I even need to say this, but while color options are not particularly important (for me, at least) when it comes to new smartphones, smartwatches are an entirely different story. These are fashion items just as much as they are tech gadgets, which means that every design element can greatly matter for a prospective buyer. That includes the product's shape (which I'm actually not going to comment on today, as I'm not too bothered by the "squircle" Samsung will apparently expand to its entire Galaxy Watch family this year), key details like weight and thickness, and yes, paint jobs. The Galaxy Watch 8 is by no means what you'd call an eye-catching product. | Image Credit -- Evan Blass And while we're on the subject, why do "mainstream" rugged smartwatches have to come in a single size? That was the case for the first-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2, and there's apparently a very good chance the next-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra will offer no case size diversity whatsoever. I know, I know, a smaller-than-47mm Watch Ultra might need to cut some serious battery life corners, but who says there's no market for a compact rugged timepiece with no more than a day of running times between charges, a sleeker and thinner body, and ideally, a lower price point? Besides, if Garmin can pull off multiple sizes for so many of its popular robust smartwatches, why wouldn't Samsung be able to do the same thing? Of course, the single-size Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a big problem too, and because it follows in the footsteps of a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic available with both 43 and 47mm cases, this problem is also hard to wrap my head around. Did anyone complain about too much variety on any of Samsung's previous wearable devices? If not, what is the company thinking?! Most of you will probably not agree with me on this, but I consider the Galaxy Watch FE to be the best Samsung smartwatch available right now. The reasons are fairly simple, and it obviously helps that I'm not exactly what you'd call a smartwatch power user. But even those of you who'd never think about buying anything but the latest and greatest high-end devices have to admit that the bang for buck is mighty strong with the first-ever Galaxy Watch Fan Edition, which is why Samsung should probably strike while the iron is hot and think about releasing a new generation as soon as possible. The first-gen Galaxy Watch FE is a great product, but a sequel could obviously be even better. | Image Credit -- Samsung Now, I'm fully aware that it's against the company's traditions to unveil budget-friendly Fan Editions alongside new flagships, but traditions are made to be changed, and if the Galaxy Watch 8 can look radically different from its predecessor, why couldn't a Galaxy Watch FE (2025) see daylight in an "uncharacteristic" timeline? Just think about it - a new $200 and up intelligent timepiece based on the Galaxy Watch 6 (or even the Watch 7) instead of the Watch 4 with pretty much all the health monitoring tools you need, a reasonably powerful processor, and stellar software support. Why would you ever consider the undoubtedly pricier Galaxy Watch 8 ? Oh, yeah, I get the problem now. I admit that this is just a pipe dream of mine right now, and I'm not entirely sure that it would work, but if there's one segment where tech companies should try to slim down their products and gauge demand, that's the wearable industry and not the smartphone market. Am I the only one who feels a Galaxy Watch Edge makes more sense than the Galaxy S25 Edge? | Image Credit -- PhoneArena Can you even picture a Galaxy Watch Edge or Galaxy Watch 8 Edge with a sub-9mm waist, sub-40-gram weight, premium build materials, a big and beautiful AMOLED touchscreen, and all the latest and greatest health and fitness tracking features around? That's more or less the description of the new Garmin Venu X1, so it can (probably) be done if we put enough pressure on Samsung... and understand that battery life could be a disaster if something like this ever materializes. Samsung is launching an Ultra folding phone – and it could be arriving very soon

If you've been waiting for Samsung to release its next bendy phones, your wait might be over sooner than you think. This year, we're expecting an Ultra folding model for the first time, alongside regular refreshes in the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip line-up. A report from reliable leaker Evleaks points to 9 July as the date for the next Galaxy Unpacked launch. That's the event where we're expecting Samsung to show off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Given last year's foldables got their debut on 10 July, this leak doesn't feel like much of a stretch. Apparently, things are due to kick off at 10am ET/3pm BST. This leak doesn't come with any new specs, sadly, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from grinding away. Word is the new foldables will have upgraded cameras and some new AI software features. Samsung has also already confirmed the new devices will launch with One UI 8. Then there's the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which Samsung seems to be increasingly hinting at. Recent official announcements promise 'industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimised for the foldable format'. Whatever that means. The next Galaxy Unpacked: 9 July 2025 @ 10AM EDT — Evan Blass (@evleaks) June 18, 2025 While we're yet to get official confirmation on the names, I'd put money on them being called the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, because of course they are. We may also finally get eyes on Samsung's long-rumoured tri-fold foldable, supposedly dubbed the Galaxy G Fold. It's been teased and rumoured for a while now, and this could finally be the year it trots onto the stage. And let's not forget the wrists. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic are also expected to make an appearance, which will be the perfect companion to the latest Galaxy smartphones. Although, the Watch Ultra 2 might be keeping a low profile until 2026. If the launch does happen on 9 July, then I expect pre-orders to go live later that day. Based on past launches, pricing is likely to sit in high-end flagship territory – we're talking north of $1700/£1749 for the Fold 7, and closer to $999/£1049 for the Flip 7.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 reveal date now looks like a lock — here's when we'll see Samsung's newest foldables

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are coming, that much we know, but what hasn't been clear so far is when they would actually arrive. Samsung's Summer Unpacked event often moves around on the calendar. But Evan Blass might have some insight. According to the leaker, Galaxy Unpacked will be taking place on Wednesday, July 9 — which is just shy of three weeks out. Blass claims that the event will start at 10 a.m. Eastern but doesn't offer any additional information beyond that. That date makes perfect sense, considering last year's Unpacked was on July 10. It was a little earlier than normal, reportedly because Samsung was a major sponsor of the Paris Olympics and wanted to get the new phones unveiled before the games. Samsung clearly likes that launch window if it's sticking with it for another year. Though it does make sense to get out early, and ahead of both the iPhone 17 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold — which are expected in September and August, respectively. The big appearances at Summer Unpacked are going to be the new wave of Samsung foldables. Notably the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the all-new Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. The Ultra is still something of a mystery, since various rumors already paint the regular 7 Fold as having rather powerful specs, but Samsung has confirmed that it's on the way. The phone is also said to have a heavy AI focus, but that's not really surprising given how much Samsung has invested in Galaxy AI. There's also rumors of a Galaxy Z Flip FE coming later this year, though it's been claimed that this won't arrive until long after Unpacked. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. However, we should hear more about the Galaxy Watch 8, the upcoming One UI 8 update and the Project Moohan headset at the event. The latter of which is long overdue for some limelight, considering it's supposed to be going on sale before the end of the year. You can read all about the event, and the biggest things to expect, over in our Samsung Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 hub.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 reveal date leaked

Samsung is expected to introduce two new flagship foldables, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, in July. Although the South Korean company has already started teasing one of the two foldables, it did not announce when its next Unpacked event will take place. Thankfully, reputable leaker Evan Blass has just 'confirmed' Samsung will hold its next Unpacked event on July 9 at 10AM EDT. The place is likely to be New York City, especially considering the time zone mentioned by Blass in the leak, but just like the date, it has to be confirmed by Samsung. The next Galaxy Unpacked: 9 July 2025 @ 10AM EDT — Evan Blass (@evleaks) June 18, 2025 Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung is also expected to announce a new lineup of smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Two new flagship tablets, Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will be coming too at the beginning of this fall. Based on previous rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 won't be Samsung's next transformative foldables, but rather iterative versions meant to polish and fine-tune the company's foldable form factor. One thing that fans have been complaining about is the battery of Samsung's foldables, which are slightly smaller than the competition's. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 4,400 mAh battery, and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to pack a similar battery. On the bright side, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is supposedly getting a boost in battery to 4,300 mAh battery. For reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 comes with a slightly smaller 4,000 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is slightly thinner than the predecessor, yet packs the same battery | Image credit: Samsung In comparison, Honor's Magic V3 has a much larger 5,150 mAh battery, while the Oppo Find N5 has an even bigger 5,600 mAh battery, so there's definitely room for improvement. In any case, we expect pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 to start as soon as the unveiling event ends, but the phones might not hit shelves until later next month. Obviously, all major US carriers will offer the foldables, but it's safe to assume Samsung will provide some very appealing discounts and trade-in deals for its new flagship foldables. Exact date and time for Samsung's next Unpacked event leak

According to legendary leaker Evan Blass, Samsung's next Unpacked event is taking place on July 9 at 10 AM EDT (that's 7 AM in LA, 3 PM in London, 4 PM in Paris and Berlin, 7:30 PM in India, and 11 PM in Korea). The use of that time zone in the leak seems to confirm the rumored location of New York City as well, although not specifically mentioned. This event has initially been rumored to take place in early July, then mid-July, and now we finally have an actual date to speak of. For what it's worth, last year Samsung's summer event was on July 10. At this year's July Unpacked, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold7, the Galaxy Z Flip7, the Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), and perhaps also the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, so while it's called Unpacked it will surely be packed with new products. We're also expecting to see yet another glimpse of the company's first-ever XR headset, now rumored to make its full debut in late September. Source
