Man on bicycle killed after crashing into pedestrian in Central Park: NYPD
CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man riding a bicycle was killed after he collided with a pedestrian in Central Park on Wednesday, according to the NYPD. It happened near East 97th Street and East Drive around 5:45 p.m. Police said the 43-year-old bicyclist was traveling north on East Drive when he crashed into a 41-year-old man crossing in the crosswalk at East 97th Street. More Local News The bicyclist flipped off the back and hit his head on the curb, according to authorities. Police said he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died. It's the last day to register to vote ahead of the NYC primary election
NEW YORK (PIX11) – New Yorkers who want to vote in the upcoming New York City primaries – Saturday is your last day to register. The last day voters can register is on June 14, according to NYC Votes. You only vote in the primaries if you're affiliated with a political party. More Local News If you wanted to change parties ahead of the primaries, you would've had to send in a new voter registration by Feb. 14. You can register to vote as long as you're a U.S. citizen, a New York City resident for a month and 16 years old. While teenagers can't vote in elections, they're able to pre-register ahead of turning age 18, NYC Votes wrote on its website. You can register online if you have a driver's license from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. If you don't have a license, you can send in a voter registration form to your local Board of Elections, according to NYC Votes. Woman passes out while being strangled in Queens park: NYPD
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police are searching for a man after a woman was strangled until she was unconscious in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on June 6, according to the NYPD. It happened around 8:50 a.m. near 48th Avenue and 111th Street. The woman was approached by the suspect, who spoke in a way she couldn't understand, according to authorities. More Local News Police said the man allegedly threw a plastic water bottle at the victim before placing his arm around her neck. The woman then passed out, according to authorities. Police said the suspect, who was wearing a brown shirt and brown shorts, fled the park. The woman was taken to a local hospital, according to authorities. Woman attacked for refusing to give up cellphone in subway station: NYPD
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman was attacked after she refused to let a man use her cellphone inside a Bronx subway station on Monday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened around 4:45 p.m. inside the East 182nd Street-183rd Street subway station. A 49-year-old woman was walking when she was approached by the suspect, who asked her if he could borrow her phone, according to authorities. More Local News Police said a fight broke out between the two. The suspect is accused of kicking the woman and stealing cash and her cellphone from her pocket, according to authorities. Police said the suspect fled the station. The woman was not injured in the attack, according to authorities. QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 74-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in Queens on Wednesday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened at 217th Street and Northern Boulevard in Bayside around 10 p.m. The victim was crossing Northern Boulevard when he was hit by a 2017 Chevy Tahoe, according to authorities.
