‘Broken all records of deception': Tejashwi targets PM Modi ahead of Bihar visit; dares him to revisit his own past speeches

File photo: Former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and PM Modi (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's scheduled visit to Bihar's Siwan, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state. In an open letter posted on the social media platform X, the former Bihar deputy Chief Minister accused the Prime Minister of repeatedly misleading the people of Bihar through what he called over 200 "jumla-filled" election rallies. Tejashwi claimed PM Modi 'has broken all records of deception' and dared him to revisit his own past speeches. 'You will not be able to speak due to embarrassment,' he wrote, urging the Prime Minister to introspect before addressing the public in Siwan on Friday. The RJD leader raised 12-pointed questions, demanding accountability for the state's poor rankings on key development indices. He asked the Prime Minister why Bihar remains at the bottom in terms of per capita income, literacy, industrialisation, employment and investment, despite over a decade of NDA rule at the Centre and two decades of governance by the so-called "double engine" in Bihar. Yadav further asked whether PM Modi would merely re-announce infrastructure schemes that have been 'inaugurated or launched multiple times since 2015'. He said, 'Will you again indulge in showy foundation-laying ceremonies of projects already underway?' Tejashwi also challenged PM Modi to address issues like rampant corruption, alleging that over ₹2 lakh crore has been looted through more than 20 scams in 20 years of NDA rule. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ambato: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. He accused the state administration of coercing government employees, including ASHA and anganwadi workers, to attend the PM's rally in Siwan at their own expense. 'Why are poor workers being financially and mentally harassed for your show of strength?' Yadav wrote. In a provocative query, the RJD leader asked whether PM Modi would explain why Indian soldiers were reportedly restrained during Operation Sindoor due to an alleged ceasefire announcement made by US President Donald Trump. 'Who is Trump to announce a ceasefire for India? Is he your dear friend?' he asked. Tejashwi also questioned if the PM would refer to the 'unconscious state' of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as he once did with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and whether PM Modi would address allegations of political favouritism in alliance nominations. He cited violence and law-and-order issues, asking whether the PM would condemn recent shootings near the CM's residence and Raj Bhavan. He wrote, 'Will you muster the courage to speak on the failures of your own government or will you once again blame the opposition?' Meanwhile, PM Modi is on a two-day visit beginning Friday, with stops in Bihar, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. In Siwan, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several development projects. This includes boosting railway connectivity and other infrastructure as part of efforts to drive socio-economic growth in the region. Later in the day, the Prime Minister will reach Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where he is scheduled to unveil projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore and launch initiatives like the Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana, as well as flag off 100 electric buses under CRUT to strengthen green urban mobility.

Jagan accuses Naidu of governance failure, launches ‘Manifesto Recall' campaign

Vijayawada: Alleging that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is resorting to diversionary tactics to mask his governance failures, former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that rising anti-incumbency sentiments — evident from the massive turnout during his recent tours — reflect growing public dissatisfaction within just a year of the NDA assuming office. Addressing the media on Thursday, Jagan accused Naidu of displaying authoritarian tendencies by suppressing dissent and allegedly misusing the police to target YSRCP leaders. "Their modus operandi is simple — catch the small fry, use coercion for confessions, and slap cases on our key leaders, hoping the public won't notice the manipulation," he said. To hold the ruling party accountable, Jagan announced the launch of "Recalling of Naidu's Manifesto," an initiative that will encourage people to question TDP leaders about unfulfilled promises. The campaign will include QR codes enabling citizens to access the manifesto. "Before the elections, the TDP circulated a 'Babu Surety, Future Guarantee' bond to every household. Now it's time to ask tough questions," he added. He said that the huge success of betrayal day organised by YSRCP shows that anti-incumbency has set in very fast as none of the super six promises were implemented. He said that his visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday in a curfew like situation shows the measure of repressive methods being adopted by Naidu government. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Quito: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. Jagan said that Naidu deceived women and all sections of people by not implementing his poll promises more so the Sthri Nidhi, Talliki Vandanam, free bus travel, Deepam scheme and other schemes even one year after assuming office. Atrocities on women and young girls are growing and no complaint is being received nor investigation taken up. He said that Naidu reacted on Kuppam incident only after he was trolled in social media. Jagan said that the farmers were in distress and not getting minimum support prices (MSP) to any crop. He said that the debt percentage in the state's GSDP was 4.08% during his regime while it shot up to 5.12% in just one year under Naidu's rule. The ex-CM further said revenue deficit has reached staggering 3.61% which was was 2.65% during YSRC regime. "We took a total debt of ₹3,32,671 crore during five years, but Naidu led NDA secured ₹1,61,301 crore in loans — 48.5% of our 5-year debt in just one year," said Jagan. Responding to YS Sharmila's accusations about telephone tapping in Telangana, Jagan said he was unaware of any such developments.

Light at the end? Dwarka tunnel eases traffic, not in rush hours

Gurgaon: The newly opened tunnel on the Delhi side of the Dwarka Expressway is providing much-needed relief to the congested Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, with nearly 60,000 vehicles using it daily. The 3.6km six-lane tunnel, which connects Shiv Murti on NH8 to Dwarka Sector 21, was made operational for a trial run on May 29 — initially open for three hours between 12pm and 3pm. But from Monday, it has opened round the clock, allowing unrestricted movement through both the main tunnel and the 1.5km two-lane connector that links Dwarka Expressway to NH8 towards Gurgaon. While NH8 still handles over 3 lakh passenger car units (PCUs) at Sirhaul toll plaza every day, the opening of the tunnel is helping redistribute traffic and easing pressure at some of its worst choke points — Mahipalpur, Rangpuri and Rajokri — offering relief, albeit limited, for commuters during non-peak hours, according to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The rerouting of 60,000 vehicles daily — primarily local and airport-bound traffic — is already shifting traffic flows, reducing the load on Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway at choke points where multiple streams used to converge. According to NHAI, Dwarka Expressway corridor now handles over 1 lakh PCUs daily. The Haryana section of the road, operational since last year, connects to Kherki Daula, making it a viable alternative for residents of sectors 81–115 and adjoining areas. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Guayaquil: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. InvestIQ Registrarse Undo NHAI said the 60,000 daily PCU count includes only tunnel traffic. Many heavy vehicles and those using surface roads and service lanes are yet to be accounted for. Before the tunnel opened, vehicles from Gurgaon via Dwarka Expressway, Kapashera and Dwarka inflow all converged at Shiv Murti, creating a bottleneck. Additionally, traffic moving in the Gurgaon-Delhi direction on NH8 also merged at Rangpuri. This caused a funnel effect, backing up traffic well into Gurgaon during peak hours. With the tunnel operational, these streams are being gradually separated, offering a smoother flow, especially outside the office rush. With the new tunnel open, many commuters are bypassing Mahipalpur and Rangpuri altogether, especially those travelling to or from the airport and west Delhi. An NHAI official said on Tuesday, "Traffic headed to the airport or west Delhi is gradually shifting away from NH8. This has started easing pressure on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, especially in non-peak hours. We are conducting a traffic pattern study. It will take two more weeks to get a full picture. " Though the opening of the tunnel has helped commuters partially, the rush-hour traffic is still a Sharma, one of the commuters, said, "It was raining on Tuesday evening when I left Udyog Vihar around 6.30pm for Terminal 1. During non-peak hours, it is just 20-minute drive but today it took me two hours. Vehicles were crawling till Mahipalpur flyover and the rain just made things worse." Shubham Choudhary, an accounts executive who drives from Palam to Udyog Vihar, said, "Earlier, I would lose 30-45 minutes just navigating Mahipalpur and Rangpuri. Now, it moves, even if slowly. On most days, I save about 15-20 minutes."

Waterlogged and helpless: 105 spots in Ahmedabad flooded

1 2 3 Ahmedabad: Amdavadis woke up to chaos on Thursday after a few hours of rain turned large parts of the city into waterlogged zones. A sudden downpour from 2am to 5am left 105 locations submerged, five underpasses closed, and triggered claims of a death caused by ambulance delays. Despite crores being spent on monsoon prep, the city's roads, drains, and infrastructure gave way. The rain began late on Wednesday with passing showers, but it was the cloudburst at 2am on Thursday that caused widespread disruption. Heavy rain with thunderstorms turned streets into streams in minutes. The city received three inches of rain between 2am and 5am. Rain gauges recorded the highest downpour at Ramol, which clocked 95mm by 4am, according to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation data. In contrast, Vatva, Maktampura, and Bopal showed barely 1mm, which officials suspect could be due to technical errors. The five affected underpasses — Akhbarnagar, Mithakhali, Parimal, Makarba, and D-Cabin — remained closed for two to 10 hours. Traffic on SG Highway, the 132-ft Ring Road and other roads crawled through submerged stretches. By 6pm, water had yet to be cleared from 20 locations, with Madhumalti Apartments in Kathwada among the worst-hit as water, allegedly, entered homes there. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Urdaneta: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. The man reportedly died before receiving care. Locals blamed the waterlogging for the delay. Elsewhere, heavy rain wreaked havoc on infrastructure. Roads caved in, including one stretch from Vatva GIDC to the Ring Road. A large sinkhole also opened near Paldi Char Rasta, further alarming residents.
