In Pixar's ‘Elio,' Easter eggs are literally written in the stars — will you be able to spot them all?
When Elio launches into theaters on Friday, audiences will discover more than just a heartwarming sci-fi adventure about a young boy navigating the cosmos. They'll also be treated to one of Pixar's favorite traditions: Easter eggs. Since its earliest days, Pixar has delighted fans with hidden references — some nods to past films, others teasing what's ahead. And Elio is no exception. Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina, and starring Yonas Kibreab as 11-year-old Elio and Zoe Saldaña as his aunt, Olga, the film follows an imaginative boy who is mistakenly identified as Earth's leader in outer space. Keen-eyed viewers will notice the universe around him is filled with winks to Pixar's legacy. First seen in Toy Story, the yellow delivery vehicle has made an appearance in nearly every Pixar film since. Elio continues that tradition. 'The Pizza Planet makes an appearance,' confirms production designer Harley Jessup. Elio also carries heartfelt connections to Coco, reflecting Elio's own cultural heritage.'We were trying, because it is his Hispanic family, we're trying to add a couple things from Coco,' shares lighting art director Ernesto Nemesio. 'There's a couple of Easter Eggs in his house where there's some posters that Frida Kahlo painted in Coco that are in the background.' But Elio doesn't just look to the past — it also gives a sneak peek of what's to come. Pixar often drops hints about upcoming projects in their current films, and Elio takes that to the next level. 'There are a few Easter eggs — or more than Easter eggs — where with our next film, a full-on character shows up,' says animation supervisor Travis Hathaway, referring to Hoppers, the studio's upcoming feature. 'There might also be a Luxo lamp outline in the stars. I think somebody tried to fit those in,' he says, referring to the desk lamp that serves as the mascot of Pixar Animation Studios. Pixar Even the stars themselves, which Elio often gazes up at, hold a special meaning. 'The stars in Elio are the stars in the sky in real life,' explains visual effects supervisor Claudia Chung. 'That is really what the stars would look like from Northern California in the summertime.' One of the film's more playful and inside joke-type Easter eggs is a striped blue shirt Elio wears. 'Our lighting DP has a Zoom screen with this striped blue shirt, and we put that shirt on Elio,' says Chung. Jessup adds with a laugh, 'We didn't tell him.' Chung continues, 'It just showed up and he was like, 'Funny guys.'' All the Awesome STAR WARS Easter Eggs in Luthen Rael's Shop in ANDOR — GeekTyrant
The Star War series Andor wasn't interested in nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. It doesn't drop in characters just to make fans point at the screen. While Tony Gilroy kept the narrative lean and meaningful, the rest of the creative team, especially the set designers, had a field day sneaking in some cool Easter eggs, and nowhere is that more evident than in Luthen Rael's elegant, mysterious antique shop. Luthen's Coruscant storefront, Galactic Antiquities and Objects of Interest, might just be a cover for rebel dealings, but make no mistake: it's packed with deep lore, rare relics, and blink-and-you'll-miss-it treasures that even the most devoted Star Wars fans are still picking apart. It's like the Star Wars version of a high-end gallery crossed with a lore junkie's fever dream. With Season 2 now streaming on Disney+, confirmed a whole new batch of props, alongside some returning favorites from Season 1. Let's take a tour through this gallery of galactic goodies, and unpack just how much history is packed into those shelves and pedestals. From Season 2: 1. Sith Chalice This incense burner was used in ancient rituals and looks suspiciously like the one Palpatine kept in his office in Revenge of the Sith. That artifact was found on Malachor, but Luthen? No one knows how he got his hands on his. 2. Wookiee Shields First seen in Revenge of the Sith, the Klorri-clan battle shields are back—teardrop-shaped and wrapped in bronzium bands. Season 1 teased them, but Season 2 goes big with multiples on display. 3. Togruta Pot With a sculpted Togruta perched on top, this unique pot is the first of its kind seen in Star Wars. It's especially interesting for fans of Ahsoka Tano, since the Togruta are her people. 4. Kalikori From Star Wars Rebels , the Kalikori is a Twi'lek family heirloom, passed down and added to across generations. The one here might not be the Syndulla's, but it's just as meaningful. 5. Concept Mandalorian Helmet This isn't your standard Mando gear. This helmet nods to Ralph McQuarrie's early concept art for Boba Fett, and even recalls the Rako Hardeen design from The Clone Wars . It's a gorgeous tribute to Star Wars design evolution. 6. Royal Naboo Headdress That glimmering headdress is the same style Queen Amidala wore in The Phantom Menace . Regal, iconic, and subtly heartbreaking when you remember Padmé's fate. 7. Decorative Gungan Skull Equal parts beautiful and morbid, this aurodium-inlaid Gungan skull is covered in ancient symbols. A rare, ceremonial relic from a long-gone era. Season 1: 1. Amidala-Style Headpiece Tucked in the rear of the shop, this ornate headpiece nearly matches the one worn by Padmé in Attack of the Clones . A deep pull for prequel fans. 2. Mandalorian Armor Not just any armor—this is full-on shimmering display armor, gleaming under showroom lights, placed right next to the Amidala piece. A fascinating juxtaposition of cultures. 3. Jedi Temple Guard Mask Seen for the first time in live-action, this ivory-and-gold mask originally appeared in The Clone Wars . In Luthen's shop, it looks both sacred and ominous. 4. Sankara Stones Yes, those Sankara stones from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom . They're tucked away in the back room, one of several cheeky nods to Lucasfilm's other iconic universe. 5. Sith Holocron Hidden among the 'not-for-sale' dark side goods, this Holocron is a red flag for any Jedi. But in a shop like this, it's just another antique. 6. Starkiller's Dark Lord Helmet Straight from The Force Unleashed's dark side ending, this helmet sits in the shadows, part of a larger set of armor. A sly reference to a fan-favorite game. 7. Wookiee Helmet The traditional war helmet of Kashyyyk warriors, on full display. Alongside the shields, Luthen's clearly curated quite a collection of Wookiee history. 8. Gungan Shield These energy-screen shields made their debut in The Phantom Menace , but this one's the real deal—not CG. A practical prop with real-world weight. 9. World Between Worlds Tablet A deep cut from Rebels and Ahsoka , this mystical tablet is inspired by the realm that plays with time, space, and destiny. It's tucked by the left wall, waiting for someone who knows what they're looking at. 10. Carbonite Blocks A loving homage to Empire, but look closer: the subjects frozen inside aren't just smugglers. One's the fertility idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark . Another? An Engineer head from Prometheus . These blink-and-you'll-miss-them cameos are pure geek joy. Luthen Rael's shop may be a rebel front, but it's also one of the best Easter egg museums in Star Wars . The attention to detail isn't just about references, it's about world-building. These props remind us that the galaxy is ancient, layered, and brimming with stories we haven't even heard yet.

Taylor Swift Fans Think an Announcement is Coming
Global pop sensation Taylor Swift has been keeping a low profile in recent months as she and her boyfriend Travis Kelce have been largely out of the public eye. But after what could be a hint on her website, fans are expecting a pretty major announcement later this month. Over the years, Taylor Swift has become notorious for teasing news by providing hints and Easter eggs for her fans, including hidden symbols, secret messages in her social media posts, or even the way that she dresses. This week, fans seem certain that they uncovered another one of those Easter eggs. As one popular Taylor Swift fan account pointed out on social media this week, the first letter of all of the categories atop Taylor's official merch shop currently spells out "AMAs" – Apparel, Music, Accessories, and Sale. This has led fans to speculate that she is preparing a significant announcement at the American Music Awards on May 26. While this might seem like just a coincidence, one fan pointed out that the change actually occurred on April 29, which lines up with the lyrics from her song "High Infidelity" which says, "Do you really want to know where I was April 29?" Needless to say, the apparent hint has Swifties bracing for an announcement. "three of these just take you to the merch... this is definitely on purpose," one fan wrote in a post on X. "I know a true Taylor Swift Easter egg when I see one," another person added. "Something is for sure happening at the AMAs," someone else said. "I feel like she's up to something. This is an obvious easter egg," another fan added. "Are you telling me we actually have an Easter egg for maybe an announcement?" someone else wrote. It's worth noting that this is currently the largest "break" that Taylor has taken between the release of her albums since she released her album "Lover" with Republic Records in August of 2019. So she's long overdue for a new release.

John Brogden claims the top spot and the Fred Moss Memorial Trophy
There were fantastic turnouts in respect of past members last weekend as many anglers from all over the region took part in competitions held by two of our local angling associations. First and more locally, a celebration took place on Saturday for one of the Liverpool & District AA's angling greats and a past chairman with that, Fred Moss. For this one match secretary Mike Dickson once again put together another superb open match in which many anglers who knew Fred personally, travelled far and wide to Maghull for the draw held at the MCA. With canal in fine form, particularly upon the noted areas of late, Wirral's Alan Dewhurst's emphatic win on Wednesday with a great catch of bream and skimmers for 36.8.0, alerted not only our visitors, but the many local Liverpool rods participating who were all sure to be looking to sit on a few fish in order to hopefully enjoy a great day's fishing like Dewhurst had experienced midweek. This one, which was pegged out through Maghull, was a match in which many regulars looked for a favoured draw on some historically good areas in which bream inhabit and there was no doubt at all that one or two of the field would be relishing a chance of a decent draw on the day. READ MORE: More than 100 Easter Eggs donated by anglers at the Liverpool & District Angling Association Good Friday Open Taking advantage of just that was Matrix Leigh Tackle & Bait rod John Brogden, and here landing himself on a noted peg on Maghull's cricket pitch area, Brogden made the most of it with no mistakes on taking the best weight of the day for 13.10.0 and of course the Fred Moss Memorial Trophy. Next, taking a ride out along the East Lancashire Road to Carr Mill at St Helens on Monday, this was another match that saw many anglers taking part visiting from all over the region, including yours truly, all to also share their thoughts of another past member who was also very fondly respected, Dez Lowcock. As many will recognise, this huge natural expanse of water looking out to Billinge is a terrific venue. It's full of many species of fish including double figure carp and huge bream shoals along with roach, perch and the odd tench that are rare but present. So with nearly 50 anglers present to honour Dezzy on this one, this match was spread across the venue with many options open for everyone with regards to a personal approach. One man who doesn't need any confidence on Carr Mill is Local St Helens rod Peter Tickle. A winner on many occasions within his angling career, Tickle's knowledge on the dam is second to none particularly when looking at the present form as a guide. In this one Tickle drew a very much favoured area and with a presence of mind on his approach, he made no bones about how he was going to tackle it. Opting for a long pole approach at 15 metres and a 'back-up' of using an open ended feeder on the tip, Tickle took bream, skimmers and an unexpected 3lb tench for an overall winning weight of 17.4.0 to pick up the now coveted Dez Lowcock Memorial Shield. In second place was Steve Mitchell, who, pegged nearby on peg 8, took skimmers for 11.8.0 which closely outdid Royton's Jim Evans's 11lb third place effort. Manchester's Mark Harris and Skelmersdale's Steve Wooding took 8lb for joint fourth position.
