Rohit sets India best time en route 100m butterfly gold
Armed with his new-found mental strength, B. Benediction Rohit set a India best time on his way to claim the men's 100m butterfly gold on the opening day of the National aquatics championships at the Kalinga Stadium Aquatic Centre here on Sunday. Rohit, who was born with a broken right thigh bone and took to swimming for physical fitness, clocked 52.50 to achieve his target of erasing Virdhawal Khade's India best mark of 52.79 and co-competitor Sajan Prakash's four-year-old meet record of 53.24. Sajan finished second with 53.51. 'I focused on my own race. Overthinking and the pressure of competition affected my performance in the past. My coach Nihar Ameen worked more on the mental side of my game,' said Rohit, who timed 54.4 in the last edition and 53.8 in the National Games, about his steady progress. Even as she missed the meet record by 0.37 second, Harshitha Jayram lowered her personal best by nearly three seconds to time 2:37.72 and clinch the women's 200m breaststroke gold. Bhavya Sachdeva overcame a forgettable performance a year ago to match her personal best (4:26.66) for the 400m freestyle crown. Home favourite Shristi Upadhaya and Astha Choudhury clocked an identical 1:03.50 to share the 100m butterfly gold. Paris Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu took the bronze with 1:03.52. Karnataka, comprising Vihitha Nayana Loganathan, Meenakshi Menon, Trisha Sindhu S. and Dhinidhi, won the women's 4x200m freestyle relay title with a new meet record. Only Fools and Horses script reveals lost scene from 1996
The Heroes & Villains Christmas Special from 1996 featuring the iconic scenes of Del Boy and Rodney dressed up as Batman and Robin was once voted the UK's favourite festive show of all time. The pair, played by David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, dress up as the cartoon characters for a fancy dress party and inadvertently thwart a mugging on route. But now, an extended scene has been discovered nearly 30 years on, thanks to a script that belonged to the late Roger Lloyd Pack who played Trigger. It appears that Del and Rodney's antics as Batman and Robin continued to cause chaos. The script revealed that the extended scene shows Del later chasing down a mugger and knocking him unconscious with his suitcase full of hooky gear. The Sun reports that in the cut scene, it is scripted that a policeman then arrives and Del tells him "It's alright officer, I caught him, he's over there!" But the policeman then walks over to the two men and arrests Rodney instead of the mugger. The 155-page script is set to go up for sale at Bristol-based Auctioneum. Auctioneer Andy Stowe described it as "comedy history, in black and white." Speaking to The Sun, Only Fools fan Mr Stowe said he had started to find lines that he didn't recognise while reading through the script. Another scene that never made it into the episode involves Del and Rodney rushing out of their flat just as a consignment of dodgy alarm clocks go off. They go to Del's Capri Ghia to find the group of muggers loitering around it but they are scared off as Del and Rodney arrive to the noise of the alarms going off in the background. One of the muggers was played by actress-turned-presenter Sheree Murphy, who later went on to become a household name as fan favourite Tricia Dingle in Emmerdale. It was Sheree's first TV appearance as a small but notable part as the mugger, two years before she got the role in Emmerdale. The script has been signed by other members of the cast including David Jason himself and the late John Challis, who played Boycie. A 'lost' scene from a classic Only Fools and Horses Christmas special has emerged in a signed script that is set to go up for auction later this month. The beloved BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, a true icon of British telly since its debut in 1981, has thrown up a surprise for fans. One of the most cherished episodes is the Christmas special where Del Boy (played by David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) hilariously don Batman and Robin costumes. This gem of a find was part of the personal collection of the late Roger Lloyd Pack, known to millions as Trigger, and will be auctioned off on June 30 at Auctioneum in Bristol. Andy, who's also a big fan of the series, shared his excitement, saying: "As a fan of the show myself, I was flicking through the script and began to read lines of dialogue that I didn't recognise. "As I carried on reading, I realised that these were scenes and lines that had been cut from the episode. Some of them are very funny." It appears that it wasn't just the arrest mix-up that was left on the cutting room floor, as another scene was completely scrapped. The scene sees Del and Rodney hastily exiting their flat as a collection of dubious alarm clocks begin to ring. As they make their way to Del's Capri Ghia, they stumble upon a gang of muggers loitering. However, the arrival of Del and Rodney, accompanied by the sound of alarms in the backdrop, sends them running. The script bears the signatures of numerous cast members, including David Jason and the late John Challis, who portrayed Boycie in the BBC sitcom. At present, it's expected to fetch between £2,000 and £3,000, with actor Lloyd Pack highlighting his lines in black ink.

An auctioneer discovered a cut scene from beloved sitcom Only Fools and Horses while reading a script for a previous Christmas episode. He revealed a 'whole story arc' was never filmed A long-lost scene from one of Only Fools and Horses' most iconic episodes has resurfaced nearly three decades after it was originally written. The missing moment was part of the 1996 Christmas special Heroes and Villains, where Del Boy and Rodney don Batman and Robin costumes and inadvertently stopping a mugging. However, a newly unearthed script has revealed there was even more action planned, including a scene in which Del chases down the mugger and knocks him out with his suitcase full of knock-off goods. According to the script, a policeman then arrives and Del shouts: "It's alright officer, I caught him, he's over there!" — only for the officer to mistakenly arrest Rodney instead of the real culprit. The scene never made it into the final cut but has now come to light in a 155-page working script that once belonged to the late Roger Lloyd Pack, who played Trigger. The rare script is set to go under the hammer at Bristol-based Auctioneum and is expected to fetch between £2,000 and £3,000. It has been signed by several cast members, including David Jason (Del Boy) and the late John Challis (Boycie). Lloyd Pack marked his lines throughout the document in black ink. Auctioneer Andy Stowe, who is overseeing the sale, described the find as "comedy history, in black and white". Mr Stowe is a lifelong fan of the series and said he noticed unfamiliar dialogue while flipping through the pages. He explained: "As a fan of the show myself, I was flicking through the script and began to read lines of dialogue that I didn't recognise. "As I carried on reading, I realised that these were scenes and lines that had been cut from the episode. Some of them are very funny." Another deleted scene in the script shows Del and Rodney rushing out of their flat as a consignment of dodgy alarm clocks goes off. They arrive at Del's Capri Ghia to find the same group of muggers loitering around the car, but the would-be thieves quickly scatter thanks to the blaring alarms. Mr Stowe added: "There are several scenes cut from the episode that focus on the plot of the muggers. "There was considerable work by the writer, John Sullivan, to establish the threat of them throughout the episode but most of these early scenes were cut from the final show. "To have Roger's actual script, with his lines marked within it, is really something special. This is comedy history, in black and white on the page." The script comes from a private collector who originally acquired it through the Only Fools & Horses Society. Heroes and Villains was first broadcast on Christmas Day in 1996 and drew a record-breaking 21 million viewers. The sale of the script is set to take place in Bristol on June 30.
