Bayern's Kompany cautious of 'dangerous' Club World Cup rivals Boca
Bayern Munich strolled to a 10-0 win over Auckland City in their Club World Cup opener but there will be no room for complacency when they face Argentina's Boca Juniors in their second Group C match, the German club's coach Vincent Kompany said on Thursday. Boca came close to winning their opener against Benfica but let a two-goal lead slip away in a 2-2 draw with the Portuguese side, and Kompany said they presented a real threat on the transition. "We know the quality of the tournament ... every team taking part here is a winning team," Kompany told reporters ahead of Friday's game, with Bayern looking to win their third Club World Cup title. "Boca are a very dangerous team in the transition game. They believe in their moments. The team spirit is good. We have respect for Boca. But we're looking at ourselves and want to bring our qualities to the game." Kompany said they were familiar with the Argentine style of play with many of the country's players plying their trade in Europe. "We know a lot of Argentinian players from the European leagues. It's a football we understand very well," he added. "It might feel a bit like an away game. But we want to be Bayern Munich. We have to show the right emotion." Kompany was happy to welcome attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala and centre back Dayot Upamecano back into the side after missing over two months with injuries. Germany's Musiala, who scored 12 goals as Bayern secured their 34th German top-flight title, came off the bench to score a hat-trick against Auckland on Sunday. "Jamal Musiala and Dayot Upamecano haven't played for a long time. We're very happy that they're back and fit. Integration is an important issue and we have to look at it. Otherwise, everyone's 100 per cent fit," Kompany said.

Bayern Munich vs Auckland City Club World Cup prediction, odds and betting offer
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich face Auckland City with the New Zealand-based looking to cause one of the biggest upsets in world football Safe to say this will be one of the biggest mismatches in the competition as Bayern Munich face Auckland in the Club World Cup as the two sides go head-to-head at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. Bayern Munich are entering their first group stage match as the clear favourites, poised to take on Auckland City - who are a huge 200/1 odds to cause one of the biggest upsets in world football. Despite Auckland City's impressive record as Oceania's most successful team, having clinched 11 of the last 13 OFC Champions League titles, the difference in calibre between the two sides is stark. Auckland City operates as an amateur club, with players receiving a modest weekly stipend of about $90 to cover basic expenses. Given these circumstances, it's no surprise that there's a buzz of excitement within the Auckland squad as they gear up for what promises to be a unique and memorable occasion. As Bayern Munich prepare for this tournament, they've been bolstered by the return of Dayot Upamecano and Jamal Musiala to training following extended injury absences. The plan is to reintroduce both players gradually into competitive play during the Club World Cup. Additionally, Bayern have reinforced their lineup with two strategic early summer acquisitions: Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen and Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim. Both players are eligible and have been included in Bayern's squad for the Club World Cup, adding further depth to their already formidable team. Bayern Munich vs Auckland City: Club World Cup preview, team news & predicted lineups
After being crowned 2024/25 Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich are looking to add another trophy to their collection at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. The German giants begin their campaign on June 15, facing New Zealand club Auckland City at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati (kick-off: 18:00 CET). Advertisement Bayern are overwhelming favorites heading into this first-round match. While Auckland City are the most successful team in Oceania, having won 11 of the last 13 OFC Champions League titles, the gulf in quality is undeniable. The New Zealanders are an amateur club, with players receiving only a modest weekly allowance of around $90 for basic expenses. With that in mind, the excitement within the Auckland City squad is understandable as they prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 'It's probably our dream group,' said Auckland City striker Angus Kilkolly in an interview with AFP, referring to their group-stage opponents Bayern Munich, Benfica, and Boca Juniors. Advertisement 'To experience playing against those teams is a dream for us. To be on the same pitch is a little bit crazy.' Heading into the tournament, Bayern have been boosted by the return of Dayot Upamecano and Jamal Musiala to training after long-term injuries. Both players are expected to be gradually eased back into competitive action during the Club World Cup. The Bavarians have also strengthened their squad with two early summer signings: Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen and Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim. Both newcomers are eligible and included in Bayern's Club World Cup squad. FC Bayern Munich vs. Auckland City: Predicted Lineups FC Bayern Munich: Neuer – Laimer, Tah, Stanisic, Guerreiro – Pavlovic, Kimmich – Olise, Müller, Gnabry – Kane. Report: Bayern to sign replacement defender if Kim Min-Jae departs
Should Kim Min-Jae leave the club this summer, Bayern would go for another centre-back in addition to Jonathan Tah. Hiroki Itō is still sidelined for a lengthy period and Josip Stanišić is planned to cover both at centre-back and right-back. Dayot Upamecano and Tah are expected to be the starting duo in defence next season. Meanwhile, Leverkusen are playing hard ball with Bayer regarding the 29-year-old's transfer. Die Rekordmeister, who are hoping to lure him to the club before the Club World Cup starts, could have to pay a 7-figure fee for his early release.
