Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey Hints at Steelers Trade via Social Media

Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey Hints at Steelers Trade via Social Media originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey have been searching for a trade partner for a while now. The two sides mutually agreed early in the offseason, and the Dolphins waited until after June 1 to help with the dead cap space hit. Advertisement With less than a month until training camp, Ramsey may have just hinted at where he'll be playing in 2025. This screenshot of Ramsey's Instagram shows the Dolphins' cornerback following three members of the Pittsburgh Steelers' secondary and DK Metcalf. Although this is nothing concrete, it could be a signal from Ramsey that the Steelers will be his home in 2025. After all, Pittsburgh has shown this offseason that they are willing to go all-in right now. The Steelers and Dolphins have been in communication throughout the offseason regarding tight end Jonnu Smith. Now, the two teams could be in touch about Ramsey. Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey (5) celebrates after his interception against the Las Vegas Raiders during the second half at Hard Rock Vinlove-Imagn Images The Steelers' secondary is already loaded with star power, with Minkah Fitzpatrick leading the group. Pittsburgh signed Darius Slay to a one-year, $10 million deal this offseason, and Joey Porter Jr. will be entering his third year in the league. Advertisement With the addition of Aaron Rodgers earlier this month, it's obvious that the Steelers are trying to put everything together to make a run in 2025. The addition of Ramsey could build the Steelers' secondary into one of the best in the NFL. If you pair that with a healthy T.J. Watt and the Steelers' defensive front, Pittsburgh's defense could be looking at its greatest potential yet. The Steelers' cap space isn't in the greatest position, sitting at just below $19 million. But if Pittsburgh believes the addition of Ramsey with Rodgers on the other side of the ball could put them in contention for a Super Bowl, I'm sure they'd find a way to make it happen. Adam Schefter said on the Pat McAfee show this morning that he expects Ramsey to be traded before training camp begins, which leaves less than a month before the Dolphins' cornerback could be on the move. 3 things the addition of Jalen Ramsey would mean for the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have invested heavily in their defense over the years but this group is still not as good as the talent and contracts would indicate. This offseason, Pittsburgh has once again improved the defensive side of the football, but there is still one spot that could use a huge upgrade. Pittsburgh signed cornerback Darius Slay in free agency but we don't consider him an upgrade over Donte Jackson. Who would be an upgrade? Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey. There are conflicting reports out there about whether or not the Steelers are interested in trading for Ramsey and until it happens, we will assume it might. But if it does, here are three big things it would mean. Finalizes Super-Bowl caliber defense Adding Ramsey would give the Steelers a truly elite player in every positional until. Ramsey would also be the final piece to create a true lockdown secondary that teams need if they really want to compete for a Super Bowl. Take the heat off Joey Porter Jr. Last season, Joey Porter Jr. took some lumps and his production didn't match his rookie campaign. Adding Ramsey would allow Porter to be a true No. 2 cornerack, which suits him better at this stage in his career. Vastyly improves the slot cornerback position Adding Ramsey would allow the Steelers to move Darius Slay to the slot cornerback and give PIttsburgh one of the best three-man starting lineups in the AFC. This would also allow Beanie Bishop to come along more slowly and take the pressure off him to repeat his performance from last season.

Projecting a Steelers trade for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed cornerback Darius Slay to a one-year contract in the offseason to replace Donte Jackson and while we are happy with Slay, the team should never be content at any position if an opportunity presents itself to improve it. This is the position the Steelers find themselves in as the Miami Dolphins are actively shopping star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey wants out of Miami and the Dolphins are motivated to deal him. This got us thinking about what it might cost the Steelers to make this trade. Advertisement According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, Ramsey is set to make $25.1 million this season as part of his three-year extension worth $72.1 million he signed with the Dolphins on September 7, 2024. After this season, none of Ramsey's contract is guaranteed and there are three voidable years for salary cap purposes. How much would the Steelers be willing to pay? Given their current situation with draft picks, we could see the Steelers sending a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft for Ramsey that could turn into a third-round pick based on production so long as the Dolphins are willing to pick up some of Ramsey's $25 million in considerations for the upcoming season. Eagles' Reed Blankenship Could Be Next Up for Major Move

Eagles' Reed Blankenship Could Be Next Up for Major Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Following the offseason departures of cornerback Darius Slay and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, the Philadelphia Eagles quickly became one of the youngest teams in the league along their secondary. Advertisement Young corners like Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Kelee Ringo now patrol the defensive backfield The elder statesman of the group has now changed as well. Former undrafted safety turned starter Reed Blankenship may only be 26 years old, but he's now become the longest-tenured player in Philadelphia's secondary. He's also in line for a contract extension this season. Blankenship is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Eagles. During his four-year run with the team, he has accumulated eight picks, including a career-high four this past season. As the team gets ready for the month-long break before training camp, The Athletic reported that Blankenship remains in Philadelphia's plans. Advertisement "Fourth-year safety Reed Blankenship, who's entering the final year of his contract, is a candidate for a summer extension," The Athletic wrote this week. There's good reason to think a deal will be done. Not only is Blankenship a durable starter, but he's also an effective leader in the back end. He also has the trust of his coaching staff. "He's done a good job," Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said about Blankenship via Bleeding Green Nation last year. "He quarterbacks the secondary and leads the communication between them and the linebackers. So, he's very, very valuable." Blankenship won't be the only player in line for an extension this season, but he is someone that the Eagles want to keep. If they can find a way to agree, the Middle Tennessee product can continue his career with the same team that gave him a chance as a UDFA. Steelers miss out on top cornerback as Jaire Alexander signs with Ravens

When it came out that the Green Bay Packers had released cornerback Jaire Alexander, we immediately felt like he would be an excellent fit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. We felt like even after the addition of Darius Slay, Alexander could have added another starter-quality player and allowed Slay to kick inside. Unfortunately, the Steelers let Alexander get away and instead, he's signing with AFC North rival, the Baltimore Ravens. Alexander is joining a very deep and talented group led by T.J. Tampa, Nate Wiggins and Chidobe Awuzie. Alexander and Wiggins would be our projected starters for the Ravens, with veteran Marlon Humphrey as the nickel. Meanwhile, the Steelers have had to cobble together a cornerback depth chart that offers very little beyond Slay and fellow starter Joey Porter Jr. There is still hope the Steelers could work a trade for Miami Dolphins cornerabck Jalen Ramsey but if not, it will be journeyman James Pierre and unproven Cory Trice Jr. as the only viable backups on the outside.
