Gajapati admn launches campaign to benefit tribal groups
Berhampur: To reach out to tribals, especially those belonging to the particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTG), the Gajapati administration will launch a campaign to organise camps and gram sabhas in their habitations across the district from Thursday. The camps will be held to tell them about the benefits under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA). These will be held in 345 villages under 86 panchayats of seven blocks, said collector (Gajapati) Bijay Kumar Dash. The campaign will be held till the month-end. Tribals will be told about 25 different programmes under 17 ministries to ensure that they receive benefits under these schemes, he said. The major schemes include Ayushman Bharat health scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan, Aadhar enrollment, labour registrations and cooking gas connection under Ujjwala scheme, and electrification. The govt has asked district authorities to launch such awareness campaign in tribal pockets and ensure the govt initiatives reach remote tribal areas. Ashutosh Mohapatra, project administrator, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Paralakhemundi, said the camps will be attended by officers of the line departments to ensure the redressal of individuals' problems. During this period, gram sabhas will also be held to approve village or community-level grievances and send them to district authorities. Some of these include community forest rights, electrification of the village, establishment of anganwadi centres, construction of roads and supply of drinking water, sources said. He said last year they held camps under the PM-JANMAN in 143 villages in the district. The DA-JGUA, a national-level initiative, was launched by the Union ministry of tribal affairs on Oct 2, 2024. The initiative aims to offer access to health, education, basic infrastructure, and livelihood opportunities for the tribal population, said Mohapatra.

Officials interact with villagers of Devalampeta ST Colony regarding DA-JGUA initiative
The Chittoor district administration conducted a gram sabha at the ST Colony of Devalampeta village in Jagamarla panchayat of Palamaner mandal, on Wednesday. They interacted with the villagers regarding the implementation of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), a national-level initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs on October 2, 2024. District Tribal Welfare and Empowerment officer S. Murthy, Groundwater Department deputy director Govardhan Reddy, along with senior officials of the Skill Development and Fisheries Department, took part in the programme. They highlighted the need for coordination among departments to ensure all government welfare schemes reach tribal areas promptly. Devalampeta ST Colony, with a total of 194 households, of which 110 are tribal, was chosen under the DA-JGUA initiative to ensure focused and sustainable rural development. The initiative aims at offering access to health, education, basic infrastructure, and livelihood opportunities for the tribal population. Mr. Murthy urged the departments of DRDA, Education, Health, Women and Child Welfare, Panchayat Raj, Rural Water Supply, Electricity, Agriculture, Telecom, and Employment to frequently conduct field visits and fix the problem areas. Meanwhile, the villagers brought to the notice of the officials key issues faced by them, such as lack of safe drinking water, absence of a drainage system, lack of anganwadis, Aadhaar cards, and inability to obtain bank loans for the purchase of cattle and sheep. In reply, the officials informed the residents that a detailed project report (DPR) for water and drainage works had been submitted to the district authorities, while a mini anganwadi centre had already been sanctioned.

What's the use of Cabinet post, if I can't help Adivasis: Minister Danasari Anasuya
HYDERABAD: Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya has expressed serious concern over Forest Conservation Acts being used as a tool to hinder providing basic amenities even in the Schedule V areas where the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) live. She wondered as to what is the point of holding the post of Cabinet minister when she cannot even ensure access to basic healthcare and education in Adivasi areas. The minister was speaking at the inaugural of a regional workshop on Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) scheme organised by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and hosted by Telangana government here on Friday.

Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu tribal areas to get major facelift
GUNTUR: A quiet transformation is unfolding in the tribal regions of Palnadu district, as 51 Chenchu tribal habitations are being developed under two major Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs initiatives: Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Abhiyan—Janjatiya Grama Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA). In Veldurthi, Macherla, Durgi, Karampudi, Bollapalli, and Rentachintala mandals, the district administration is charting plans to upgrade necessary infrastructure, including housing, roads, clean water supply, electricity, healthcare, Anganwadi centres and facilitating LPG connections to households under the PM-JANMAN scheme. The initiative spans 11 sectors and involves coordination among nine departments. In the second phase, 31 additional tribal habitations outside PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) areas will be covered as well. Parallelly, as many as 17 tribal habitations in Macherla, Durgi, Dachepalli, Achampet, and Bollapalli will gain access to 25 welfare schemes being implemented by 17 departments, under the DA-JGUA scheme. Emphasising a people-first approach, Palnadu District Collector Arun Babu informed that a special outreach drive from June 15 to 30 will allow residents to voice their concerns and access services. Families have been asked to bring Aadhaar cards, bank and employment documents, health and gas cards, utility bills, forest land records and housing documents to the camps. 'These efforts are about restoring dignity, trust, and hope,' the Collector affirmed.
