Why Alabama's 2026 class is set to skyrocket up recruiting rankings
Why Alabama's 2026 class is set to skyrocket up recruiting rankings If you were to take a look at the Alabama Crimson Tide's current position in the 2026 team recruiting rankings, then it might not be something you necessarily expected to see in mid-June. As to why, that is because Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 45 nationally according to the latest 247Sports Team Rankings with only seven commitments, as of Tuesday, June 17. However, do not be surprised if that ranking changes in the very near future, as things are certainly in place for the Crimson Tide to skyrocket up the class rankings over the next two-to-three weeks. As mentioned previously, Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently holds only seven commitments, which is among the fewest of any SEC team. Of those seven, one is a five-star prospect in cornerback Jorden Edmonds, while the remaining six are all considered four-star's. Lying ahead for the Crimson Tide however are numerous upcoming commitment decisions that will be made in the coming weeks from some of the nation's elite prospects, many of which have Alabama among their list of finalists. For example, here are a few of the top Alabama targets who are announcing their commitments in the next two-to-three weeks, along with their rating and position, according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings. Alabama football recruiting decisions to watch during June, July 4-star RB Ezavier Crowell - June 26 4-star IOL Deacon Schmitt - June 28 5-star LB Xavier Griffin - June 29 5-star WR Cederian Morgan - July 2 5-star S Jireh Edwards - July 5 4-star LB Nick Abrams II - July 16 With the Crimson Tide trending for some of these prospects as well, it certainly is shaping up to be a loaded late-June and early-July for Alabama, something that you could say has already started with a pair of recent four-star commitments in offensive lineman Sam Utu and quarterback Jett Thomalla. Alabama lands top softball transfer from Big Ten program According to an announcement earlier this past week on social media, the Alabama Crimson Tide have landed a commitment from Iowa Hawkeyes softball transfer Jena Young. Young is the first transfer portal addition for the Crimson Tide so far this offseason. A rising junior infielder, Young appeared in 59 games for the Hawkeyes this past season in which she was one of Iowa's top hitters, slashing .359/.477/.545 with three home runs, 27 RBI, and seven stolen bases. This was only a year after Young appeared in 46 games for the Hawkeyes as a freshman where he owned a .373 AVG with four home runs, 18 RBI, and six stolen bases. Owning a career .366 AVG, Young was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection in both seasons, and is likely to make a significant impact for the Crimson Tide in 2026. Georgia Predicted to Win Heated Recruiting Battle Against Alabama
Georgia Predicted to Win Heated Recruiting Battle Against Alabama originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs don't play the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2025 until September. But the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are about to square off on the recruiting trail. Advertisement The two historic SEC programs are the final two schools in the recruitment for four-star edge rusher Khamari Brooks. On3's Jeremy Johnson wrote Thursday that Brooks is set to announce his college decision Monday. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projected Brooks to commit to the Bulldogs. "Brooks has been working to make a decision on the top two of Alabama and Georgia. These two have been the focus for about two months now," Johnson wrote. "Alabama Christian Robinson has worked hard to put Alabama in a strong position here. Georgia is Brooks' hometown team. He's been on campus too many times to track, and he's got family ties to the program." "The North Oconee star is a major priority and has gotten visits from defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, outside linebacker coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe and head coach Kirby Smart." Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images On3's RPM gave Georgia a 62.7 percent chance of landing a commitment from Brooks. Advertisement The 247Sports Composite rankings have Brooks rated as the No. 13 Georgia prospect and No. 14 edge rusher in the 2026 recruiting class. Brooks is also the No. 112 overall recruit in the class. As Johnson mentioned, Georgia and Alabama have been the two favorites for Brooks for quite some time. The Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans were involved in the edge rusher's recruitment as late as the second week of June. However, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported on June 11 that Brooks cancelled his remaining official visits to Texas and USC. With that announcement, Brooks set his attention on Georgia and Alabama. Texas Emerging as Heavy Favorite for 2026 Four-Star DL
Texas Emerging as Heavy Favorite for 2026 Four-Star DL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns are on track to land one of the top defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class. On Wednesday, Texas received two important recruiting predictions for four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland. On3's Steve Wilfong and Chad Simmons each entered a prediction for the Longhorns to land Cleveland with a 60% confidence level. Advertisement The Parker High School (Birmingham, AL) product is ranked the No. 8 overall prospect in Alabama and the No. 11 defensive lineman for the 2026 recruiting class, according to On3's industry ranking. Cleveland is ranked a bit higher for 247Sports as the No. 5 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 4 recruit in Alabama. In 2024, Cleveland recorded 50 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Cleveland initially committed to Alabama on Oct. 31, 2024, but his pledge lasted a little under two months. He decommitted from the Crimson Tide on Dec. 16 and has since taken official visits to Florida, Georgia, Auburn, UNC, Texas and Miami. Advertisement Earlier in the week, Inside Texas' Eric Nahlin submitted a 85% confidence level in Texas to land Cleveland as well. On3's recruiting prediction machine now shows the Longhorns as the heavy favorite in Cleveland's recruitment with a 93.8% chance of landing him. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are preparing for a big recruiting weekend over the next few days. It wouldn't come as a shock to see a couple of commitments follow shortly after. Nick Saban's Impressive Streak Among College Football's Most 'Unbreakable Records'
Nick Saban's Impressive Streak Among College Football's Most 'Unbreakable Records' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. From 1997 to 2006, the Alabama Crimson Tide finished the season ranked in the AP Poll just three times. Outside of a Cotton Bowl win in 2005, Alabama had just one other bowl victory while cycling through three head coaches. Advertisement Enter head coach Nick Saban in 2007, and after a subpar first season, Alabama would go on to win six national championships in 17 years, finishing ranked in the top ten every season without exception. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban against the LSU Dill-Imagn Images Saban's tenacity toward the fundamentals and his desire for perfection transformed the Crimson Tide into a nearly two-decade-long dynasty, with the bench boss compiling a 206-39 record during his tenure in Tuscaloosa. Considered by many to be one of the best coaches in modern sports, ESPN recently suggested one of Saban's many accomplishments to be 'unbreakable.' On Wednesday, ESPN ranked their most unbreakable college football records, including Nick Saban's run of beating unranked opponents during his tenure with the Tide. Under the guidance of Saban, Alabama rattled off an incredible 100 straight victories against unraked foes. Advertisement Following three unranked losses in 2007, Saban and Alabama did not fall against another unraked team until 2021 in a 41-38 road loss against the Texas A&M Aggies. Saban would coach another two years, never again losing to an unranked squad. No other team has sniffed Alabama's run of 100-straight wins against an unranked opponent. The Florida Gators have the second-longest such streak at 73 games from 1990 to 2000. The Miami Hurricanes also have an impressive streak, winning 72 such games from 1985 to 1995.
