Alabama lands top softball transfer from Big Ten program
According to an announcement earlier this past week on social media, the Alabama Crimson Tide have landed a commitment from Iowa Hawkeyes softball transfer Jena Young.
Young is the first transfer portal addition for the Crimson Tide so far this offseason.
A rising junior infielder, Young appeared in 59 games for the Hawkeyes this past season in which she was one of Iowa's top hitters, slashing .359/.477/.545 with three home runs, 27 RBI, and seven stolen bases. This was only a year after Young appeared in 46 games for the Hawkeyes as a freshman where he owned a .373 AVG with four home runs, 18 RBI, and six stolen bases.
Owning a career .366 AVG, Young was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection in both seasons, and is likely to make a significant impact for the Crimson Tide in 2026.

Steelers hint at new Terrible Towel, special announcement coming next week
Steelers fans may soon get a glimpse at the 50th anniversary edition of the Terrible Towel — as a special announcement is coming next week. The official Steelers Pro Shop teased that a reveal is coming, posting an image on social media of what appears to be a close-up of the 50th anniversary 2025 Terrible Towel. Back in May, Steelers President Art Rooney II claimed a new throwback jersey was set to be revealed in July, and also hinted at a 'little celebration' for the 50th anniversary of the Terrible Towel. The Steelers debuted the Terrible Towel on December 27, 1975, in a playoff matchup against the Baltimore Colts, and it has since become a larger-than-life symbol of Pittsburgh sports — evident by its journeys to unbelievable locations such as Mt. Everest and space. For up-to-date Steelers coverage, follow us on X @TheSteelersWire and give our Facebook page a like.

Michigan State football extends offer to 2027 wide receiver from East St. Louis
Michigan State has done a phenomenal job recruiting the 2026 recruiting class in the month June, but now, the focus has slightly transferred to the 2027 recruiting class. Over the course of the month, in the background of the official visits taking place, the Spartans have also been hosting camps for underclassmen prospects and prospects looking to earn themselves an offer. On Sunday, the Spartans were hosting a 7-on-7 tournament in place of a camp. While a Detroit native wide receiver received a roster as a result of the event, another prospect, a wide receiver from East St. Louis, Illinois, also received an offer. Ronnie Gomiller received the offer, a 5-foot-10 and 160 pound wide receiver, he has not yet been ranked by recruiting websites. He has received additional offers from Indiana, Kansas State and Maryland.
