Armed robbery at jewellery store under investigation: OPP

Provincial police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a jewellery store in Collingwood Friday evening. According to Collingwood OPP, officers responded to reports of the robbery while it was in progress at around 5 p.m. on Hurontario Street. Police say several masked suspects broke into the store while armed with tools and forcibly removed merchandise before fleeing by car. The responding officers secured the scene and began an immediate investigation through witness accounts and nearby video surveillance. Members of OPP Central Region's Forensic Identification Services were involved in collecting and examining evidence. Initial findings of the investigation claim that the incident involved a degree of coordination and planning. Collingwood OPP's Crime Unit is leading the investigation. Police say they are exploring all avenues, including potential links to networked or regional crime activity. Anyone with additional information or footage that may assist the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Collingwood OPP.

Cocaine and cannabis worth €170,000 seized in late-night garda raid in Kerry

Cocaine and cannabis worth an estimated €170,000 were seized in a Kerry town last night. Gardaí intercepted a car in Listowel shortly after 10pm on Friday and seized the drugs. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene. Approximately four and a half kilos of cannabis and one kilo of cocaine were recovered by gardaí. The cannabis was stored in clear, plastic, vacuum-sealed bags. The cocaine was wrapped and stored in a vacuum-sealed FoodSaver bag. A drawing of a pink monkey with its hands covering its eyes appeared on the front of the cocaine package. The man who was arrested is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in Co. Kerry. Gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit and the local Crime Unit carried out the seizure, and the drugs will now be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI). Another man was rushed to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment of serious injuries following the incident on Eden Quay A second man has been arrested after another man suffered serious injuries in an assault near Rosie Hackett Bridge in Dublin on Monday afternoon. Gardaí from the Crime Unit at Store Street arrested the man, in his 20s, during an operation in the Dublin City Centre area this morning. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region. A man had been rushed to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment of serious injuries following the incident on Eden Quay at approximately 4.30pm. The Rosie Hackett Bridge in Dublin. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
