Ajax agree contract terms with Real Valladolid star
A leading member of the attacking ranks at Spanish outfit Real Valladolid is inching towards a move to The Netherlands, with Ajax. That's according to Dutch transfer insider Mike Verweij, who points towards Raúl Moro as the player in question. Advertisement Winger Moro, for his part, spent this past season building on his reputation as a potential star in the making. Despite Real Valladolid's collective struggles – the Pucelanos were relegated back to Spain's 2nd tier – their young attacker continued to shine bright. All told, in 34 appearances between La Liga and the Copa del Rey, Moro racked up a solid haul of five goals and six assists. Such production has given rise to transfer links with a whole host of clubs from across the continent. And as alluded to above, this week, one such outfit have taken a significant step towards the 22-year-old's signing. Advertisement As per a report from the aforementioned Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf: 'Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with Moro after the European Under-21 Championship match Italy-Spain, in which the Spanish international played a leading role.' Moro, it is understood, has agreed on the terms of a five-year deal in Amsterdam. It is now up to Ajax to negotiate a deal with their counterparts at Real Valladolid. Conor Laird – GSFN

Real Madrid's 25-goal academy ace attracting Premier League and La Liga interest
One of the many academy talents that Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has named in his squad for the FIFA Club World Cup happens to be striker Gonzalo Garcia. The 21-year-old forward made his debut for the Merengues first-team setup back in 2023/24. Earlier this year, he went on to score his first senior goal – a match-winner against Leganes to send the team to the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Advertisement Rated highly within the club, Garcia netted 25 goals for Castilla this season, making everyone take note of his talent. Garcia attracts interest from Spain and England As such, Guillermo Rai of The Athletic reports that Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion are monitoring Gonzalo Garcia this summer. An exciting talent. (Photo by) On top of that, La Liga clubs like Getafe and Alaves are also keeping tabs on the Real Madrid forward who has proven himself to be a capable goalscorer at the youth and reserve team levels. As far as Los Blancos are concerned, the report states that they see Garcia as only a substitute, support striker as was the case with Alvaro Morata and more recently Joselu. Advertisement In fact, Xabi Alonso intends to use the youngster in a Joselu-type role during the Club World Cup to see how the youngster fares. But considering that he is attracting interest from multiple clubs who could be willing to offer him regular first-team football, an exit this summer might very well be a possibility for Garcia. The 21-year-old striker has two years left on his contract with Real Madrid, who could push for a buyback option in case of his departure in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool owners FSG considering massive deal with Michael Edwards involved
FSG, the owners of Liverpool, could gollow the example of some other Premier League clubs' ownership groups and invest in another club in one of Europe's big five leagues Liverpool owners FSG are considering a swoop to buy La Liga club Getafe. The Boston-based group are looking to build a multi-club profile in football with Michael Edwards a key man in the project. The Reds are now assessing the Madrid-based club after looking at Bordeaux and Malaga in the past. The club is currently improving their Estadio Coliseum ground and could be open to selling in the near future. A spokesperson for FSG said: 'FSG routinely engages in conversations and evaluates opportunities across global sports, a common process to assess ventures that align with the organisation's strategic priorities.' Liverpool could use relationships with other clubs to help with the development of players in the way Manchester City has with City Football Group, which owns numerous clubs around the world. How far the Reds will cast their net is unknown at this stage but it is clear they are looking to start with one club and the La Liga outfit, who finished 13th last season, are of serious interest. Edwards' involvement comes more than a year after he returned to Anfield. The former sporting director came back as chief executive officer of football, linking up with the club's current sporting director Richard Hughes. "It was vital for me that, if I did return, it had to be with renewed vigour and energy. In practice, this means having fresh challenges and opportunities," Edwards said in 2024 when his return was confirmed "As such, one of the biggest factors in my decision is the commitment to acquire and oversee an additional club, growing this area of their organisation. I believe that to remain competitive, investment and expansion of the current football portfolio is necessary. Getafe only won promotion to La Liga for the first time in 2004, but have been near ever-presents since. They were relegated in 2016 but bounced straight back, and haven't finished lower than 15th since climbing back to the top flight. The club welcomed Pepe Bordalas back for a second spell as manager in 2023. finishing 12th in the 2023-24 season and 13th last term. They also reached the quarter-finals of last season's Copa Del Rey, losing to Atletico Madrid. If Liverpool's owners complete a deal for Getafe, they would join a number of Premier League rivals with multi-club ownership interests. Chelsea owners BlueCo added French side Strasbourg to their portfolio in 2023, while City Football Group have several clubs across multiple continents, including Manchester City, Girona and New York City FC. FSG already own teams in other sports, and owned the Boston Red Sox before completing their Liverpool takeover. They agreed to buy the Premier League club from previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett back in 2010. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Fans who hung effigy of Vinícius Júnior from a bridge convicted of hate crime in Spain
MADRID (AP) — A Spanish court has convicted four people who hung an effigy of Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior off a highway bridge two years ago, the league said on Monday. The defendants were found guilty of hate crimes after hanging a black figure, with Vinícius' name on it, in the Spanish capital before a Copa del Rey match against rival Atletico Madrid in January 2023. Along with the effigy that was hung by its neck, there was a banner with the words 'Madrid hates Real.' A defendant who disseminated images of the act online was sentenced to 15 months in prison for a hate crime, and seven months for threats. The other three defendants were each sentenced to seven months in prison for hate crimes and seven months for threats. The four of them must complete a training program on equal treatment and non-discrimination to have their prison sentences suspended. All were also fined and prohibited from coming within 1,000 meters (3,200 feet) of Vinícius, his residence and Madrid's training center. They also can't get within 1,000 meters of soccer stadiums from four hours before and four hours after matches being organized by the league or the Spanish soccer federation. They were additionally prohibited from having any form of communication with Vinícius for a period of four years from the end of the prison term. Prosecutors had said the four people belonged to a hardcore Atletico fan group that is 'ideologically identified with the extreme right.' All defendants signed a letter of apology addressed to Vinícius, Real Madrid, the Spanish league and the Spanish federation, which led to mitigation for damage reparation. The Spanish league was on the case as a private prosecutor. In May, five Valladolid fans who racially insulted Vinícius in 2022 were found guilty in what the league said at the time was the first ruling in Spain that condemned racist insults in a soccer stadium as a hate crime. Last year, three Valencia fans were handed eight-month prison sentences after pleading guilty to racially insulting Vinícius in a 2023 match, in what had been the first conviction for racism-related cases in professional soccer in Spain, though it was not based on a hate crime. The Valencia fans were convicted of a crime against moral integrity, with the aggravating circumstance of discrimination based on racist motives. ___ AP soccer:
