Linkin Park's Debut Smash Becomes A Landmark Hit For The Band

Linkin Park's 'In the End' spends a tenth week at No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Streaming Songs ... More chart, a first for the band. AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - SEPTEMBER 24: Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs live on stage at Heineken Music Hall on September 24, 2001 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. (Photo by Paul Bergen/Redferns) Linkin Park has spent the past half-year promoting its latest album, From Zero. The full-length saw the group reform with new members and produce highly-desired new music for the first time in years, following a hiatus taken after the death of frontman Chester Bennington. Just weeks after releasing a deluxe edition of From Zero, which included several new cuts, the project has completely disappeared from the Billboard charts. Only a handful of tunes from the effort are still present. That doesn't mean Linkin Park is fading, though, as the group's back catalog remains incredibly popular. In fact, the band continues to dominate one tally in the United States, and the rock outfit's leader has nothing to do with its latest drop. Linkin Park is once again in charge of the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. 'In the End' stands out as the most successful hard rock cut in the U.S. on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Decades after its release, it still manages to outpace every other tune by the band — even those released more recently. As 'In the End' holds at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, the track earns its milestone tenth week ruling that list. That's a first for the group, which has long reigned as one of the most commercially successful in the genre. Linkin Park has only collected three leaders on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. 'In the End' is actually the most recent of the trio, following both 'Lost' and 'The Emptiness Machine.' The track only hit the top spot in October 2024 — a month after 'The Emptiness Machine' introduced the band's upcoming album From Zero and debuted in first place. 'In the End' has now spent more time at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally than both 'The Emptiness Machine' and 'Lost' combined. 'Lost' managed just one frame atop the ranking in February 2023, while 'The Emptiness Machine' collected five. Both 'In the End' and 'Numb' are still tied as Linkin Park's longest-running tracks on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs list, as each has accrued 263 appearances on the list, holding on for just over five years. 'Numb' has never managed to rule, unlike 'In the End.' It has come close, as it's stalled in the runner-up space. It's one of several tracks by the band that has come close, but never reached the summit.

Beloved Rock Band Stops Concert to Shave a Fan's Head

Beloved Rock Band Stops Concert to Shave a Fan's Head originally appeared on Parade. That's rock n' roll, baby! Linkin Park's new lead singer, Emily Armstrong, took a break in the middle of the band's set at the Rock For People music festival in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, to give an enthsuastic long-haired fan a haircut. In the middle of the set, the new lead singer, who joined the band in 2024 after the tragic death of former frontman Chester Bennington in 2017, hopped into the crowd to shave off a fan's long hair in the middle of the show. The crazy moment was shared by the The Noise on Instagram, and fans were shocked by it. "Emily shaving a fan's head in the middle of Linkin Park set is both 'what the f--k is going on' and 'THATS ROCK N ROLL BABYYYY' at the same time," one impressed fan wrote on X. "Welcome to the Linkin Park family, sometimes the lead singer will cut your hair while she's on stage," added another. An eyewitness shared a video showing that the moment was sparked when Armstrong saw the fan holding a handwritten sign that said "Emily, cut my hair." She got a pair of scissors from a crew member backstage, but the fan was prepared for the occasion and brought his own electric shaver. After trimming his locks off the front of his head, Armstrong left a chunk on the back of his head. "You gotta leave some in the back for the party, baby!" she yelled. After holding up his sign for the crowd to see, she added, "F--k yeah dude, you rule!" Beloved Rock Band Stops Concert to Shave a Fan's Head first appeared on Parade on Jun 15, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 15, 2025, where it first appeared.

Linkin Park Bookends The Top 10 With Multiple Career-Starting Smashes

Linkin Park's 'In the End' climbs to No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, with ... More 'Numb' also hits the top 10, allowing the band to bookend the top 10. UNITED STATES - NOVEMBER 10: Photo of LINKIN PARK; Chester Bennington performing at Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim (Photo by Christina Radish/Redferns) Linkin Park long ago proved itself to be one of the biggest names in the history of hard rock music, and the band is far from done reasserting its dominance. The nu-metal outfit's fanbase typically skews younger than some of the genre's classic names, so the group's music performs especially well on streaming platforms. Its placements on Billboard rankings dedicated to that consumption format is usually impressive, and that's certainly the case this week. Linkin Park returns to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this frame. The band pushes "In the End" from No. 5 to the top spot on Billboard's list of the most-played hard rock-only cuts in the United States on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and others. The smash has, somewhat surprisingly, only ruled for a total of eight frames throughout its decades-long lifespan. Linkin Park doesn't just rise to No. 1 this week. The band collects a pair of current top 10s on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally, and even manages to bookend the competitive space. In addition to "In the End" hitting the summit, "Numb" jumps from No. 12 to No. 10. Unlike "In the End," "Numb" has never managed to rule the roster, as it has previously stalled in the runner-up space. This week, Linkin Park is the only group to score a pair of top 10 hits on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. Just days ago, that distinction belonged to Sleep Token. The band, which is still riding high off the success of its first No. 1 album Even in Arcadia, filled four slots inside that tier. Now, all but one have slipped below the No. 10 mark. Linkin Park is one of only three names to occupy two slots anywhere on the 25-position Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally at the moment. Sleep Token continues to dominate with four wins, while Three Days Grace ties Linkin Park for the second-most appearances, as each claims two. "In the End" and "Numb" are tied as Linkin Park's longest-running smashes on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. Both have held on for 261 weeks — just over five years. Only three other tracks by the band have earned even double-digit stays, including "One Step Closer" (21 weeks), "The Emptiness Machine" (17 frames), and "Heavy Is the Crown" (13 stays).

Linkin Park Returns To No. 1 In America With Its First Smash

Linkin Park's 'In the End' returns to No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, marking ... More its eighth nonconsecutive week at the top. TOKYO - JULY 07: Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs on stage at the Tokyo leg of the Live Earth series of concerts, at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on July 7, 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. Launched by former US Vice President Al Gore to combat Global Warming, the concert is one of a series taking place over a 24-hour period on July 7 across seven continents. (Photo by) Just a few weeks ago, Linkin Park re-released its album From Zero, turning it into a deluxe edition with several new tunes. The following week, that set bolted up a number of Billboard charts, but it didn't take long for its popularity to dwindle once more. A handful of tracks taken from the expanded set are still present on tallies in the United States, even as the full-length all but disappears. Even with new music now available, some of the hard rock group's earliest smashes are proving to be unbeatable — and the one that started it all for the outfit reigns supreme once more. "In the End" bolts from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart in America this week, officially becoming the most-streamed hard rock track in the nation once again. With another stint at No. 1 to its credit, "In the End" has now led the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart for eight nonconsecutive weeks. It first reached the peak position in October of last year, having originally arrived in June 2020. Both "In the End" and "Numb" landed on the ranking at the same time, and the two have now spent just over five years on this chart. "In the End" has spent more time at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally than the group's other two champions combined. "The Emptiness Machine" – the lead single taken from 2024's From Zero – managed five frames leading the charge, while "Lost" earned the band its first leader in February 2023, holding for just one frame. "In the End" is becoming hugely successful again across several of Billboard's genre-specific rosters. In addition to jumping to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, the track also reenters the Alternative Streaming Songs list at No. 24, after what must be a noticeable uptick in plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, iHeartRadio, and many others. The track also manages to climb on both of Billboard's worldwide lists, lifting just a few spots on the two rosters. Five tunes by Linkin Park appear on at least one Billboard chart apiece this week. "Up From the Bottom," one of the major focuses from the From Zero deluxe edition, finds a home on half a dozen tallies. While it continues to rule a trio of airplay lists, it is largely falling when it comes to other forms of consumption.

Linkin Park's New Single Brings A Recent Fan-Favorite Back To The Charts

Linkin Park's 'Up from the Bottom' and new single 'Unshatter' both chart in the U.K. as excitement ... More grows for the upcoming deluxe edition of From Zero. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 17: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (L-R) Emily Armstrong, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, and Colin Brittain of Linkin Park attend the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 17, 2025. Broadcasted live on FOX. (Photo byfor iHeartRadio) Getty Images for iHeartRadio Later this month, Linkin Park will release the deluxe edition of its latest album, From Zero . The full-length arrived in the fall of 2024 and produced a number of huge hits, especially in the rock world. The recently reformed band — which now includes new members and a female lead singer alongside Mike Shinoda, replacing the late Chester Bennington — is preparing to drop an expanded version of the set, which fans seem to be excited about. Two singles have already been pushed from the project. As the latest from Linkin Park arrives, the previous tune, shared just a few weeks back, returns and becomes a bestseller again, as the group's following continues to get hyped for this highly-anticipated deluxe collection. On March 27, Linkin Park shared the single "Up from the Bottom" to promote the upcoming deluxe edition of From Zero . The tune was a quick success across a number of rankings in the United Kingdom, but it didn't hold on for very long. The latest cut from the forthcoming set, "Unshatter," debuts on a number of charts in the country this week, and as it does, "Up from the Bottom" returns — but only just barely. The track reenters both the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 92 and the Official Singles Sales roster at No. 95. Interestingly, it declines by one space on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, despite what may be an increase in pure purchases. 'Up from the Bottom' was a Fast Top 10 "Up from the Bottom" debuted inside the top 10 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts in April. After launching in the uppermost tier, it dropped just outside the top 40 on both lists the following frame, and then it vanished. Now, all the excitement around "Unshatter" has brought it back for a third stay on the non-style-specific lists – if only for a moment. "Unshatter" manages to debut on the same two purchase-centric tallies, although it doesn't enjoy the same warm welcome as its predecessor. The second track from the deluxe edition of From Zero launches at No. 26 on both the Official Rock & Metal Singles and Official Singles Downloads charts. It also comes in just one spot beneath that position on the Official Singles Sales ranking. Linkin Park fills five spots on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart this week. Both From Zero deluxe edition tunes appear, along with one track from the standard version, "The Emptiness Machine," which finds a home at No. 14. Classic Linkin Park cuts "Numb" and "Faint" are still going strong as well, with "Numb" remaining inside the top 10 as it approaches 900 weeks on this list.
