Ex-soldier who brutally murdered mum with meat cleaver before dismembering her body could be FREED early from jail

A petition was presented to the Prime Minister demanding a change in the law WALK FREE Ex-soldier who brutally murdered mum with meat cleaver before dismembering her body could be FREED early from jail A SOLDIER who brutally murdered a young mother with a meat cleaver could soon be freed from prison. Killer Stephen Wynne murdered 27-year-old mum-of-three Chantel Taylor by striking her in the neck and then dismembering her body with a saw. 3 Killer Stephen Wynne murdered 27-year-old mum-of-three Chantel Taylor Credit: Merseyside Police 3 Chantal Taylor, 27, mum of three, pictured smiling Credit: BBC 3 Ms Taylor's mother, Jean Taylor, giving an interview on ITV News Credit: ITV Wynne, who was 26 at the time of the murder in 2004, later stashed Chantel's remains in her own loft before moving them a few days later into a nearby woods and the local tip. Her body was never discovered, meaning her family were forced to hold a funeral with just traces of her DNA from the murder scene in Birkenhead. Now the Sun Online can reveal Wynne, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2006 after pleading guilty to murder, is set to appear before the Parole Board in two weeks. His will 'horrify' Chantel's family, according to one MP. Esther McVey who has been supporting the family said: "In this case life should mean life." Wynne was originally sentenced to life with a minimum term of 21 years was reduced to 18 on appeal. In 2023 he won the right to be moved to an open prison after a judge dismissed an objection by the then Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab. A senior judge ruled in Wynne's favour, concluding that the Government had provided "no good reason" for rejecting the board's recommendation. Ms Taylor's mother, Jean Taylor, has previously told of the 'deep distress and devastation' felt by her family over the murder. Earlier this year Mrs Taylor travelled to London to present a petition to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer demanding a change in the law alongside Chantel's daughter, Whitney, 31, her sister, Natasha, 53 and Ms McVey. They say current rules known as Helen's Law, in memory of Helen McCourt, whereby a killer who refuses to disclose the location of their victim's remains are barred from being granted parole, has a "significant limitation". Chantel's family say Helen's law allows offenders who falsely claimed to reveal the location of concealed body parts to 'avoid the full accountability they deserve during parole hearings.' A Parole Board spokesperson said: "An oral hearing has been listed for the parole review of Stephen Wynne and is scheduled to take place in June 2025. "Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community. 'A panel will carefully examine a huge range of evidence, including details of the original crime, and any evidence of behaviour change, as well as explore the harm done and impact the crime has had on the victims. 'Members read and digest hundreds of pages of evidence and reports in the lead up to an oral hearing. 'Evidence from witnesses including probation officers, psychiatrists and psychologists, officials supervising the offender in prison as well as victim personal statements are then given at the hearing. 'The prisoner and witnesses are then questioned at length during the hearing which often lasts a full day or more. 'Parole reviews are undertaken thoroughly and with extreme care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.'

Woolworths shopper reveals little-known price tag trick: 'Really clever'

A Woolworths shopper has revealed a little-known trick while perusing the aisles of your supermarket. The grocery giant introduced digital price tags several years ago, and they were designed to cut down on paper and the time spent individually marking items that were on special every single day. They display information like the price, unit price, product name, whether it's on special, and how much you're saving. But NSW mum Chantel noticed you can tap your phone on the tag and it will show you the product on the Woolworths website. "I found it handy to instantly access reviews, pricing, and stock levels online. It definitely helped when comparing similar products," she told Yahoo Finance. Major Coles move to take on Chemist Warehouse, Bunnings, Amazon Centrelink payment change happening this week: 'Will increase' Millennial reveals huge money reality facing nearly one million Aussies The Lake Macquarie shopper said it was "really interesting" to see the technology unfold in person. "I think it's a really clever integration of digital tools into the in-store experience," she added. Digital price tags come with a screen, a long-life battery, receptors and transmitters, and NFC technology, which enables communication between two electronic devices over a short distance. That same technology is used for electronic payments and allows your card, phone, or watch to pay for an item when it taps the you tap your phone onto the digital price tag, it sends you to the Woolies website to give you all the information you need about the product in front of you. Chantel posted about the new technology onto TikTok, and it left many shoppers confused. "What's the point of it though?" wrote one person. "What purpose does it serve?" added another. But the mum told Yahoo Finance why she thought it was a useful tool. "When I scanned the tag, it didn't just show the price, which, yes was also visible on the tag, but it brought up the full product page, which included ingredients, nutritional information, allergy warnings, and reviews in some cases," she said. "As for stock levels, I could easily see which other stores might have stock if it was empty on the shelf." These digital price tags are also used at other retailers like Aldi, Coles, and Dan Murphy's, so it's worth checking if you get the same results from tapping your phone at those stores. Retail expert Gary Mortimer told Yahoo Finance these new tags have been a huge win for retailers in creating efficiencies because staff aren't spending hours going aisle to aisle armed with reams of new paper tickets that might be thrown in the bin in a few days. But it's also cracked down on an issue that enraged shoppers. 'One of the challenges of paper-based tickets was that, in a store with thousands and thousands of items, often a ticket may remain or may be removed. That's often where you get price confusion,' Mortimer said. Customers had noticed a specials tag might say a product is only $9, marked down from $19. But when you looked under the tag, it showed the original price was actually only $16. Mortimer said this would be 'less likely to occur" on electronic price labels because the prices are set centrally and then dispersed to stores. Woolies first launched the digital price tags in 2021 and now has more than 5 million tags across its in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, here are TK of the best activities, dining, and drinking spots in the capital. By Sophie Laughton Thanks to OMA and co., 'chic Greek' is having a moment in London. Headed by Michelin-starred chef Asimakis Chaniotis, Myrtos is the latest on the scene, settling into a posh spot in South Ken with stunning Aegean blue decor and classy clientele. For even more prestige, they've teamed up with renowned Athenian bar Line, No 6 on the World's Best Bars list, just behind London's legendary Tayer + Elementary. We like the floral Orange Blossom Collins and Myrtos' signature Negroni, made earthy and complex with toasted fennel seed and goat butter. A lovely parade of dishes (ask for them in stages – we couldn't keep up) starts with bread and excellent dips. Small plates include quality bluefin tuna, a squid skewer in jet-black sauce, and rustic Briam, a skillet of grilled Mediterranean veggies which has a similar effect to that dish from Ratatouille. For mains, the lobster giouvetsi is a buttery, seafood-soaked standout. Dessert? The loukoumades – sweet fried cinnamon puffs – are delicious but keep leaping out of the bowl. Our pick: ultra-rich chocolate mousse – the haute-cuisine version of eating Dairy Milk with a spoon. Small plates from £12, sharing mains from £28. 260-262 Brompton Rd, South Kensington, SW3 2AS. Book here. The humble lobster roll is a simple dish, but that doesn't mean it's easy to get right. Paris-based Homer Lobster hopped onto the Eurostar to grace us Londoners with a taste of their famous lobster rolls. Homer Lobster is cool (like so many things that come from Paris), and isn't scared to introduce playful creations. Their newest, most decadent invention is the £19 Truffle x Homer Surf n Turf Patty Melt, made with Truffle's aged beef burger and sauce, strong cheddar and raclette cheese, meaty lobster claw, and toasted brioche. It's basically a whole dinner between two slices of bread. It's not all perfect: we'd love some more of their famous burger sauce and some parts were more bread than filling. If you do want to get your hands on it, be quick. Homer Lobster is only here until 15 June, and the Patty Melt is limited to just 20 a day. Once it's gone it's gone! Truffle burger & homer patty melt, £19. Classic lobster roll, £15.50. Connecticut lobster roll, £16. South Bank, Belvedere Rd, 45 Berwick St, SE1 8XX. Just turn up! Best for: delightful comfort food Father-daughter duo Chantel and Joe serve freshly made dumplings from their 1992 fire engine. They specialise in mouth-watering Chinese dumplings and drive around catering at events, festivals and pop-ups. Their 'chubby box' is six dumplings served with noodles and Asian pickles, topped with crispy fried shallots, spring onions, coriander and sesame seeds. Keep an eye on their Instagram to find out where they'll be next. Chubby box, £9. Brockley Market on Saturdays and Victoria Park on Sundays. See what else they're up to here. Best for: a cheap but tasty lunch If you're looking for delicious pizza on a budget and in a hurry, this is the place. The bright blue van serves up a traditional Neapolitan street food: Pizza A Portafoglio, a folded delicacy also known as 'wallet pizza'. Top tip: Don't ask to add pineapple or chicken on top. Pizza a portafoglio, £5. Larger pizzas from £9. Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square. Best for: your new working from home treat? Clapham locals will want to hear this one. Just when we thought we'd found the very best sandwiches in the capital, in comes Outside by Trinity, a food truck taking over Trinity's restaurant's terrace. The options sound (and look) real tasty – like the red curry prawn sandwich with coconut curry prawns, smashed cucumber and coleslaw. So could it become one of our new favourites? Look out for a full review from The Slice soon. Sandwiches from £9.95. 4 The Polygon, Clapham. Find out more here. Too Many Critics is back, and you're invited. Food critics become chefs for the night cooking a 5-course dinner at Canary Wharf's Roe to raise money for Action Against Hunger. Look forward to tasty dishes like the Spiced lamb skewer with smoked onion yoghurt and hot honey. 16 June, get your ticket here. Black Sheep Coffee has a bold new drinks range for summer, from Lavender Matcha Lemonade, to Lychee Matcha Lemonade, and Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte. There are even optional boosters like CBD or gut health supplements to level up your drink. An yes, fan-favourite Norwegian Matcha Waffles are also back, best enjoyed with whipped cream, Nutella, or fresh fruit. Drinks from £2.79, food from £1.29. Various locations, just walk in! Masked thieves caught on camera during home invasion in Hollywood Hills

Three masked intruders were caught on camera breaking into a Hollywood Hills home late Thursday night while, unbeknownst to them, a family was inside, relaxing for the night. The thieves broke in after bypassing the front gate, which displayed a bold warning: 'This house is protected by God and a gun. Screw around and you'll meet both.' The break-in happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 29. Surveillance footage shows the thieves – wearing masks, gloves and hoodies – scaling a tall wall to reach the front entrance. They used a crowbar to smash through a glass panel and unlock the door from the inside. What the suspects didn't realize was that several residents were inside the house at the time in the downstairs rooms. The calm was abruptly shattered when the intruders made noise upstairs, prompting a near-confrontation. Security footage captured loud clamor – sounding comparable to gunfire – as the suspects ran off. However, despite the message on the sign, the homeowners did not fire any weapons during the incident. The residents had just returned from a trip to Mexico and deliberately waited to post vacation photos on social media. Still, they became targets. 'We heard loud footsteps upstairs… and then we heard even more shuffling,' said Chantel, one of the victims. She declined to share her last name. Chantel, an entrepreneur and artist, lives in the home with her family. 'How frightening was that for you?' KTLA's Chris Wolfe asked. 'Very frightening,' Chantel responded. 'I felt very violated, and then after watching the footage and seeing it was three of them – I was more shook at the thought that if they came here when we weren't here, and my 20-year-old daughter was here alone – that's what shook me up the most.' Her boyfriend's voice may have been what ultimately scared the intruders away. After a 911 call, LAPD officers arrived within minutes. 'I am just so glad that officers got here as quickly as they did,' said Alexis, a friend who was also at the scene. The suspects dropped their crowbar while fleeing. It was recovered by police and is now in evidence custody. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for additional security footage. Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Ready with her guitar and distinctive vocals, Chantel took to the stage with Colin Sutton on bass, Thom Gardner on drums and keyboardist Jamie Brooks. The album launch came after being named as the UK Blues Awards Emerging band winner for 2025 Birmingham's Blue Nation. The sounds of wild applause welcomed Chantel and her band to the stage.
