Canva integrates Google's Veo 3 for AI video clip generation with sound
Canva has rolled out a powerful new feature—Create a Video Clip—allowing users to generate 8-second video clips with sound using Google's Veo 3, the latest and most advanced AI video generation model. Announced on Thursday, the feature is available via the Canva homepage and is currently accessible to Canva Pro, Teams, Enterprise, and Nonprofit users. For now, usage is limited to five AI-generated videos per month. Danny Wu, Head of AI Products at Canva, shared, 'We're among the first to integrate Google's Veo 3 video model just weeks after its release. Now, millions of Canva users can create dynamic, high-quality video teasers with realistic visuals, synchronized audio, and polished motion.' How to Use Canva's 'Create a Video Clip' Feature: Visit the Canva homepage and go to Canva AI Click Create a Video Clip Enter a prompt describing your desired video The AI generates the video in Canva's Video Editor, where you can further customize it using tools like Brand Kit, music overlays, and text. Once edited, the video can be adapted into other formats like social posts, presentations, or marketing assets. To ensure safe and ethical use, all content is moderated by Canva Shield, a protective layer that filters harmful inputs and outputs. This launch follows Canva's recent AI-focused moves, including the acquisition of Leonardo AI, and the soon-to-be-acquired MagicBrief, an AI-powered creative intelligence platform. Earlier this year, Canva also introduced its Visual Suite 2.0, featuring new AI tools like a voice-enabled assistant, AI-powered spreadsheet builder, and coding assistant. According to the company, Magic Studio and Canva AI tools have now been used over 18 billion times.

Canva rolls out new AI video clip feature powered by Google's Veo 3 model
Canva is bringing Google's latest and most advanced AI video generation model to its platform. The design software company announced on Thursday, June 19, that users will be able to tap into Veo 3 through a newly launched Canva AI feature called 'Create a Video Clip' in order to generate an eight second-long video clip with sound. With this feature powered by Veo 3, users will be able to easily turn their pitch deck opener or social media post into an AI-generated video teaser. The Create a Video Clip feature is accessible from the Canva homepage. It is available to Canva Pro, Teams, and Enterprise subscribers as well as Canva Nonprofit users. However, users will be restricted to five AI-generated videos every month for the time being. 'We're one of the first platforms to integrate Google's Veo 3 video generation model, just weeks after its debut. Create a Video Clip makes this advanced technology accessible to millions on Canva, empowering anyone to produce dynamic, polished videos with high-quality visuals, realistic motion, and synchronized audio,' Danny Wu, the head of AI products at Canva, said in a blog post. The 'Create a Video Clip' feature is also available for paid users of Leonardo AI, the generative AI content and research platform acquired by Canva last year. Follow these steps to create an AI-generated video using the Create a Video Clip feature that is powered by Google's Veo 3 model: – Go to Canva AI from the homepage or sidebar – Select Create a Video Clip – Enter a prompt based on the video you want to generate – The video will open in Video Editor where you can fine-tune it using Canva tools such as Brand Kit to add text, music, etc. 'From there, it can also be copied into other design formats – whether it's a social post presentation, or campaign asset,' Canva said. In order to prevent the generation of harmful content, Canva said that its new feature is protected by Canva Shield, which is designed to moderate the inputs and outputs from these tools. Canva on Wednesday also revealed plans to acquire an AI-powered creative intelligence platform called MagicBrief as the company looks to broaden the scope of its AI tech stack. Earlier this year, Canva introduced its all-new Visual Suite 2.0, which includes an AI coding tool, a voice-enabled AI feature, and an AI-powered spreadsheet generator. Magic Studio and Canva AI have been used over 18 billion times so far, the company revealed.

Google's Veo 3 video model is now live in Canva — here's how to try it
Google's latest AI video model, Veo 3 (that's the one with audio) is now available inside Canva — giving creators of all levels a simple way to generate high-quality video clips from a text prompt. The new feature, called Create a Video Clip, is now live for Canva Pro ($15/month or $120/year per person), Teams, Enterprise and Nonprofit users. The new feature lets you type a short prompt — such as 'country morning sunrise" or 'cinematic product teaser' — and instantly generate an 8-second, high-quality video complete with synchronized audio. The video opens directly in Canva's video editor, where you can fine-tune it with music, text and more. You can also drop it into social media designs, presentations, or other projects. This marks one of the first major integrations of Google Veo 3 into a design platform, and it comes just weeks after Google first debuted the model at I/O 2025. For many creators, AI-generated video has been powerful but hard to use and even harder to afford for casual users. Veo 3 and Google Flow is part of the Ultra package, which is $249/month. By bringing Veo 3 into Canva's all-in-one platform, video creation is now as accessible as generating AI images or graphics. As part of the press announcement, Canva says this is part of its 'multi-model' approach, aimed at putting AI-powered design tools into a single workflow. It also shows how fast AI video generation is evolving: the fact that users can now create polished, brandable video clips — with audio — in just a few clicks would have seemed impossible a year ago. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Create a Video Clip is now live inside Canva AI. Just select it from the homepage or sidebar, type your prompt and start generating. Video generations take a little under 2 minutes. The feature is limited to five generations per month at launch, but Canva says more capacity is coming. It's also rolling out across for paid users on that platform. As with Canva's other AI tools, this one is backed by Canva Shield, the company's trust and safety system for AI content. AI-generated video is moving fast. With Veo 3 now built into Canva, creating short, cinematic-quality clips just got a lot easier. Whether you're making content for social media, marketing a business or having fun with your own personal projects, take it from someone who has tested Veo 3 extensively, this is one AI video tool worth trying.

Amusement park guests told to keep mouths shut on rides due to cicada swarms
Cicada Brood 14 has emerged in parts of the eastern U.S., and they're causing quite a stir. Visitors to Kings Island Amusement and Waterpark in Mason, Ohio, were recently advised to keep their mouths closed on rides to prevent a close encounter with a flying cicada. A series of viral videos shows guests swatting and running away from cicadas at Kings Island. Their loud chirps dominate the scene. "They literally land on you and fly into your face!" TikTok user Kyla Renee Carter said in a video upload caption. Local media reports the cicadas are "covering" every tree in the area, and their noises are drowning out the sounds of the rides. TikTok user Brittanyhunter273 said cicada activity seems to die down at the park after 5 p.m., making evenings the best time to visit. periodical cicadas are here. welcome brood xiv — emmrich volkarin's wife guy (@feedorahe) June 11, 2025 Dr. Gene Kritsky from Mount St. Joseph University told WCPO Brood 14 has "history" in the region, having first been spotted by the pilgrims in 1634. A cicada brood represents a group of periodical cicadas that emerge en masse in a certain area after spending the first 13 or 17 years underground. This particular brood has a 17-year life cycle. An emergence typically lasts between 4 and 6 weeks. During that time, cicadas shed their exoskeleton, mate, lay eggs, and then die. The cycle then repeats. The last time Brood 14 emerged was in 2008. We'll see them again in 2042. Header image: Created by Cheryl Santa Maria for The Weather Network using elements from Canva Pro.
