DM cracks whip on absent officials, orders salary halt

Varanasi: District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Saturday took strong action against absent officials during a review meeting on CM Dashboard development work. Irked by their absence, he ordered the withholding of salaries and issuance of show-cause notices. Singh directed that the salary of the Executive Engineer of PMGSY and the District Minorities Welfare Officer be stopped. A show-cause notice was also issued to the Project Manager of the Bridge Corporation for failing to attend the meeting. In the same meeting, the District Magistrate instructed officials to increase the number of Aadhaar centres in the district from 262 to 500. He said that expanding Aadhaar services would facilitate easy updates to personal details such as address, name, mobile number, photographs, and biometrics. Reviewing construction projects exceeding Rs 1 crore, Singh emphasized timely completion and directed that any issues arising during execution be immediately reported to him or the Chief Development Officer on a daily basis. Expressing dissatisfaction over slow progress in the Family ID initiative, Singh warned the Social Welfare Officer, Disabled Persons Officer, District Probation Officer, DC MNREGA, DD Agriculture, and Basic Education Officer that failure to meet the June target would result in the suspension of their June salary. During the review of the Chief Minister's Rural Housing Scheme and the NIPUN Examination Assessment, Singh noted that the district's ranking stood at 'D'. He directed all concerned departments to improve the performance and achieve an 'A' grade by June 31, 2025. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Shravasti tops grievance redressal index for May

Lucknow: Shravasti district emerged top among districts in the resolution of public grievances in May. The rankings released by the CM Dashboard and the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) show that Shahjahanpur is second, followed by Amethi in the third position. "Govt receives complaints through various platforms like IGRS, CM Helpline, at tehsil and DM offices, etc. With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally monitoring the system, there was a marked decline in the number of unresolved complaints, as reflected in the May 2025 rankings," said a govt spokesperson. Shravasti district magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that a structured strategy was adopted in the district to ensure timely redressal of complaints. Public hearings are conducted every day at 10 am, followed by continuous monitoring of the complaint redressal throughout the day. Pending cases are reviewed at 5 pm and cases where the complainant was dissatisfied with the resolution are assessed at 9 pm. "With all officials treating grievance redressal as a priority, Shravasti consistently ranked among the top five districts in timely and high-quality grievance resolution," he said, adding that the district scored 137 out of 140 points in the May IGRS report, with a resolution rate of 97.86%. Other top performers include Shahjahanpur in the second spot with a 95.71% resolution, Amethi third with 94.29%, Hamirpur fourth with 94.29%, and Ambedkar Nagar fifth with 89.29%. "These districts not only resolved complaints within the stipulated time but also ensured high standards in solution quality. The sixth to tenth ranks were secured by Hathras, Azamgarh, Chandauli, Mainpuri and Siddharthnagar, respectively," the official added.

‘CM Dashboard' launched by Siddaramaiah for development monitoring in Karnataka

The Chief Minister's Dashboard (CM Dashboard), a platform that provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka, was launched on Friday. It was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of all districts and CEOs of all zilla panchayats at the State Secretariat here. The dashboard, developed in-house by the Centre for e-Governance (CeG), is now functionally complete and hosted under the domain 'This platform provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka, enabling data-driven governance and decision-making at the highest level,' an official release said. Integrated system The dashboard is built using a microservices-based architecture, ensuring scalability and ease of integration. The data is integrated via APIs (application programming interface) from various departments, eliminating manual entry, said the release. The dashboard categorises State performance data into four primary sectors: economic growth (e.g., investments and beneficiaries), legal/judiciary management (RTI and Sakala case disposals), infrastructure development (roads, irrigation, and renewable energy), and citizen-centric governance (guarantee schemes and Janaspandana). The Chief Minister, during the launch, told respective officials to remain in the taluk and district headquarters to address the grievances of the public. The district in-charge Secretaries were instructed to visit their respective districts twice a month for review of development works. He also told them to pay surprise visits to schools, hostels, and hospitals and submit reports to the Chief Secretary. Referring to Indira Canteens, the Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioners to commence delivery of food at all canteens which have buildings within a week. Out of 186 new Indira Canteens, construction of 103 had been completed. Food is being delivered at only 43 canteens. On farmer suicides The Chief Minister reviewed the district-wise data of farmer suicides and took to task officials for the delay in the release of compensation in 13 cases. Dissatisfied with the delay in the recovery of encroached tank-bed areas, the Chief Minister told officials to undertake the survey work immediately and recover the encroached tank-bed areas. Out of 10,931 encroached tanks, officials have recovered 6,065 tank- bed areas.
