We asked 12 beauty experts to spill on their favourite beauty buys – some cost £450, others just £2

Some of the experts' picks will surprise you... Save Vs Splurge We asked 12 beauty experts to spill on their favourite beauty buys – some cost £450, others just £2 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IN the wise words of Jessie J, it's not about the money where beauty buying is concerned. In fact, more than a third of Boots Advantage Card members shopped for both budget-friendly make-up and premium cosmetics in 2024, focusing their attention not on how much products costs but on what really works - not something that's always easy to work out. To find out where we should be spending our money, and what products we can save on, we asked 10 industry experts for their favourite budget beauty product, and the one they will shell out for. Tara Ledden, Beauty Editor 32 These are the products Beauty Editor Tara Ledden buys again and again Credit: Tara Ledden I'm a huge fan of high street beauty, as there are so many brilliant products lining the shelves today, you really don't have to spend loads to arm yourself with hard-working products. However, if I'm going to splurge, it's almost always on skincare. BUDGET BUY 32 This multi-tasking spray is a hair saviour Credit: Arkive ARKIVE The Prologue Hair Primer, £4.50 I talk about ARKIVE The Prologue Hair Primer, £4.50, on an almost daily basis. In fact, when I told Beauty Writer Mia that I was going to make it my budget pick, she replied: "I knew it!" immediately. It's super lightweight, yet it still dissolves tangles and manages to leave hair noticeably softer and more shiny - while also protecting it from heat - without leaving any residue behind. It's impossible to use too much, so if you have fine hair like me, you don't need to worry about it feeling dirty or limp. BLOWOUT BEAUTY 32 This moisturiser is worth the splurge Credit: Tatcha Tatcha The Silk Cream, £123 I discovered Tatcha The Silk Cream, £123, in the Fabulous beauty cupboard over two years ago and started slathering it on my face. Within days, I was getting compliments on how good my skin looked, including one from a fellow beauty editor well versed in my history of acne, who exclaimed: "Your skin looks like porcelain!" before we'd even said hello. I'd used it for a week before I googled the price, and I instantly started using a tiny pea-sized amount to try to make the tub last longer, thinking I'd never be able to justify a repurchase. Unfortunately for my bank balance, I've not found a cheaper moisturiser that compares, and have since re-stocked multiple times. Jamie Genevieve, make-up artist and founder of Vieve 32 These are the products Jamie Genevieve swears by Credit: Jamie Genevieve As a make-up artist, it doesn't get more fun than testing and trying new make-up launches. Furious shoppers slam Sainsbury's for quietly hiking price of its meal deal AGAIN

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SAINSBURY'S has hiked the price of its lunchtime meal deal by 20p. The popular midday lunch bundle has gone from £3.75 to £3.95, causing upset among its workers and customers. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The supermarket has increased the price of its popular meal deal to almost £4 Shoppers have already spotted the hike, with one person writing on X: "Sainsburys meal deal gone up to £3.90 we are in the end times." Another said: "Had to do a double take when I saw the price increase." A third said the supermarket was "sneaking" the price up. Another added: "This is not a drill - Sainsbury's meal deals have been upped again and are £3.95 - it was £3.75 before today." A fifth shopper said: "Why TF was my Sainsbury's meal deal £3.95 - should we all just give up?" Sainsbury's staff were also complaining on Reddit. One posted: "Wow saw that the meal deal has gone up to £3.95. Did anyone else know beforehand or did my managers fail to inform us this was happening?" Another added: "Honestly I just tend not to eat at work anymore. Eatings too expensive." A third said: "Saw it last night , funny , we all said it's packed lunch then , we will still buy it , because we still struggle to wake up for work." The change comes less than a year after Sainsbury's last hiked the price of its meal deal. Save with secret codes The supermarket's meal deal went up in July 2024 from £3.50 to £3.75. Shoppers said at the time the sudden price hike was "sneaky". The price of the more expensive Premium meal deal has not changed from £5. Customers can choose a combination of a main, a side and a drink. Popular choices include sandwiches, a piece of fruit or bag of crisps and a Diet Coke or Lipton Ice Tea. The supermarket recently introduced 35 new products into its meal deal range, including the option to build your own salad. A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: "With millions of possible combinations, we continue to offer one of the best value meal deals around. "We've also recently introduced a range of new products just in time for summer, including our best-seller Picnic Triple Sandwich and build your own salad options. "This means anyone who shops with us can choose from an affordable selection of over 150 mains, 300 snacks and 400 drinks." How do other supermarkets compare? The Sun recently looked at how much a meal deal will set you back at different shops. Even with the price increase, the Sainsbury's meal deal is still - just about - among the cheapest options. The most expensive meal deal comes from Waitrose, which charges £5. Boots, Co-op, Morrisons and Tesco all charge £4 if you don't use their loyalty cards. If you have a Boots Advantage Card, the deal is £3.60. You can get a meal deal for the same price at Tesco if you have a Clubcard. If you're a Co-op member you can get the lunchtime deal for £3.50. Morrisons More Card holders can get the meal deal for £3.60. Some of these supermarkets have also increased the price of their meal deals recently. Tesco put its prices up from £3.40 to £3.60 for Clubcard members in August last year.

The savvy shopper could not believe their luck after picking up the baby essential for nothing. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The shopper got her hands on the baby product for free Credit: Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Writing on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group, they said: "Check your Boots Advantage card if you're in the parent and toddler group. "You can get a pack of size 2 or 3 pampers nappies." But many fellow shoppers were confused about how to find the offer or why it was not available to them. Boots has a free parent club for Boots Advantage Card holders who are expecting a baby or have children under 5. The scheme offers benefits like extra points on baby products and free gifts. You also get eight Advantage Card points for every £1 spent on baby products. But customers can also get personalised offers such as freebies and discounts on products they buy frequently. To find the exclusive offers that are available, you need to log into the Boots Advantage Card app. You should be able to see personalised offers in the "My offers" section of the app. These deals can then be redeemed in a Boots store. The programme also gives free gifts at key stages of your baby's development and parenting advice. They can also enjoy a free slice of cake, pastry or a fruit pot, every week when you buy a hot drink at a M&S cafe.

Boots announces new reward scheme in more than 800 stores across the UK

Boots is set to be rolling out a new reward scheme in more than 800 of its UK stores in response to customer demand. People will soon be able to recycle blister packs from any brand in the relevant stores. Those who have a Boots Advantage Card will receive a reward of 100 Advantage Card points – or £1 – every time they hand in five empty blister packs in one deposit and spend £5 in-store. After the blister packs or other empty health and beauty containers have been dropped off at Boots stores, they are sent to MYGroup, who separate the plastic and the foil. Blister packs cannot typically be recycled through household kerbside collections (Image: Getty Images) Blister packs cannot typically be recycled through household kerbside collections because of their combination of plastic and foil. This makes them complicated to process, meaning they usually go to landfill or incineration. MYGroup will be able to turn the recycled plastic into a material called MYBoardTM. This has a wide range of uses such as playground equipment, furniture, and construction materials. Meanwhile, the foil taken from the blister packs can be immediately reused. Candice Smith, from Boots, said: 'Taking medicines or vitamins in blister pack packaging is an essential part of everyday life for many of us – even more so during the winter when it is peak cough, cold season. Recommended reading: Aldi insider shares the secrets of one of its most popular aisles Aldi selling dupe of discontinued Cadbury chocolate which has shoppers 'buzzing' Morrisons introduces new feature to all its cafes to improve accessibility 'We know from our pilot scheme that people want a recycling solution for their empty blister packs, which is why we're now making it available in towns and cities across the country. 'We look forward to seeing the recycled blister packs take on a new life as playground equipment and furniture.' Boots joins other retailers including Superdrug and Aldi in running blister pack recycling initiatives.
