Connah's Quay Nomads have sacked head coach Billy Paynter after they failed to reach the Cymru Premier play-offs. Nomads were beaten 2-0 at home by Barry Town United, who secured the seventh spot and a place in the play-offs. Paynter, a former player with Leeds United, Port Vale and Swindon, was appointed in August 2024 on a two-year deal after the departure of Neil Gibson. Nomads, who won the Welsh Cup last season and face The New Saints in this season's final next month, failed to make the top six for the second half of the season.
