Too hot to sleep? These are the top 3 cooling mattress deals to shop this weekend
Summer days are fun but sweaty summer nights? No, thanks. If you've been struggling to sleep recently, no matter how high you crank up the AC, it might be worth asking yourself how long you've been using your current mattress. A worn-out mattress is more like to hold on to heat as materials break down through use, restricting airflow and limiting their ability to regulate temperature effectively. Plus, older mattresses likely won't feature the latest cooling technology developed to keep you cool all night long. There's extra savings at Bear right now, the maker of our best cooling mattress of the year; the Bear Elite Hybrid. We rate this as the number one mattress for hot sleepers thanks to its innovative cooling technology, customizable firmness and hint of luxury. But we have more modest budgets covered too, with affordable cooling mattress options from Zinus and Brooklyn Bedding. At least one of our team will be sleeping on the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid mattress to stay cool over the summer. We're gearing up towards 4th of July mattress sales and are seeing some early discounts drop. With that in mind, here are the top cooling mattresses to shop this weekend... 1. Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress: twin was $1,998 now $1,299 at BearThe 14-inch, five-layer Bear Elite Hybrid is the crème de la crème of cooling mattresses, packed with innovative cooling tech like a quilted cover made with heat-conducting Phase Change Material, an airy coil layer and, the option of a Celliant-infused cover (for which you will need to pay an extra fee starting from $163). This cover features Celliant fibers that absorb body heat and convert it into energy, which is then reflected back to the body, according to Bear, to aid recovery and improve sleep quality. Plus, the Elite Hybrid comes in three different firmness levels to suit various sleep styles and body types. There's usually at least 30% off in Bear mattress sales, and now that discount has risen to 35% as 4th of July deals approach. This means you snap up a queen with the Celliant upgrade for $1,773 (was $2,727) and save up to $1,673 on a split king (including the Celliant cover). Yes it's a premium price, but it's money well spent if it means the end of sleepless, sweaty nights. Plus, you benefit from a limited lifetime warranty and a 120-night sleep trial, and your new bed will be delivered for free in 3 to 7 days. 2. Ultra Cooling Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress: full was $799 now $449.10 at ZinusThis is a great bed for budget shoppers looking for reliable cooling relief. The 12" Ultra Cooling Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is the most advanced cooling offering from the brand that makes the popular Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress. It includes cooling gel-infused memory foam with 7 Zone Comfort Technology that increases airflow and a heat-wicking, cool-to-touch Instant Cool cover. Price and quality-wise, the Zinus is comparable to the Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress (our best budget cooling bed of the year). Zinus sales ensure its line-up always falls into the best budget mattress category and you'll never have to pay full MSRP. There's currently up to 40% off the Zinus Ultra Cooling mattress and you can enter the code JULY10 at checkout for an extra 10% off. This means a queen size will set you back $539.10 (was $999), amounting to a $459.90 saving if you shop now — a super competitive price. While you can always score a great deal this extra 10% saving is an added reason to shop now. 3. Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Mattress: twin memory foam was $732 now $549 at Brooklyn BeddingAvailable in a memory foam or hybrid build, Brooklyn Bedding designed the CopperFlex Pro with 'affordable luxury' in mind, and it certainly has cooling capabilities to match more expensive beds. It features a copper-infused memory foam and a GlacioTex cover infused with thermal conducting fibers that work together to draw heat away from both the mattress surface and your body (and the hybrid option has up to 760 8" coils to help with airflow). You can almost always strike a good deal in Brooklyn Bedding mattress sales. Right now, there's 25% off sitewide, cutting a queen memory foam to $798.75 (was $1,065) and a queen hybrid to $999 (was $1,332). It's not the cheapest we've ever seen it (we saw a 30% discount during Memorial Day sales), but it's still outstanding value on a cooling mattress of this quality. And you'll get free delivery, a 120-night trial and a limited lifetime warranty included.

Sweet Moment Rescue Dog Steps Up to Help her Blind Brother Find His Ball
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A video showing the moment a blind dog struggled to find his ball, only for his sister to step in and help him, has melted hearts online. Bear the mastiff and Staffordshire bull terrier mix simply loves playing fetch and chasing after his toys outside. That can prove challenging, however, as Bear is completely blind and sometimes struggles to locate the objects. Thankfully, his protective canine sister, named Peach, is more than happy to step in and be his eyes. Their owner, Paige Parker, 30, told Newsweek that Peach "often helps Bear if he's struggling" to find his toys or find his way back during a walk. On this occasion, Peach walked outside to where Bear was and stood near his ball until he was able to sniff it out. "I threw the ball for Bear, and, because it was a windy day with an overload of smells, he struggled to find it," Parker, of Adelaide, Australia, said. "Bear looked for a couple minutes before running up to Peach, who was sitting on the couch outside. She instantly knew what he wanted because she had been watching him." From left: Bear struggles to find his ball outside, only for Peach to stand beside it and help him locate it. In just a matter of days, the video has generated over 263,000 views and more than 41,500 likes at the time of writing. Bear's blindness is caused by complications his mom suffered during pregnancy. She had to have a Caesarean, and out of her eight puppies, Bear was the only one who survived. After he started nursing, it became clear that his mom had an infection, which passed down to Bear, affecting his eyes. "His eyes started to bulge when he was still at the rescue, so they fundraised to get them removed when he was a pup," Parker said. She adopted Bear from the rescue Hear No Evil when he was 5 months old, while Peach is also a rescue who came from Life of Pikelet. Bear has learned to use his sense of smell to guide him, whether that is to find Peach, his toys, or his bed. Parker said that he has developed a map of their home in his mind by using smell, memory, and the change in floors to help him navigate. They two dogs have developed an extraordinary bond that enables Peach to know exactly what Bear needs, and it allows him to rely on his sister whenever he is stuck. Parker said: "Sometimes, Bear can get stressed if he smells something unusual, and Peach will go up to him and nudge him so he calms down instantly. We walk them both off lead, and if it's windy and he's struggling to hear us, she will run up to him and they walk back together. "They bonded instantly, and it felt like he had always been part of our family. They have never had a fight, and we love seeing them together cuddling, playing, and hanging out," the dogs' owner added. After sharing the video of Peach helping Bear find his ball, Parker has been blown away by supportive response online. She said she hopes it will encourage more people to consider adopting a blind or deaf dog, telling Newsweek that they aren't nearly as difficult to care for as people might think, and they can still live such fulfilling lives. The viral TikTok video has amassed over 1,000 comments already, as many social-media users praised the adorable bond that Peach and Bear have. One comment reads: "I was so sad for him until his beautiful sister came to the rescue. Oh my heart!" Another TikTok user wrote: "too cute to have a guide from his big sister." A third commenter added: "This is the most precious thing ever." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? We want to see the best ones! ‘Hopefully next year sometime': Springsteen hints at Aussie tour
Rock legend Bruce Springsteen has hinted at a return to Australia with the E Street Band next year. Springsteen is currently on tour in Europe with the July 3 show at Milan's famous San Siro stadium set to draw a line under more than two years on the road. 'I'm doing my best as we speak to get down there, hopefully next year some time,' he told Rolling Stone. 'I feel bad. I apologise to my Australian fans for not getting down [there] on this stretch, but I want them to know that we are planning to get down there as soon as feasible, probably in the next year sometime.' The Springsteen and E Street Band 2023-25 tour, rebranded as the Land of Hope and Dreams tour for the current European leg, began in February 2023 in Florida. It was the band's first date since 2017, the longer than usual lay-off caused initially by the Springsteen on Broadway solo performances and then the COVID-19 pandemic. The final leg of that tour was in Australia and New Zealand, bringing to an end a fertile period for local fans after three visits in four years, the same amount as the preceding four decades. 'We had been off for six years,' Springsteen, who will next week release Tracks II: The Lost Albums — a collection of seven full-length, previously unheard albums — said. 'I had to get back in touch with my audience, and it was fun playing with the band. In the future, I think we'll probably play more often and less dates.' Earlier this week, fans got their first look at the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and with a release date in October, it looks like it's priming for an Oscar campaign. The Bear's Jeremy Allen White will play Springsteen as a young man on the verge of superstardom as he sets off to make his seminal record Nebraska, which he recorded from his bedroom on a four-track. It's a formative moment in his artistry, as he contends with his changed fortunes, recognition and reconciling his sometimes-painful childhood. The trailer features clips of White as The Boss as well as Jeremy Strong as producer and manager Jon Landau, Australian actor Odessa Young as love interest Faye, Paul Walter Hauser as engineer Mike Batlan, and David Krumholtz as a music executive. There are also black-and-white flashbacks to his younger days, with Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffman playing Springsteen's parents. First trailer for new Bruce Springsteen biopic released
First trailer for new Bruce Springsteen biopic released Actor Jeremy Allen White plays the role of the Boss Jeremy Allen White The first trailer for the much anticipated new Bruce Springsteen biopic has been released – with actor Jeremy Allen White in the role of the Boss. The Bear star plays a young Springsteen in Deliver Me From Nowhere, which chronicles the musician making his 1982 album Nebraska – featuring the singles Atlantic City, My Father's House and State Trooper. The trailer shows short excerpts from the film, many of them with him playing guitar. The first scene of the trailer shows a car dealer telling Springsteen's character: "I do know who you are." A solemn-looking Springsteen answers: "Well, that makes one of us." Flashbacks show Springsteen as a young boy with his father, played by British actor Stephen Graham. The film, from 20th Century Studios, is due to be released in cinemas on October 24. Article continues below The cast also features Succession actor Jeremy Strong as Springsteen's long-time mentor and manager, Jon Landau, Cruella star Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, and Mothering Sunday actress Odessa Young as love interest Faye. Nebraska pre-dated 1984's Born In The USA, the title of one of 75-year-old Springsteen's most known songs, and came after his 1975 breakthrough record Born To Run. Director Scott Cooper, who wrote the script based on the book Deliver Me from Nowhere by Warren Zanes, said: "Making Springsteen was deeply moving as it allowed me to step inside the soul of an artist I've long admired – and to witness, up close, the vulnerability and strength behind his music. Article continues below "The experience felt like a journey through memory, myth, and truth. And more than anything, it was a privilege to translate that raw emotional honesty to the screen, and in doing so, it changed me. I cannot thank Bruce and Jon Landau enough for allowing me to tell their story." White has led all three seasons of hit drama The Bear, winning two Emmys and two Golden Globes for his role as chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. He is also known for playing Phillip Ronan "Lip" Gallagher in the US version of Shameless, and wrestler Kerry Von Erich in The Iron Claw.
