Report – 19-year-old La Masia talent set to be Barcelona's third-choice goalkeeper next season
With FC Barcelona securing the signing of Joan Garcia, it will set off a chain reaction in the goalkeeping department – a domino effect of necessary decisions, including some difficult ones. Garcia has signed with Barcelona until 2031 and will be installed as the first-choice goalkeeper in all likelihood, which puts incumbent Marc-Andre ter Stegen in a difficult position. Advertisement The Blaugrana, for their part, are prepared to offload the German international with Wojciech Szczesny, renewal pending, expected to take up the second-choice role. Diego Kochen to be the third choice? Inaki Pena is also on his way out, in search of regular game-time, having fallen out of favour this season. As such, SPORT reports that the responsibility of being the third-choice goalkeeper in the Barcelona first team is expected to fall on Diego Kochen. Though the American did not have a standout season with Barça Atletic, the Blaugrana still consider him a strong long-term prospect. Kochen to be Garcia, Szczesny's understudy. (Photo by) Advertisement Kochen featured 16 times for the reserve team this term, conceding 26 goals in the process as they ended up getting relegated from the RFEF Primera Division. At 19, though, the American talent is still developing. While a loan is not completely ruled out, he is expected to serve as the third-choice keeper this season. If Kochen progresses and proves reliable, he could move up to the second-choice role next year once Szczesny's contract expires. The teenage shot-stopper's contract with Barcelona runs until 2028 and will hope to make an impression on Hansi Flick & co. so as to earn a promotion next year. Meanwhile, Aron Yaakobishvili is likely to take over the mantle of the starting goalkeeper for Barça Atletic with Ander Astralaga expected to leave on loan.

La Masia product breaks silence after Barcelona exit – ‘Looking forward to a change of scenery'
Earlier today, FC Barcelona confirmed that promising La Masia midfielder Aleix Garrido has left the club after spending 13 seasons. The 21-year-old prospect was the captain of the Barça Atletic this season but could not help them avoid relegation from the RFEF Primera Division. Advertisement With Garrido's contract expiring on June 30, the youngster, who made his first-team debut for Barcelona in 2023 under Xavi Hernandez, decided to move onto a new challenge. As such, having left Barcelona for free, the La Masia product has signed for Eibar in La Liga 2, penning a three-year contract. Aleix Garrido opens up after exit Following his move to Eibar from Barcelona, Garrido has now opened up on what this move means for his career. 'For me, it's a big change because I've been at Barça for many years. It's the end of a chapter and I'm looking forward to a change of scenery and to experience football much more professionally and to wear this shirt,' Garrido said. Continuing, the 21-year-old starlet added: 'The second division is something I haven't played in yet and it motivates me a lot to develop myself as a footballer. Eibar is a perfect place. Advertisement 'I'm happy, I'm happy to join this family. It's going to be a great year and I'm motivated, I'm keen to get out of my comfort zone.' Garrido has struggled with several physical issues over the past two seasons, particularly with a metatarsal injury. As such, he saw his chances of breaking into the first team as extremely limited. In fact, Hansi Flick did not call him up to the first team even once during this campaign, instead turning to younger players like Guille Fernandez, Toni Fernandez, and Unai Hernandez. The 21-year-old prospect, thus, will be hoping to hit the ground running and live up to his potential after joining Eibar.

Barcelona rubbing their hands as youngster's value shoots up following impressive displays at U19 Euros
Barcelona rubbing their hands as youngster's value shoots up following impressive displays at U19 Euros Barcelona youngster Noah Darvich is making headlines once again, but not necessarily for his performances in Spain. While the 18-year-old midfielder has seen limited action with Barça Atletic, his stock continues to rise, especially after a standout performance in the U19 European Championship for Germany. Advertisement In a thrilling 5-5 draw against England, Darvich was one of the standout players on the pitch. He registered a goal and an assist, and his overall numbers were equally impressive. The German midfielder completed 92% of his passes, maintained 100% accuracy on long runs and crosses, and showed the kind of composure and quality rarely seen at his age. Rising stocks His display did not go unnoticed, with reports from SPORT suggesting that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are both keeping a close eye on his situation. Despite not featuring much at club level in the youth academy, Darvich has been an important figure every time he has put on the German shirt, and that hasn't gone unnoticed by first-team manager Hansi Flick, who is said to rate the youngster very highly. Uncertain future at Barça Despite his promise, Darvich's future at Barcelona is uncertain. The club's midfield is already stacked, and breaking into the first team will be no easy task, especially with names like Pedri, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong ahead of him. Advertisement That, along with his limited involvement in Barça Atletic, has sparked rumours of a possible exit this summer. Barcelona, however, are not planning to let him go without a transfer fee. The teenager joined the Catalans from Freiburg for a fee of €2.5 million, and the club believes that his current performances could help them recoup that amount or even earn a profit if he is sold. As things stand, Darvich has a contract until 2026, but the coming weeks could prove decisive. Whether he stays or leaves, it is clear that his talent is attracting serious attention across Europe.
