'Dream come true' for singer going to Glastonbury

A singer-songwriter says it is a "dream come true" to be performing at Glastonbury. Fiona-Lee, 24, from Howden, East Yorkshire, has been chosen to play at one of the world's biggest music festivals on 26 June. She will perform six songs from her debut EP Nothing Compares to Nineteen on the BBC Introducing stage, alongside several other new British artists. "I've never even been to the festival so the fact that I'm playing is absolutely mental," she said. Fiona said she grew up listening to bands such as Pink Floyd, Kings of Leon and Fleetwood Mac. At the age of 14, Fiona started to teach herself guitar, spending her lunch hours in the music room, even skipping some lessons to pursue her interest. While she described herself as "very shy" in school, she discovered her passion for performing during her first open mic night at the School of Rock in Goole when she was 15. "The reaction from everyone was so nice and positive and it felt so good. "That was the moment I realised it was what I wanted to do and it was such a buzz," she said. She went on to perform in Hull at the age of 17 when she first started to get into the city's music scene. Fiona found out she would be performing at Glastonbury during a gig with BBC Introducing at the end of May. When she was informed on stage, she said she was "just in shock". "Afterwards I ran into the control room and just started jumping up and down and just burst into tears. "All of the presenters could see me through the glass. It was really overwhelming and just made my day," she said. She added: "I'm bringing one of my best mates and it's going to be the best weekend ever." Steve and Bev, Fiona's parents said they were "chuffed" to hear she would be performing at Glastonbury. "Years ago we would be somewhat taken aback at open mic nights. "After Fi had played her set, strangers would come up to congratulate us, shake our hands and enthuse about her. "We would hold our hands up and say that it had nothing to do with us, it's just her," they said. Fiona will also be headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at the Humber Street Festival at Hull Marina in August. Perrie Edwards reveals return to the stage after kickstarting her solo career as she announces she will perform at huge sporting event

Perrie Edwards has revealed she is returning to the stage after kickstarting her solo career, with the singer set to perform at The Hundred Final. The former Little Mix star, 31, will take to the stage at Lord's on August 31 to bring the annual sporting event, which kicks off on August 5, to a close. Perrie's debut solo single Forget About Us stormed into the UK top 10 last year, and she gushed she's planning to bring 'the whole shebang' to her upcoming performance. The Hundred is set to enter its fifth year with this year's tournament, bringing live music and DJs to every fixture from emerging talent and established stars across eight host cities. 'I'm bringing the whole shebang – dancers, great tunes and amazing staging – everything!' she said. 'An electric crowd, amazing sport in a truly iconic venue: I can't think of a better Sunday night. 'I'll be doing everything I can to help make this a truly unforgettable occasion. Performing for this crowd at the Final will be an incredible experience. See you there!' For the fifth year running, The Hundred has curated its music line-up in collaboration with BBC Introducing. The partnership supports unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar artists from across the UK, providing a platform to perform at some of the UK's biggest cricket grounds. It comes after Perrie admitted she fears she 'might die' as she opened up about her ongoing battle with panic disorder. In an interview on Alison Hammond 's Big Weekend, Perrie invited the presenter into her home and spoke openly about how anxiety has affected her everyday life. Perrie said: 'I've developed panic disorder. So it's the fear of having a panic attack. A few years ago, I started suffering from severe panic attacks. 'I then developed a fear of having one again because I was like, if I'm on my own and have a panic attack, I might die, and nobody will be here to help.' She candidly added: 'That's why I'm never on my own. Never. I'm always with somebody. I don't like the feeling of feeling like I'm gonna die.' Last year, the star also shared insight into the challenges of being a solo artist, after releasing her third single You Go Your Own Way following her debut single Forget About Us and Tears. She told MailOnline: 'It's actually nothing like I expected it to be.' 'It's just different. I just feel like the industry is very different at the moment. The way we work is very different and the way we promote it is very different. 'And that's not saying that it's not good or not bad it's just not used to being in the band but like I said, I just love singing, I love making music and creating and all that process is the best part ever.' Asked about the high and lows of the job, she confirmed she still loves being on stage more than anything else. 'Definitely being able to just sing and perform like nothing makes me happier than being on stage,' gushed Perrie. She then added: 'But then also, it's harder to start from scratch and I'm not going to get to that place any time soon so it's hard work to get me there, you know, I just want to be on the big stage.'

The day after her breakup, skilled skydiver ‘chooses' not to open her parachute 10,000 feet above ground

A day after her breakup, Jade Damarell, a skilled skydiver, 'chose' not to open her parachute 10,000 feet above ground and fell to her death in Caerphilly, South Wales. According to a Mirror report, Jade's death was initially assumed to be a tragic accident, but the SkyHigh Skydiving, the skydiving company she was associated with, said they suspected her death to have been 'a deliberate act'. Later, it became known that Jade, 32, had broken up with her boyfriend Ben Goodfellow, 26, the day before her fatal skydive. Jade had been dating Ben, a fellow skydiving enthusiast, for nearly eight months after her split from her ex-husband. According to MailOnline, they had been living together in a property near the airfield, rented specifically for parachutists. According to a Mirror report, Jade, a keen skydiver who had jumped around 80 times this year, deliberately failed to open her parachute as she plunged at speeds of more than 120mph. The fatal skydive was marked 'non-suspicious' after the police discovered a note disclosing her intentions. Jade's friend also confirmed that the incident 'wasn't a skydiving accident'. Her friend said that they believe Jade intended to take her life. 'She skydived with someone else, broke off and turned onto her back and impacted. She chose not to open her parachute, and she landed on her back,' they said The friend also shared that the night before Jade's death, Ben had ended their relationship. He reportedly went to work the following day, during which time the tragedy occurred. Police and emergency services were called to a nearby farm, where she landed, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. One person is believed to have witnessed the horror. Ben Goodfellow is a Nissan technician and the lead singer and guitarist for the Sunderland-based indie band Post Rome, whose music has been featured on BBC Introducing. Following the incident, the band cancelled a scheduled performance, citing 'unforeseen circumstances.' Jade's friend described their bond as extremely close and said Jade was 'completely devastated' by the breakup, despite the fact that it was not the first time the couple had hit a rough patch. 'They were inseparable. They did everything together and didn't really interact much with others. They often went skydiving as a pair,' the friend said, adding that Jade and Ben had been living together since Christmas and had been dating for a few months before that. 'Jade had ended things with Ben on previous occasions, but Saturday was the first time he ended it with her. Ben is a quiet person - he's completely devastated by what's happened,' the friend added.
