As he strolled on the sidewalk, the "As It Was" singer wore AirPods and carried a yellow bag, seemingly in an attempt to blend in and avoid the paparazzi. Check out the recent snaps of Styles here! For comparison, here's what fans are used to seeing Styles. Styles has taken a step back from the spotlight since finishing up his popular Love On Tour in July 2023. Harry Styles spotted dancing up a storm at London music festival
Harry Styles is not missing out on this year's selection of incredible music festival headliners, even if he's not back on stage just yet. The As It Was hitmaker, 31, has been taking time away from the recording studio after the success of his Love On Tour in 2023. His last on-stage performance was in July last year, making a surprise appearance to duet with headliner Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park. On Saturday, he dipped his toe back into the music world and headed to Victoria Park to watch Jamie XX perform at Lido Festival. Possibly, he was warming up his dancing shoes ahead of a secret set at Worthy Farm — or just heading to the festival for fun. Fans won't know until Glastonbury kicks off in three weeks, but Harry looked incredibly happy dancing the night away with friends at Lido. Somehow, the star had managed to get himself right to the barricade without anyone noticing. The One Direction heartthrob rocked a low-key look including a blue cap, a windbreaker and a jumper to protect against the rainy London weather. Dancing in the busy crowd appeared to get Harry a little hot and sweaty as he ditched his jumper to reveal a grey t-shirt with a smiley face on it. While the Watermelon Sugar singer is known for his bold on-stage looks, however, he keeps his street style far less flamboyant (other than the short shorts). Lido Festival was packed for Jamie XX's headlining slot, which was supported by acts such as Sampha, Romy, Skrillex and Nia Archives. Fans were loving Harry's gig-going antics on social media with Moondancerry writing on X: I love that Harry Styles is just living his best life during this break and we get these small glimpses into that🥹.' His break has included a baffling side quest to the Vatican City when he was spotted in the crowd waiting for smoke to confirm the new Pope. On May 8, the papal conclave in the Vatican chose the new Pope, and white smoke began billowing out of the Sistine Chapel. A bell marked the election of Robert Francis Prevost as the new Pope, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Another side quest saw Harry speedily run the Tokyo marathon, placing 6010 out of approximately 38,000. More Trending Mainly, he has been seen around London, where he owns a house, catching up with friends and soaking up the sun in some very tiny shorts. As for Lido Festival, the gigs continue across the next month with sets from Turnstile, London Grammar, and the Brat icon herself Charli XCX. Charli is dominating festival season along with Chappell Roan as both pop icons take over Primavera Sound with Sabrina Carpenter. The Apple hitmaker will head to Worthy Farm later this month while Chappell plays Sziget Festival as well as Reading and Leeds in August. Got a story? All the clues and theories about who Glastonbury's mystery Patchwork band is
Metro confirmed recently Patchwork – billed to perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival – is not a 'geriatric' band from South London of the same name… You're welcome. So the question remains: who the hell is it? For the uninitiated, the Glastonbury 2025 line-up with all the stage times dropped yesterday, three weeks before the Worthy Farm opens its gates for another year for headline shows by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo. Listed in the primetime slot of 6.15pm on Saturday June 28 on the coveted Pyramid Stage – between global superstar Raye and John Fogerty – is a mysterious band no one has ever heard of called Patchwork. This is Glastonbury organisers' idea of a funny tease, which will end up being a famous band or musician's surprise set. The same happened in 2023 when The Churn Ups turned out to be The Foo Fighters, who rocked out on the Pyramid Stage in what was an undisputed festival highlight. But Patchwork is not just a random word: it's a riddle. This is clear if The Churn Ups moniker was anything to go by; prior to Glastonbury 2023 fans linked it to the Foo Fighters, as lead singer Dave Grohl was in a band called Churn when he was a teenager. An X account also started dropping Foo Fighters references in the lead up to the festival. Now, an X account for Patchwork has also cropped up, so keep your eyes peeled for any hints in the coming weeks. But for now, fans have their own ideas about who Patchwork could be… Some fans think Harry Styles could be Patchwork, because, er, he wore a colourful patchwork cardigan once that everyone became obsessed with. The As It Was hitmaker, 31, sparked a TikTok trend of fans recreating his colourful jumper, which he wore in February 2020 while rehearsing. Tenuous, but possible… Just like the Foo Fighters teased they were behind The Churn Ups mystery in June 2023 on their socials, Candida Doyle from Pulp mysteriously talked about her love of patchwork in a recent interview with Jo Whiley, which seems kinda' random. 'I used to do patchwork when I was on tour and I made a really nice bit of patchwork, that's all I can think of right now,' she said… While it seems Pulp are rumoured most years for a Glastonbury surprise set, this year does seem feasible, as the Common People hitmakers have returned with their eighth studio album, More, scheduled to be released on June 6. Before Patchwork was mentioned, US sisters Haim were rumoured to be heading for a secret set at Glastonbury this year, after BBC Radio star Lauren Laverne hinted as much in her BBC Radio show. With their fourth album I Quit dropping in June after Women in Music Pt. II was released five years ago, it seems like a good time for Haim to descend on Worthy Farm. The band has a long history with the festival, having first played in 2013, before slots in 2014, 2017 and 2022. 'They've got summer shows coming up, one is Dreamland Summer Series in Margate on June 27,' Lauren noted on BBC6 Music, before adding: 'What else is happening that weekend? It's a long way to come to go to Margate, not that Margate isn't great…' Now the Patchwork clue is out, fans have pointed to a book of the same name by a writer called Sylvia Haim. However, it seems a little bit of a stretch as they might not be enough of a big deal to warrant the Patchwork tease. But that doesn't mean they won't fill one of the other secret set slots, simply billed at the moment as TBA. Just as with Haim, actor Timothee Chalamet was rumoured to be performing a secret set of Bob Dylan songs before the Patchwork tease. After he wowed critics with his performance as music icon Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, it was reported he is 'likely' to make a surprise appearance. However, this was not thought to be a Pyramid Stage outing, but one for the Acoustic Stage on the Saturday night. The Sun claimed he will appear alongside Dylan tribute band Not Completely Unknown. While that all seems likely, now Patchwork is teased, fans can't help but think of the Blowin' In The Wind hitmaker's famous patchwork jacket, which featured on the cover of his 1976 album, Desire. To add fuel to rumours, the Dune actor bought this very same patchwork jacket in March for over £20,000… While Oasis have said they will not be performing at Glastonbury this year, it would be a very Oasis thing to turn up for a surprise set anyway, wouldn't it? More Trending 'Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year,' the brothers said in October. After Noel and Liam Gallagher's years-long feud ended in a massive Oasis tour announcement last year, it's clear stranger things have happened. Where does Patchwork come into this, you may ask…? Well, they patched things up, didn't they? Yeah, okay. Perhaps wishful thinking has got the better of us. Got a story? Harry Styles catches everyone's eyes as he strolls around London in tiny shorts
Harry Styles has sent fans into a frenzy with his latest look – not that it takes much, of course. The One Direction heartthrob was snapped on a stroll around London, displaying his gym-honed physique in a pair of teeny tiny shorts. Harry, 31, is famous for his bold fashion choices, whether it be covering Vogue in a lace dress or performing in stadiums wearing sparkly jumpsuits. But in his daily life away from the glitz and glam of showbiz, he's clearly a bigger fan of casual attire. Seen in the capital on Sunday, the As It Was hitmaker ran errands in the sporty bottoms and a comfy black sweater. The shorts showcased his very muscular legs as well as the array of tattoos Harry has on his thighs, from a tiger to French and Spanish writing. Adding to his vibrant yet chilled ensemble, he threw on a purple baseball cap and yellow tote bag, completing the look with some eye-catching footwear. Teasing what could be a huge trend for summer – let's be honest, if Harry Styles is wearing it, we're all wearing it – he strolled leisurely in a pair of Prada suede sneakers, which set him back £720. Well, we say 'set him back,' but Harry recently celebrated making it to The Times 40 Under 40 Richest UK celebrities list, with his net worth estimated at a staggering £225million. But, in true Harry style, his generosity was also noted, as he was named too on the paper's Giving List, recognising his charitable donations. The latest photos of the Grammy-winning star show him in his own world, wearing shades in an attempt to go somewhat incognito and with AirPods in his ears. However, when the pics started doing the rounds on social media, people were anything but calm. 'how am i supposed to focus on anything rn when he looks this beautiful', declared X user @flowerrysue. 'If I had those legs I would also walk around in shorts every day', wrote @ugo___________. 'i'm serious when i say men should start apologizing for not being harry styles', said @axlsugar. Fans are also anticipating the pop star releasing new music at any moment, with his last release being the mega-successful Harry's House album in May 2022. Following his multi-million-pound-grossing Love On Tour shows, Harry retreated from the spotlight for a while, specifically when his former bandmate Liam Payne died unexpectedly last October. In recent months, though, the Watermelon Sugar singer has been a busy bee, spotted here, there, and everywhere, leaving fans unable to keep up with his whereabouts. Early last month, people got quite a shock when Harry appeared in the crowd in Rome to witness the announcement of the new Pope. Having made his love for Italy known, the 1D alum blended into the spectators at Vatican City as a bell marked the election of Robert Francis Prevost, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Declaring his love for Italy when he took his tour there a few summers back, Harry even spoke Italian, revealing he was learning the language 'very slowly,' asking fans to 'please be patient' with him. 'Some of the happiest and most special moments of my life have been in Italy, and I'm very grateful for everything this country has given me,' he said sweetly. More Trending He continued: 'So, my love goes to every single one of you. Thank you for being here. Tonight, I want you to be free to be whoever you want to be.' Shortly before his recent roamings in Rome, he was seen in Berlin, and he even made a stop off in Tokyo to run a marathon… as you do. Regardless of his coordinates, fans are certain that a single announcement is imminent, what with Harry making quite the return to the public eye and with sources previously speculating that tunes could land this summer. How Harry Styles uses his tattoos to map secret ‘sadness' and as artist reveals what his designs really mean
Kevin Paul, who has inked Harry, reveals what the pop star was really like behind the scenes STORY OF MY LIFE How Harry Styles uses his tattoos to map secret 'sadness' and as artist reveals what his designs really mean When the globally recognisable Harry Styles braved a crowd of 150,000 people to witness the new Pope's first address in person, it highlighted how important the star's spiritual journey is to him - as evident in his body art. However, one artist behind some of his body art believes there is a 'sadness' tinged with some of Harry's curious designs. 7 Harry Styles show off his tattoos in the music video for his single, As It Was Credit: YOUTUBE 7 Harry was spotted in the crowds in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, to watch the newly elected Pope Leo XIV make his first public address Credit: PA 7 Kevin Paul, is a tattoo artist to the stars and has inked Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran and Rihanna Credit: Vantage News The singer, who was spotted in St. Peter's Square watching Pope Leo XIV being debuted at the Vatican, has a series of religious-inspired tattoos, including an inking of a Holy Bible on his left arm, and a cross on his left hand. A source said: 'Harry's body is like a scrapbook of his life. He would always get tattoos as little representations of specific moments in time - they're all like little mementos now, and you can trace his journey through his spiritual discoveries through his body art. 'Scrapbook of his life' 'One Direction used to be stuck in their hotel rooms on tour, because anywhere they went was swarmed with fans. Getting tattoos in their hotel rooms was their escape from the madness and a way to express themselves and feel free. 'Sometimes they would just muck around with little cartoons, that really aren't that deep, but others seem symbolic of what was going on inside their heads at the time. 'You could say getting body art was their first outlet to cope with fame - now Harry's chronicles all the different paths he has explored to help be at peace with fame, and life in general.' The former One Direction star, 31, has previously stated he is 'more spiritual than religious' - though with typical dry humour, he admitted that it 'sounds a little w***y' to describe himself as spiritual. 'Outlet to cope with fame' 'I'm not super tied-in to certain rules,' he stated in 2018. 'But I think it's naïve to say nothing exists and there's nothing above us or more powerful than us. I think that's a little narrow-minded. 'I definitely believe in karma…. I definitely think there's something, that it's not just us.' Yet despite his tattoos having clear religious inspiration, tattoo artist Kevin Paul says Harry's body art is often spur-of-the-moment, as epitomised when he played "tattoo roulette" and got an inking live on the Late, Late Show. 'Harry is very random,' he says. 'I was halfway through stencilling another design that he wanted when he decided that he didn't want that now, he wanted to have '17 Black'. Watch as Harry Styles goes unnoticed by fans in London 7 Harry's tattoo artist says the process of how he decides his tattoos are often 'erratic' Credit: Splash News 'It was all very erratic how he had his tattoos. I think he's calmed down a lot though now.' But Kevin recalls how Harry's tattoo sessions, which would take place in a hotel room while the group were touring, seemed to be a method of escape from the constant glare of the spotlight. 'When I met him, you could see the sadness oozing through him,' says Kevin. 'Because they were locked in - they could never go anywhere. 'He just wanted to be normal' 'We used to call it 'the billion pound pension' because everyone was going to get rich off the back of it, but they just had to do as they were told and be where they were told to be. 'I got really sad for him, because he was really sweet. There was a moment when I told him I didn't have any kitchen roll and said I needed some, and he said: 'There's a Sainsbury's over the road, I'll go and get some.' And then he went: 'Oh s***. I can't.'' Naturally, at the time, wherever the band were holed up was besieged by armies of devoted fans, desperate for a glimpse, which left them locked in hotel rooms across the globe. 'More spiritual than religious' 'He just wanted to be normal,' says Kevin. 'He wanted to walk across the road.' While there is an 'erraticism' to some of Harry's tattoos, it is possible that another of Harry's tattoos - a bird cage inked in 2012 - is representative of this feeling. Equally, his growing collection of religious art seems to reflect his interest in discovering about different faiths. In 2014, he covered up a tattoo on his arm which read 'things I can't' - thought to be taken from a serenity prayer - with a picture of a Holy Bible. Harry, who says he 'is christened but not really that religious', was brought up in a family of church goers. His late paternal grandfather Brian Selley laughed that the young parishioners in Harry's hometown of Holmes Chapel knew more about his grandson's goings on than he did. 'They always want to know the latest when they see me on a Sunday,' Brian laughed in 2013. 'It's the first thing they ask me – I think they're hoping he'll come with me one Sunday.' 7 In Harry's As It Was music video, he references the creation of Adam from the Michelangelo painting in the Sistine Chapel (below) Credit: YouTube / Harry Styles 7 The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo Credit: Getty And despite wearing a St Christopher - the patron saint of safe travels - on stage, as well as regularly making the sign of the cross during performances, Harry has also shown a keen interest in the teachings of numerous religions besides Christianity. In 2014, he wore a Kabbalah bracelet - a red string with a charm - on stage at Wembley, prompting speculation he had started following the religion popularised by Madonna at the time. The bracelet is believed to protect the wearer from bad energy, or feeling negative emotions such as jealousy, that those possessed by the 'evil eye' otherwise encounter. Kabbalah bracelet In March 2015, during One Direction's tumultuous tour stop in Thailand, which saw Zayn Malik sensationally quit the group, Harry embarked on a spiritual journey, visiting temples in Bangkok and practising yoga and meditation. Meditation, he says, makes him feel like he is 'living', and helps 'with worrying about the future less, and the past less'. He later told how Hermann Hesse's novel Siddhartha, which tells the story of a young man's journey of self-discovery during the time of Gautama Buddha, 'makes a lot of sense' to him, and was an 'important' book. Among his travels, he has exchanged theological ideas with some of the world's most profound thinkers - he once met with the philosopher Alain de Botton to discuss 'Plato, Aristotle, love and beauty'. 7 Ed Sheeran gives Harry an inking on his left arm Credit: EBay During his time in 1D, he had such affection for the Jewish religion, he Tweeted friends with Yiddish words and had his sister Gemma's name tattooed in Hebrew, and though his dad Des clarified 'categorically, he is 0% Jewish'. Harry also has several inkings to remember late relatives including his step-father Robin, and his grandparents, including the letters R and B. Kevin - who has also drawn many of Ed Sheeran and Rihanna's tattoos, and has been tipped to appear on ITV2's Big Brother - says this is all part of Harry feeling comfortable to show the world who he is, and adds: 'It's nice he's able to express himself. 'When people ask who the nicest person I've worked with is, I would still say Harry.'
