Arnold Schwarzenegger Thinks THE RUNNING MAN Remake Could Actually Be Better Than His 1987 Film — GeekTyrant

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the first to admit his The Running Man adaptation had room for improvement. While promoting FUBAR Season 2 in a new interview with Grae Drake for CBR Presents: DRAW!, the action legend opened up about the 1987 cult sci-fi film and his honest take on the upcoming Edgar Wright remake. Schwarzenegger said of the original film: 'It was great, but it could have been better. I think it would have been great if we would have been better prepared for this movie, if we would have had more money… the visual effects, the technology of visual effects, that they have today, all of those things I wished after the movie came out.' As for the remake, Schwarzenegger seems genuinely hopeful it will take the concept to the next level. 'I love the idea that they're doing a sequel to Running Man, or a remake. I don't know what it's going to be…I think that they have a good chance now with the new Running Man to make it better. And I hope, for their sake and for my sake, I hope that they will be successful.' The original film, directed by Paul Michael Glaser and based loosely on the Stephen King novel written under the Richard Bachman pseudonym, followed Ben Richards (Schwarzenegger), a wrongly convicted man forced to survive a deadly game show for entertainment. The cast included Maria Conchita Alonso, Jesse Ventura, Yaphet Kotto, and Richard Dawson in a truly unhinged performance as the game's host. Now, Edgar Wright is stepping into the arena, bringing his signature style to the remake. Co-written with Michael Bacall, the film stars Glen Powell as Richards, joined by a wild ensemble including Katy O'Brian, Michael Cera, Lee Pace, Josh Brolin, William H. Macy, and Colman Domingo. With today's tech, a bigger budget, and Wright behind the camera, the world The Running Man with its dystopian media, violent spectacle, corporate control feels even more relevant now. The idea that this remake could tap into that with more bite is pretty exciting. The Running Man remake is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.

‘Fubar' Season 2 Debut Barely Makes Netflix Weekly TV List Amid Steep Audience Decline As ‘Ginny & Georgia' Remains On Top

Arnold Schwarzenegger's FUBAR returned for its second season last week, but it appears audiences had other streaming priorities. Season 2 generated about 2.2M views in its opening weekend after debuting on June 12, placing it at No. 10 on the weekly Netflix Top 10 English TV charts. That's quite a fall from grace compared to the first season, which racked up about 11M views during its own premiere weekend back in May 2023. It was comfortably atop the English TV list for the week. Once again, Seasons 1 and 2 also benefitted from the popularity of the new season. Season 2 came in fifth place with 4.2M views, while Season 1 took sixth with 3.3M. In second place was The Survivors, an Australian whodunit series that tallied 9M views in its second week on the streamer. Sirens also continued to perform fairly well, coming in third place with 4.3M views. That was closely followed by crime thriller Dept. Q in fourth place, also with 4.3M views. As for the film side of things, Tyler Perry's Straw picked up an impressive 48.9M views, making it both the biggest week this year for a movie and the biggest week for a 2025 launch. That's a positive sign that we may see it eventually land among Netflix's most popular English films of all time. Audiences also revisited the OceanGate submersible disaster in the new Netflix documentary Titan, which premiered recently at Tribeca Film Festival. The film took in 17.4M views, putting it at No. 2 on the weekly English films list. Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals why he would never ‘complain' about his fame

Bang Showbiz | Los Angeles Arnold Schwarzenegger has no reason to 'complain' about his fame. The 77-year-old bodybuilder-turned-Hollywood star has been known around the world for decades and claimed that the desire to 'get attention' is what most celebrities have, but he has no problem with fans approaching him because he is aware of the advantages that come with his status. When it was suggested to him that he has no 'hostility' towards being famous, he told The Sunday Times: 'You're absolutely right. What people miss the most is to get attention. 'That someone knows them, is aware of them, that they're somebody. And so they go to a shrink. They lie on the couch and someone is listening to them. 'But I go out anywhere to a crowd and they all listen. And they love to listen to my s***, right? 'I'm having fifty thousand shrinks sitting out there, and I don't pay a penny. I get paid! So how can I complain about that? 'OK, yes, there are times when you go to a restaurant and someone comes up and says, can I take a picture of you? 'But I can walk into this restaurant at any time, I can sit at any table I want, I make no reservation. For that I take a picture with someone. It takes three minutes. So why would I complain?' Meanwhile, the Terminator star is father to Katherine , 35,Christina, 33, Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27, with his ex-wife Maria Shriver as well as 27-year-old Joseph with Mildred Patricia Baena and his oldest son has become something of a household name himself through his role as Saxon Ratliff in the hit HBO series The White Lotus. Arnie admitted that 'everything has changed' now with his son's newfound celebrity status, but he will actually be very pleased if Patrick has 'outdone' him in the long run. He said: 'All of a sudden, everything has changed around. I walk into the gym now and it used to be the girls would come up and give me their contact. And then after White Lotus comes out, the girl comes up and says, 'Here's my contact, give it to Patrick.' So it's wonderful. If I go to my grave and know that my son has outdone me, I'm in heaven.'

Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals 'Good Idea' That Ended Sylvester Stallone Feud

During an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM's Radio Andy, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed the 'good idea' that led to him and Sylvester Stallone ending their years-long feud. 'We were kind of attacking each other and doing nasty things and saying nasty things about each other and all these stupid things,' Schwarzenegger recalled of the period in the late '80s during which the two actors were competing to be the top box office draw. 'All of a sudden, I started working with Robert Earl and Keith Parish to create the Planet Hollywood franchise, those restaurants,' he explained. 'The next thing I know is I get a phone call from my lawyer, who was also Sly's lawyer, he said, 'Arnold, is there any kind of room for Sly in Planet Hollywood?'' Schwarzenegger had to think about it at first, but eventually decided that letting Stallone into the fray would be good for business and their relationship. 'That's actually a good idea, because it could bring us together,' the Terminator star remembers thinking. 'And I wanted that. At that point, I had grown out of my craziness.'Planet Hollywood launched in 1991 with the help of Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and Bruce Willis—all of whom would go on to star together in The Expendables 2. 'Bruce Willis became part of Planet Hollywood, Whoopi Goldberg became part of Planet Hollywood, Chuck Norris,' Schwarzenegger added. 'It really was kind of an international cast.' The opening of Planet Hollywood led to a lucrative professional partnership for Stallone and Schwarzenegger. In addition to his appearance in Stallone's Expendables franchise, Schwarzenegger has starred with the Rocky actor in 2013's Escape Plan. "There's no two ways about that: He was very helpful in my career because I had something that I could chase," Schwarzenegger joked. What would Stallone have to say about that?
