Toothless cat has ‘grumpy grandpa face' that hides a soft side. He needs a home
A toothless cat has a 'grumpy grandpa face' — but don't let it fool you. 'Sure, he looks like he's about to yell at you for stepping on his lawn… but the truth? He's a total marshmallow. The kind that melts in your hands,' a North Carolina shelter wrote June 3 on Facebook. 'We could barely snap a photo — Archie kept smushing into us, climbing into arms like he'd been waiting a lifetime to be held.' Archie needs a home after he landed at the Watauga Humane Society on April 1. 'It felt like the universe's idea of a twisted joke,' the shelter wrote. 'No, not him — he's no prank — but the timing? Classic April Fools. Because the moment he shuffled in, toothless and opinionated, we figured we had a spicy senior on our hands.' Archie is a 9-year-old cat who once lived as a stray and was adopted. He lived in the home for about two years but struggled around his owners' dogs. So, he often retreated to an isolated spot until his family made the 'difficult decision' to give him up, Danielle Deschamps, communications coordinator for the shelter, told McClatchy News via email. The shelter doesn't know how Archie lost his teeth but said he likely didn't receive adequate dental care earlier in life. Despite his 'cranky' looks, he has been working to trust people. 'We were told he was extremely skittish and spent much of his time hiding,' wrote Deschamps, who shared pictures of Archie sprawled out on the floor. 'But as you can see in the photos — he's coming out of his shell beautifully. He's shown us a softer, more social side that didn't have a chance to shine in his previous environment.' As of June 5, the shelter's website listed Archie among the cats up for adoption. Details about the animal organization's adoption process can be found at 'We're hopeful his perfect person is out there — someone who will appreciate his quiet strength and give him the peaceful home he's always needed,' Deschamps wrote. The humane society is in the mountain town of Boone, a roughly 85-mile drive west from Winston-Salem.

Jaffa Cakes unveil brand new flavour — but fans say 'not a chance'
Jaffa Cakes have always been a pretty divisive snack – for starters, they're a cake that is shelved in the biscuit aisle at the supermarket. Then there's the fact that they're made with dark chocolate and contain an orange jelly-like filling, neither of which will be everyone's cup of tea. But now the brand has decided to ramp things up a notch, launching a new flavour that's proving even more controversial than the original. The iconic product has been given a 'swicy' (that's sweet and spicy) makeover and now comes in a Hot Honey option. It keeps the signature sponge and dark chocolate crackly top, but swaps out the filling for a golden honey centre with a hint of chilli. Yes, spicy Jaffa Cakes are now a thing and according to McVities they offer an 'unexpectedly delicious combo you didn't know you were craving'. But social media users don't seem quite as excited by the prospect… Jaffa Cake fans haven't held back with their thoughts on the limited-edition Hot Honey treat, with some going as far as to call it 'a crime against Britain'. 'They will do everything but not a white chocolate Jaffa Cake,' an anonymous user posted in response to a snap of them on Facebook, as Phil Cranage branded the hot honey trend 'b******s', and Jamie Burns asked: 'WTF man?' Scott Clarke thought the new product sounded 'horrible', and Christopher Bartlett agreed, writing: 'Not a chance mate'. 'Noo leave Jaffa Cakes alone,' proclaimed Zoe Wallis, but Mel White was a little more diplomatic, commenting: 'That sounds like an acquired taste.' On Instagram, @phoebelouiseshepherd branded the swicy treat 'rank', while @zoemuriel asked in disbelief if it was 'AI'. Others wondered if it might be an April Fools joke and some simply posted green-faced vomiting emojis, letting the image do the talking for them. Not everyone is against the new version though, @newfoodsportteruk reviewed them, saying: 'To me they taste just like a normal Jaffa cake but with a little bit of a kick, not much of a spice just a little tingle in your throat afterwards, however they are nice & different and would buy again!' They then gave the Jaffa Cakes a 7.5 out of 10 rating. Abigail Olivia and Simon Garnett admitted they were both 'curious' to try the new flavour and Nick Gordon was on the same page, adding: 'Mmm will have to try these as the Cola Bottle ones were epic. The best of all imo.' Jessica Woolfrey, marketing manager for Jaffa Cakes, says: 'At Jaffa Cakes, we're known for doing things a little differently. As the only cake in the biscuit aisle, it makes sense that our newest flavour brings an unexpected twist. More Trending 'We're super excited to introduce Hot Honey Flavour to the Jaffa Cakes family – tapping into the viral 'swicy' trend with a perfectly balanced sweet-meets-heat flavour.' Currently thew new Jaffa Cakes are only available to buy in Asda stores nationwide and they cost £1.50 for a box of 10. View More » However, at the end of July the product will be rolling out more widely to other supermarkets and convenience stores, so keep an eye out for them. Do you have a story to share? KFC releases fried chicken-flavoured toothpaste. No, this isn't a joke
Dentists typically recommend certain types of toothpastes, depending on oral health needs: fluoride, herbal, or even charcoal. But there is a new addition to that list – KFC Fried Chicken-flavoured. The American fast food chain partnered with Hismile, a toothpaste manufacturer, to create this product for a limited time. The toothpaste is inspired by KFC's special 11 herbs and spices for a 'full-on, flavour takeover,' Hismile, the toothpaste manufacturer says on the website. Appetizing, right? KFC fried chicken-flavored toothpaste The limited-edition KFC fried chicken-flavored toothpaste was launched on April 1, 2025. (Hismile) 'This toothpaste is finger-lickin' fresh, and brings KFC's crispy, golden perfection, straight to your toothbrush,' the partner website says. Hismile is a primarily teeth whitening company, which also sells toothpastes in unusual flavours, like watermelon kiwi and grape bubble-gum mouthwash, along with other skincare products. What initially started out as an April Fool's joke kicked up a storm on social media, Hismile marketing manager Koban Jones told Fox News Digital in April. 'We love pushing boundaries, and what better way to do that than by bringing KFC's legendary flavors into an everyday essential?' Jones said, adding that the collaboration was 'bold, unexpected and seriously fun.' The toothpaste was on the Hismile website for US$13 and was first available on April 1 and sold out by April 8, Fox News reported. KFC toothpaste Inspired by KFC's iconic 11 herbs and spices, the toothpaste was launched on April 1, 2025, but sold out seven days later. (Hismile) Additionally, customers can also buy a KFC electric toothbrush – 'a Colonel-approved, sleek, powerful, brushing machine that delivers the ultimate brushing feast' – along with the toothpaste. The electric toothbrush is still available for purchase, priced at $59 on the website. 'This has been one of our most successful limited-run collaborations to date,' Jones told Fox News Digital. 'KFC-flavoured toothpaste is surprising and talkable, which drove social conversation and a quick, 48-hour sellout.' Social media influencers have made videos reacting to this peculiar item. The user SnackEatingSnack can be seen calling the toothbrush 'absolute fire' before he goes on to explore the toothpaste in a TikTok video. Seconds later, he appears to be discomfort as he uses the toothpaste. 'That's one of the grossest things I've ever had in my entire life' he said. 'I'm repulsed.' Another TikTok user named Grace Mary Williams is seen wondering out loud 'if it's going to be the best thing in the world or the worst thing in the world.' Moments later, Williams shows signs of visible discomfort, making retching sounds as she tries to use the toothpaste for the first time. 'That's the worst thing I've ever tried in my life. That's absurd,' she said. A TikTok user named NDA posted a video questioning the motivations behind KFC's decision to launch a product like the toothpaste, with that price tag. He then goes on the show a mock advertisement he made on behalf of KFC for the toothpaste.
