Stay vigilant, use discretion to avoid being scammed, advises N. Sembilan MB

SEREMBAN: People in Negeri Sembilan, especially civil servants and retirees, are advised to be vigilant and use their discretion to avoid becoming victims of fraud. Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said this follows a report of an increase in commercial crime in the state, recording losses totalling RM47.74 million in the January to March period this year, compared with RM33.84 million in the same period last year. He said fraud cases involve not only senior citizens or retirees but young people who are exposed to scammers. 'Scammers are now more cunning; they target all age groups no matter young or old... even my child once fell victim to a scam related to gym membership. 'Fortunately, my child realised it (scam) in time, and only lost RM200 of the original sum of RM2,000,' he told reporters after the Negeri Sembilan State Government Administration Retirees Appreciation Ceremony 2024 at Palm Seremban Hotel here today. Also present at the event was State Secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim. Aminuddin, who is also the Port Dickson member of parliament said the state government will continue to cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as well as related agencies in comprehensively combating fraud activities.

NSFC Unlikely To Fill Full Import Player Quota

SEREMBAN, June 18 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are unlikely to fully utilise the maximum quota of 15 imported players allowed for next season's Super League campaign. NSFC chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is also Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, said the list of import players for the Hobin Jang Hobin squad, managed by head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil, is still being finalised. "We are still discussing the positions of the players to be selected. We simply can't afford to sign all 15 allowed. We will utilise both imported and senior players, but I am confident that the addition of many new players will bring new energy to our younger players.

Negeri Sembilan records 225 COVID-19 cases in ME 24

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan recorded 225 new COVID-19 cases in the 24th Epidemiological Week (ME 24) for the period of June 8 to 14, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. He said the figure showed an increase of 104.5 per cent compared to the previous week of 110 cases and Seremban recorded the highest number with 200 cases in ME 24. 'However, the situation is under control with no outbreaks reported. The increase is believed to be due to social movements and activities during the recent festive holiday season,' he told reporters after chairing an Exco meeting here today. Meanwhile, he said dengue cases in the state showed an increasing trend with 84 cases recorded in ME24 compared to 64 cases in the previous week while 21 outbreaks were reported involving 16 controlled, four uncontrolled and one hotspot. Aminuddin said the public was advised to remain vigilant and practise preventive measures and to seek early treatment if they experience symptoms of dengue. In another development, he said the state government had agreed to demolish and rebuild the Seri Pilah Kariah Mosque in Kuala Pilah at a cost of RM5 million as the mosque building was no longer safe to use. 'We want to develop a better mosque that will provide more comfort, especially to the children of the parish. The mosque, which will be moved to a new site at Lots 5616 and 5618 in Pilah Tengah, is expected to be completed within two to three years,' he said.

Aminuddin urges Selangor to expedite repairs on Genting Peras-Kuala Klawang road

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has called on the Selangor government to expedite repair works on the Genting Peras-Kuala Klawang road that was damaged by floods four years ago. He said the road, which connects Jelebu in Negeri Sembilan and Hulu Langat in Selangor, could help ease traffic congestion, especially during festive seasons and school holidays, besides serving as an alternative route for motorists heading to Kuala Lumpur. 'The damaged section in Jelebu has already been repaired, but the part at the Selangor border isn't. I will write to the Selangor Menteri Besar urging prompt repairs. Since it was damaged in 2021, we have not been able to use the route fully until now. 'If the road is repaired, it can become an alternative route to the Klang Valley. Motorists won't have to go through Seremban, they can go via Genting Peras from Jelebu into Hulu Langat and straight to Kuala Lumpur or Selangor,' he told a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here today. The Kuala Klawang-Genting Peras road has been closed to traffic since December 2021 after it was damaged by floods and landslides. Meanwhile, Aminuddin, who is also the Port Dickson Member of Parliament, said the state government has allocated RM1 million for a solar-powered lighting programme in rural areas, including Orang Asli villages. 'The RM2 million allocated by the Public Works Department for lighting is insufficient, as there are still poorly lit areas, so we've added another RM1 million. 'This is to ensure that attention is given to marginalised rural areas. It's part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and provide comfort and security to road users,' he said. On a separate matter, Aminuddin also extended condolences to the families of the 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students who perished in the accident along the East-West Highway, near Tasik Banding in Gerik, Perak, on Monday (June 9).
