Joann at Park West Place in Stockton to close, all locations closing with sales

Joann at Park West Place in Stockton will be closing. The fabric and craft store located at 10916-B Trinity Pkwy., between Daiso and Ashley Homestore, is closing along with all of its other locations after the company was auctioned off to a new ownership group. Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy twice in a year, with the remaining assets being auctioned off, USA TODAY reported. The retail liquidator and Joann's term lenders won the bidding on Saturday. "Following a comprehensive sale process and auction, GA Group together with the Prepetition Term Loan Agent, has been selected as the winning bidder to acquire substantially all of JOANN's assets," the company said in a statement via email. "In connection with this agreement, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval of the transaction, the winning bidders plan to begin winding down the company's operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations." The retailer had previously announced the closures of "approximately 500" of its more than 800 locations across the United States, USA TODAY reported. There are only two Joann stores open in San Joaquin County. The second location is in Stadium Center at 2210 Daniels St., in Manteca. Stockton's location sales have started. An "All sales final. No returns," sign is posted at Joann's Park West Place storefront. Another sign reads "No checks. We accept: cash, debit card, Visa, Mastercard & American Express." Inside the store signs with 10% off up to 70% off are posted around the store. Some of the sales include: Holiday floral is 70% off Candles and accessories are 20% off Cotton canvas is 25% off Food crafting is 10% off Siser vinyl is 20% off Circuit-cutting materials are 20% off Licensed fabrics are 20% off Blizzard fleece are 30% off Spray paint is 10 % off There is a sign posted on the cutting board station stating, "1-yard minimum. In one yard increments unless buying the entire bolt. For all by-the-yard material. Thanks for understanding." "JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business. We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders," the company said in a statement. "We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years." On Wednesday, Joann's assets under new leadership were approved in federal bankruptcy court, preparing for the closure of all store locations by the end of May, USA TODAY reported. Joann did not give a closing date for the Stockton location. Jonathan Limehouse, Alexis Simmerman, Patrick Williams, and USA TODAY contributed to this report. Did you feel it? 4.5 magnitude earthquake near San Antonio felt across Central Texas

San Antonians experienced an earthquake Wednesday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey. Here's what we know: The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.5 and occurred at 9:26 p.m. near Falls City, USGS says. Based on data from USGS, it appears that the Falls City earthquake is the primary shock of a series that started with four smaller tremors, ranging in magnitude from 1.6 to 2.9, during the first few weeks of January. Texas is not usually known for frequent or severe earthquakes compared to states like California. However, Texas does experience some seismic activity. According to USGS, there have been a series of small to moderate earthquakes in recent years, particularly in the northern part of the state around the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in West Texas. Some of these quakes have been linked to increased oil and gas activities, including hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and wastewater injection. Earthquake Track has ranked the strongest earthquakes in Texas history. The oldest, which hit 7 miles southwest of Valentine, is also the strongest earthquake recorded in the state.
