Oman: Sorouh residential project work in full swing
Muscat: Eighteen projects of the Sorouh Integrated Neighbourhoods and Housing Schemes Initiative have made significant progress in different governorates with some of them nearing completion of the first phase and ready to deliver housing units. The total investment value of the project exceeds RO 600 million covering a vast area of over 6 million square metres. Habiba al Amri, Project Engineer at the Sorouh Initiative, said that construction and infrastructure work on the integrated residential neighbourhoods is in full swing across various governorates. 'Among the most prominent projects currently witnessing remarkable progress is the Al Azm neighbourhood in Al Rustaq, where 100 per cent of the units offered have been sold with approximately 40 per cent of the construction work completed in the first phase and the delivery is scheduled for June 2026. Construction work is also proceeding at a rapid pace in the Al Samou neighbourhood in Al Mudhaibi, which has also recorded full sales. The first phase is almost 20 per cent complete with delivery scheduled for December 2026.' The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning confirmed that the projects are not limited to their urban aspect alone, but also involve effective employment of national cadres with more than 360 Omanis working on the implementation of Sorouh projects. In addition, more than 145 small and medium enterprises have benefited from supply and contracting opportunities in 18 projects. In this regard, Sorouh represents a significant economic and social driver in the governorates, boosting local economy, providing job opportunities and supporting entrepreneurs. The ministry announced that the first phase of Sorouh involves18 projects on a total area of over 6 million square metres with an investment value exceeding RO 600 million benefiting more than 10,000 families. The ministry as signed 44 cooperation agreements to implement infrastructure works in several integrated residential neighbourhoods under the Sorouh initiative. These agreements cover 15 integrated Sorouh projects in different governorates including those of Al Ula, Al Ezz, Al Masarat, Al Shurooq, Al Naseem, Al Nama, Al Salam, Al Azm, Al Samou, Al Noor, Al Luban, Al Majd, Al Ahd, Hisn Al Zain and Tilal Al Nakhil. Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of Al Batinah North, said: 'The governorate attaches great importance to the integrated residential neighbourhood projects implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning across the governorates. Among these projects are Al Ezz neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Liwa and Al Majd neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Suhar which embody a modern vision for providing integrated residential environments. The availability of services and integrated infrastructure meet citizens' aspirations and keep pace with the rapid urban expansion in the governorate.' Najeeb bin Ali al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, said: 'Focusing on development and real estate projects in Al Dhahirah Governorate is a fundamental pillar of comprehensive development, given their pivotal impact in enhancing economic and social stability and providing modern urban environments that meet citizens' needs and aspirations. The real estate development projects within the Sorouh initiative are not limited to urban development but also spur economic activity, attract investment and strengthen public-private partnerships. South Al Batinah Municipal Council reviews development, service projects
Al Rustaq: The South Al Batinah Municipal Council, during its fifth periodic meeting for 2025, reviewed the governorate's plan for projects to be implemented under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). The meeting, chaired by Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah and Chairman of the Municipal Council, discussed several development and service projects. During the meeting, the Council hosted Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority. The Council also reviewed responses received from relevant authorities, including development plans for the Wilayat of Wadi Al Maawil, a proposed health walkway near Nakhal Health Center, and the opening of internal roads to serve the wilayat. These periodic council meetings reflect the commitment to follow up on development and service projects while considering citizens' proposals and needs across South Al Batinah Governorate's various wilayats, contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development.

Seeb crowned Omantel League champions
Muscat, March 9 Seeb Club officially secured the title of the 48th edition of the Omantel League after concluding their season with a 1-1 draw against Al Nasr in the final round, held at Seeb Sports Stadium. Seeb had already clinched the title a round before the league's conclusion, claiming the championship shield for the fourth time in the club's history. The first half saw balanced play from both teams, with Seeb holding slight control over the match but without creating real threats on either goal, ending the half in a goalless draw. In the second half, Al Nasr came out stronger and showed a clear intention to score, which they achieved in the 75th minute with a penalty successfully converted by their professional player Saonina. However, Seeb quickly responded with an equaliser in the 82nd minute through Kamara, bringing the game to a 1-1 draw. Following the match, a special award ceremony was held under the auspices of Talal bin Said al Maamari, CEO of Omantel, with fans celebrating as Seeb's players lifted the championship shield, marking another milestone in the club's history. AL NAHDA CLAIM RUNNERS-UP SPOT Al Nahda secured second place in the league after defeating Al Rustaq 2-0 at Al Buraimi Sports Complex. Abdullah Jumaa scored the opener in the 14th minute, capitalising on Al Nahda's dominance in possession and wing attacks. Al Rustaq relied on counter-attacks and long balls but failed to threaten Al Nahda's goal. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Al Nahda. In the second half, Al Rustaq tried to stage a comeback but was denied by Al Nahda's solid defence. Al Nahda sealed the win with a second goal in the 88th minute by Jamal al Wahshi, securing a valuable victory. With this result, Al Nahda finished second with 47 points, while Al Rustaq remained on 23 points in 10th place. SOHAR AVOID RELEGATION Sohar secured their place in the league after defeating Oman Club 2-0 at Sohar Sports Complex in the final round, raising their tally to 24 points. Oman Club, already assured of third place, remained on 44 points. The first half was evenly contested, with both teams hitting the crossbar in key chances, ending goalless. Sohar took control early in the second half, opening the scoring in the 50th minute through Saud al Muqbali after a precise assist from Abdullah al Shibli. Sohar continued pressing and added a second goal in the 66th minute, this time with Al Shibli finding the net. Oman Club pushed to get back in the game, but Sohar's defence held firm to secure the win and confirm their league survival. IBRI OUT Ibri were relegated to the First Division after falling 1-0 to Al Khabourah at Al Rustaq Sports Complex. Despite Ibri's constant attempts, Al Khabourah snatched the winner in the 65th minute through Amir Alaa. Ibri finished second from bottom with 20 points, while Al Khabourah climbed to fourth with 31 points. Saham ended their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Sur on Thursday at Sur Sports Complex in a match that was not televised. With this result, Saham moved to 29 points, securing fifth place in the final league standings, while Sur remained at the bottom with 18 points. Elsewhere, Bahla claimed a convincing 4-3 win over Al Shabab at Nizwa Sports Complex. Abdulsalam al Shukaili scored all four goals for Bahla (a super hat-trick), while Al Shabab's goals came from Ahed al Hudaifi, Mohammed al Ghafri and Masoud al Bahri. Bahla finished the season with 28 points in sixth place, edging Al Shabab who also had 28 points into Fifth place on goal difference.

Seeb crowned champion of Oman Professional League 2024-25
Muscat: Al-Seeb Club celebrated its Oman Professional League title victory for the 2024/2025 season following its final-round match against Al-Nasr, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Al-Seeb had already secured the championship in the previous round after defeating Al-Rustaq 1-0, maintaining a six-point lead over Al-Nahda, the second-place team. The final round also saw Saham defeat Sur 2-1, Bahla edge past Al-Shabab 4-3, Sohar win against Oman Club 2-0, Al-Nahda beat Al-Rustaq 2-0, and Al-Khaboura triumph over Ibri 1-0. At the conclusion of the league, Al-Seeb finished first with 51 points, followed by Al-Nahda with 47 points, and Oman Club in third place with 39 points. Al-Khaboura secured fourth place with 31 points. Meanwhile, Ibri was officially relegated to the First Division League, having ended the season with 20 points, joining Sur, which also failed to secure enough results to remain in the top tier.

Five bids received for Wadi Al Maantiya recharge dam project in Oman
Five contractors have submitted commercial bids for the construction of a recharge dam at Wadi Al Maantiya, located in Wilayat Al Rustaq in the Al Batinah South Governorate of Oman. The tender issued by the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources attracted interest from 11 vendors, with five ultimately submitting bids.
